5* food, 4* service. the food was beautiful and extremely tasty, pork gyoza was incredibly tasty, dessert of toffee pudding was out of this world! service was attentive when they were concentrating on you but when they weren't they were easily distracted. i would recommend this place to even the pickiest foodies. a must attend in napa!

had been really looking forward to this, morimoto was going to be the highlight of my trip to sf (foodwise), and it certainly delivered. we had the 9 course tasting menu, each was distinctly different and showcase a different variety of japanese cuisine. the sushi was definitely one of the best i have ever tasted anywhere. in fact all of the seafood dishes were outstanding. of the non-seafood, the steam egg was a clear standout, and probably my favourite of the menu. subtle smokiness infused in the egg which was packed full of flavour. both meat dishes, the new york beef and pork belly were disappointing. the beef looked pink on one side, but was overcooked on the other. the pork fat was not rendered well, and no crackling! the dessert was a great combination of gelato, creamy tapioca, and coconut. overall an amazing meal!

...a stark, minimal urban space with concrete floors, vast windows and a clean japanese sensibility.

the salmon looks so luscious! mank and cdr repeatedly vowed to return for more of the sushi and sashimi. must save up the piggy bank for this next venture.

went without a rez on a late saturday night, they had tight but comfy seating. waiter was nice but was overwhelmed, seemed slightly understaffed. shishitos were great, seasoned well and nicely blistered. sushi rice was nicely made, rolls were forgettable. ribs were unfairly delicious. drinks are expensive but tasty. would try again, but not as memorable as i'd hoped.

morimoto is a good break from your napa valley wine tasting. first time i've tried uni carbonara, it was the right kind of richness you'd expect from a dish called such.

never had sushi the japanese way, or may i say the morimoto way :) .
i was really amazed not only by the flow of flavors and textures but also by the simple presentation.
great restaurant decor and feel and the food is amazing. truly a great place!

reservations were hard to get and i think we got ours at 9 pm on a saturday.  the restaurant is still busy and we were brought to the bar as our table was not yet ready.  they have a huge bar and a good selection of cocktails as far as i remember.  fresh fruits and juice were used.  and of course, they also have a great selection of wines right from the napa region! i always enjoy watching chefs working in an open kitchen fresh fruits for your cocktails~ i still remember i g

fun dining experience. morimoto was an exciting place to see. i love watching food network, so i was stoked when my boyfriend and i planned a trip to napa valley and i realized morimoto had a restaurant there. the service was promt and the decor was really cool. sushi was very good (ingredients were fresh and the menu items were creative), and the umi carbonara was out of this world. only downside was that it was really loud; fun for a group of people, but not a quiet date night.

... the sea urchin carbonara was creamy and savory. it's made with some type of udon noodles with bits of uni in the sauce and of course look at that big fat mother piece of uni on top. mm i love uni. bottom right: bonito and pomegranate seeds on a salad with pink daikon?!?! yes, please!
top left: nigiri and tuna rolls, can't go wrong.

best bite: wagyu beef carpaccio. the restaurant is huge inside, and feels open even when packed full of diners. service was alright, but for the prices, we expected a little more (see below).

the wagyu beef carpaccio is one of the best things i've ever put in my mouth, and well worth the $22 price tag. the seafood toban yaki was excellent as well.

attention vegetarians: don't expect any additional veggie-only items than what is described on the menu. more specifically, the kitchen was unable to put something (simple and quick) together on the fly. other dining experiences we've had at restaurants with similar reputations (and prices) were able to create a simple veggie plate outside of the menu. we've only asked for this service when the vegetarian options have been unexpectedly narrow. we weren't asking for a polished, refined dish, just something basic to accompany the existing options.

overall, a tasty place, despite the limited veggie options.

iron chef morimoto has several restaurants around the states and i have always wanted to visit one. i finally got the chance to try morimoto napa for a light lunch when my mom and i drove through napa on our trip to san francisco. the morimoto napa location is large, spacious, and beautiful. i started off with a pot of green tea (you have to pay extra here for tea). i like it when i get a full pot at the table so i can fill it up myself. the green tea here wasn’t the typical stuff you normally get at japanese restaurants. it had a floral flavour to it and hints of lemongrass. it was a great green tea. my mom had the pork gyoza, which look unlike any other gyoza i have had. the gyoza are covered in a layer of bacon foam, which adds an interesting smokey element to the dish. under the foam, there were a bunch of gyoza and a tomato sauce. the gyoza themselves were good and the pork filling was tender and juicy. the tomato sauce was an interesting fusion element that worked surprisingly we

just okay. was extremely excited to eat here, but sadly it ended up being a 'meh' experience. for the high cost (which i'm happy to spend if warranted), i expect exceptional, and really i can't say morimoto was. tried four different kinds of rolls, and each, while overall tasty and fresh, did not exceed anything i've had in a slightly above average sushi joint. or even made myself, for that matter. bill for lunch (2 people)was almost $80 with tax and tip, for that kind of money i am looking for something very special. decor is beautiful and service very pleasant.

most amazing dining experience ever. my husband and i both did the tasting menu, which they specialized for me since i don't eat seafood. you have no idea what you're going to get, but for 3 hours, they continuously bring out the most beautiful, unique and tasty dishes you'll ever try. i honestly think its the only way to try his food. had i ordered off the menu, i likely would have gotten some chicken dish and some gyoza. but instead, i got 8 dishes, including lamb carpachio with wasabi and chive, potato fume chowder, and waygu beef with macadamia nut rice to name a few. stellar service, great pace, can't think of a single thing wrong. it's very, very expensive, but for that experience, in my mind worth it.
