monsoon bellevue

monsoon east is agreatupscale vietnamese restaurant in old downtown bellevue. it is part of the monsoon family of restaurants that includes a location in seattle, ba bar and baguette box.

good experience. i had dinner with my wife sunday night in monsoons in bellevue. first, the bartender was very engaging and made out time at the bar enjoyable. the oyster's and drinks were very good. it was nice to find out that it was seattle restaurant week also so they had 3 courses for $28.greatdeal, my wife took advanatage of it. i went ala carte and had the squid appetizer stuffed with duck, and the ribeye for dinner. overall, both were very good. my wife had eggrolls, shrimp and dessert. also very tasty. my only area i would recommend to work on would be the restaurnat service. it was by no means bad. it was not that special. the bartender did such a nice job of being engaging and making recommendations, and the restaurant server just missed the mark. more of just a ordertaker with a smile. again, was not horrible, just lacked compared to the experience we had at the bar. i would absolutely take another shot at monsoon's.

consistent,greatfood and caring staff. 30% off wine a plus. meat dishes stand out in the winter, when super fresh fish is harder. highly recommend the papaya/shrimp salad and the choices in bitter vegetables -- bok choy, pea vines. staff really cares and works hard to make the experience top notch.

fantastic - my new favorite!. i can't believe i didn't discover this place sooner! the food was absolutely delicious, the price eminently reasonable, and the service -- well, as opposed to a lot of places these days that give you "attitude" and seem to be on their high horse, these guys seemed to genuinely love having us there and wanting us to have agreattime. one of the best restaurant experiences i've had in years - and i'll definitely be rewarding them with many future visits and lots of patronage, going forward! these got the perfect combination ofgreatfood, reasonable prices, and service that makes you want to become a regular. definitely give it a try if you're in the bellevue area...

omg the best ever!!!. my mother took me here for my 24th birthday and talk about what agreatsurprise. the food was wonderful and the place was very peaceful and has a nice atmosphere. we had 2 starters the green papaya salad and sashimi salmon. both very good and for those who dont like heat the papaya doesnt have any so you can enjoy the flavors.

for dinner we had the cat fish clay pot and pork shoulder and this was great! now for those who dont like fishy taste then you might not like the cat fish but it was wonderful and the sauce wasgreaton rice.

last i do not know if they do this for all their customers who come to celebrate their birthdays there but the bar tender made my mother and i a special drink and it was on the house. it was a pink citrus drink and it was wonderful. along with this they brought us a banana cake with a coconut cream sauce which was wonderful too. i know the cake would be part of the birthday event but for them to give us free drinks that was the true icing on the cake.

the whole night there was perfect and i would strongly recommend people to go there and for guys to take their girls there for a special night. i plan on going back there again and will tell all my friends about it.

stunningly good meal. we ate at monsoon east this evening and everything we ate was excellent. we started with the stuffed squid and imperial rolls as appetizers. the slightly spicy sauce and noodles with the rolls was agreattouch, and squid was tender and tasty.

the main course was a couple of vegetable dishes (green beans and asian eggplant) with the curried gulf shrimp and noodles. we took home some of that as it was too much for two, but we wanted the variety of vegetables.

the fermented bean sauce on the green beans was delicious, as was the peanut/cocoanut sauce on the eggplant. the curried gulf shrimp were beautifully cooked (not dry) and the noodles (with egg and mushrooms & scallions) were so more-ish i could have made a meal out of just that!

service was prompt and attentive. about the only bad thing was the small table for two which could barely fit the various serving dishes plus our plates. we wil definitely be returning.

awesome. on each visit, we've found the food at monsoon east to be top notch. oysters were fresh withgreatsauces; salads were fresh and crisp; chicken, vegetarian and beef dishes were tasty and the jasmine rice well cooked. a little high priced, but reasonable for a good night out on teh town. if crowded, the bar offers the full menu and was less noisy than the main restaurant.

some of the best vietnamese. what agreatspot! the second monsoon (the original is in capital hill neighborhood of seattle) leaves very little to be desired. the food is allgreatand the crowd favorites (like the drunken chicken) is still on the menu. the waiters are very nice and know the menu well. the space isn't as cozy and intimate as the original but still nice. if you wantgreathigh end vietnamese food, go here. you will not be disappointed.

when out-of towners come to seattle and ask where to eat, i often direct them to vietnamese restaurants. i think our city is special for that. we've gotgreatpho joints, vietnamese delis, regular restaurants-and that's just in the little saigon/internati
