le bistro montage has a great atmosphere, full of energy. servicewas friendly and attentive. appealing and extensive cajun menu however personally found the jambalaya to be extremely salty.

worstserviceever. they have a take it or leave it attitude... well we left it; walked out before ordering.

last night i ordered the veg hush puppies, blackened fried catfish and garlic mashed potatoes. they serve instant mashed potatoes now! tacky and gross. when i asked about it, was told they do that sometimes when they run out. geez, ever heard of "86" when something runs out rather than slipping in some crappy substitute for the real thing? i would gladly have ordered something different had i known, although early into a friday night you would think they wouldn't already be out of one of their most basic staples. everything besides the fish tasted old, hard and stale, like it was prepared yesterday afternoon and left under a fast food heat lamp, which may explain why, on a busy night, they cranked out our food a lot faster than our drinks, which came to our table sometime after dinner arrived. even theservicewas a disappointment. our waitress was heavy on the schlocky affectations and her "eccentricities," which included skipping, a terrible fake french accent, and weaving her hand in the air while speaking as if playing a theramin, were all about as genuine as the cement-like lump of instant mashed potatoes on my plate. i have been coming to this place since they first opened up on se belmont street in the 90's, when the quality of the food mattered and the people serving it were great servers with real personalities. it is hard to believe how much it's gone downhill. there are too many good late night restaurants in town to accept what they're currently churning out. let the kids go for the atmosphere. if food orservicematters to you, go elsewhere. so sad.

stinky kitty. mac and cheese and stinky kitty please!!!:)customerserviceis not great but oh well the food and the fact that they are open till 4am is compensating that.hush puppies are delish and lately they have been out of gator ,but if you have a chance try it!good selection of wine, but not beer:( i love ordering more than i can eat just to get one of their legendary foil creatures or objects!:)

mixed...leaning towards like. the food is wonderful. get the spicy mac if you dare....and of course they have that gimmicky little tinfoil-animal-leftover thing they do...go for the atmosphere, the food if you want, but not for the service.servicereally ruins the whole experience, and if anything the montage is definitely an experience

awesome food, terrible service. we wandered over from downtown on our way to omsi one afternoon. the place looks like a dive from the outside but is very nice inside. a waitress who looked about 15 came over and took our drink order right away, but then promptly forgot about it. she came back for our food order without having given us drinks yet and seemed surprised when we asked where they were. food came in a reasonable amount of time, but was wrong and incomplete, respectively. the cheddar mac with andouille that i ordered was actually their "old mac", which i ate anyway and enjoyed immensely, but my boyfriend's breakfast plate came sans toast, which the waitress asked him to specify. not sure if she was just having an bad day, but throughoutserviceshe seemed oblivious and unfriendly. huge turn-off. she did comp our forgotten iced teas, but it was sort of too little, too late. if you can get a good server, i would definitely recommend this place based on the great food!

in town for visit. heard great things about place. stopped by sat. march 5. thought i was in restaurant but i guess was in lounge, place wasn't open yet. bartender had attitude!! asked for menu was complete a** h***! pointed down the bar and said there are menu's. don't care how good food is.servicesucks!!

not bad but not great. i recently tried out the pesto mac and cheese at montage. it had a good flavor but could have been better. their mac and cheese is not baked which i think makes it not as good as it could be. it has a good flavor but i've had better.

theservicewas good. i did hate the little tiny water glasses and the lighting was way too low. not a bad place to go w/ friends when you're looking for a cheap meal with fast service. i probably won't go there again however.

weird and wild - run to this place.. you can get a hint of the sensual strange just by walking by the montage. a dizzy interior and niceservice- i recommend this place for those who enjoy feasting on the edge. the bathrooms are a lurid green and echo van gogh-
plants, paintings and foil sculptures dance the room. dine and never leave the montage.

killer!!. we had the gumbo and jambalaya... sssooo good. we really enjoyed the waiters uniforms and the theatrical exchange between theserviceand the bussers dressed like pirates. this place is always packed with locals and out of towners. for my wifes birthday a killer tin foil dragon that was breathing fire turned out to be the creatively made to-go box.

we will definately be back next time we are in pdx.

yes please. i like the atmosphere, its different. its kinda fun, its hip. dont expect theserviceto be outstanding. it isnt. but if you strike up a convo with the waitstaff they are very freindly. the mac is good, gator bites are good bobo, use to be a++ but they changed the recipe couple years ago now its just ok.

not cajun. the room was sweaty hot. theservicewas great. the gumbo was mis-named. not gumbo at all...just a rice dish with a brown sauce with more rice. the fried oysters were perfectly cooked but tasteless. the hushpuppies were also mistakenly named; they should be called little non-cornbread dough drops with a bit of crawfish. fabulous cocktails.

great atmosphere!. i thought the food was good and the atmosphere was wonderful. i was hoping that the food would be amazing, but you can't win them all. theservicewas good and so were the fun, to-go foil animals. and an oyster or mussel shooter for $1.85, you can't go wrong. what a great place for a late night dinner!

save some for leftovers!. this is one place where you want to have leftovers! as good as the food is, you have to make it a point to have some leftovers. each time i've gone in, i've walked out with a unique foil creation. my last one garnered the attention of almost everyone in the place when i was presented with a five foot tall bird of paradise. :) food is great, ambiance is great (while a tad loud sometimes),serviceis great, nice place for those "in the know".
