monsoon bellevue

this is a far best vietnamese restaurant i have ever tried. of course it is a kind of the fusion restaurant, an americanized vietnamese cousin. i would rate the food is 4.9, the deco is 4.5, the service is 4.5. the regular pho is fantastic of course. but the mushroom pho is also something you should try. the combination pho is agoodsize meal. i love also their thai-french inspired, americanized fusion dishes as well.

got the gift card from costco and went for it. the setting is pretty nice andgoodfor an intimate date. i went to the bar area for the happy hour. 1) sai gon slider - the ingredients put together perfectly and i can't get enough of the savory taste.2) grilled marinated pork belly - a decent dish with the pot belly grilled to perfection. the marinate is decent. however, this dish has some room to take it to the next level.3) bo la lot - the exotic taste makes this dish stand out. again, ingredients are put together to provide a complex profile of taste and texture.4) crispy vegetarian roll - this is a simple dish and yet very delicately put together. 5) calamari - fresh and deep fried well! the dipping sauce can use some innovation to stand out from run of the mill dipping sauce.6) five spice shrimp -  the five spice is there, but not quite distinguishable. shrimp was fried well.7) wokked bok choy - yum! i wish i could have some more! 8) diver scallops - the texture and freshness are good. however, it needs to kick it up a notch to deserve the price tag. 9) frog legs - deep fried frog legs! unfortunately, it was a bit fishy. 10) spicy albacore - genius! i spicy albacore salad on shrimp chips, wish i could have thought of that. 11) night shade - bubbly drink with some citrus emphasis 12) hold on to summer - house made non-alcoholic drink, averageservice was above average due to the courteous and attentive wait staff. the bill came to about $100.

food is reallygoodat monsoon!. went to monsoon last night for my brother's b-day party. service was great, but food was even better. my brother's friends are really picky eater (young adults) but they all loved the food and will come back.

we made reservation for 13 people but about 20 showed up. some stayed for a bit and some left. monsoon staff accomadated us very well and we had the big private room.

either way food was reallygoodand we'll be coming back here very soon!!

omg the best ever!!!. my mother took me here for my 24th birthday and talk about what a great surprise. the food was wonderful and the place was very peaceful and has a nice atmosphere. we had 2 starters the green papaya salad and sashimi salmon. both verygoodand for those who dont like heat the papaya doesnt have any so you can enjoy the flavors.

for dinner we had the cat fish clay pot and pork shoulder and this was great! now for those who dont like fishy taste then you might not like the cat fish but it was wonderful and the sauce was great on rice.

last i do not know if they do this for all their customers who come to celebrate their birthdays there but the bar tender made my mother and i a special drink and it was on the house. it was a pink citrus drink and it was wonderful. along with this they brought us a banana cake with a coconut cream sauce which was wonderful too. i know the cake would be part of the birthday event but for them to give us free drinks that was the true icing on the cake.

the whole night there was perfect and i would strongly recommend people to go there and for guys to take their girls there for a special night. i plan on going back there again and will tell all my friends about it.

stunninglygoodmeal. we ate at monsoon east this evening and everything we ate was excellent. we started with the stuffed squid and imperial rolls as appetizers. the slightly spicy sauce and noodles with the rolls was a great touch, and squid was tender and tasty.

the main course was a couple of vegetable dishes (green beans and asian eggplant) with the curried gulf shrimp and noodles. we took home some of that as it was too much for two, but we wanted the variety of vegetables.

the fermented bean sauce on the green beans was delicious, as was the peanut/cocoanut sauce on the eggplant. the curried gulf shrimp were beautifully cooked (not dry) and the noodles (with egg and mushrooms & scallions) were so more-ish i could have made a meal out of just that!

service was prompt and attentive. about the only bad thing was the small table for two which could barely fit the various serving dishes plus our plates. we wil definitely be returning.

awesome. on each visit, we've found the food at monsoon east to be top notch. oysters were fresh with great sauces; salads were fresh and crisp; chicken, vegetarian and beef dishes were tasty and the jasmine rice well cooked. a little high priced, but reasonable for agoodnight out on teh town. if crowded, the bar offers the full menu and was less noisy than the main restaurant.
