moerlein lager house

pretty good, not for kids.. i have eaten at moerlein twice and both times were good. the first time i was meeting a few friends before a reds game and i brought along my 5 year old son. i got the ridiculous more burger and he got a hot dog with fries. the more burger is good, but just way to messy and it just falls apart from the egg. very hard to eat. my son's hot dog was tough to bite into. it was like a rubber coating around the outside. i am all for a sausage with a snap, but this was even hard to cut with a knife.
the next time i went was with the wife. we ordered the muscles for an appetizer. now i am not a big fan of muscles, it is more my wife's thing, but these things were simply awesome! she eats them all the time and she said that this was the best muscles she has ever eaten. entree's came a little later, and honestly they weregoodbut nothing to rave over. i got the braised short ribs. everything was done well. the green beans and potatoes that were with it were good. the ribs were good.... but i can make the same thing with a chuck roast and some thyme.... or time. the wife got the surf and turf, which i was jealous she got and not me.... at first. her filet was good. cooked well, and seasoned. the crab cake was good. then there was the spinach risotto that came with it. it may be petty to complain about a side dish, but this was awful. it was stiff, under seasoned, and way way over cooked to the point of it being mush. however, let's face it, risotto is onlygoodwhen it is made to order and i doubt that this is.
anyway, moerlein has some great great beer. we had the best muscles ever, but the food is just good. nothing to rave about but nothing to turn my nose up at either. just if you bring the kids be sure to pack a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for them or something.

bring your earplugs.goodfood,goodbeer, nice view, but forget about having conversation. it is so loud!

great beer terrible food. go for the beer, which is truly inspired, and the atmosphere, which feels more like a cool place in seattle or vancouver than cincinnati, but eat somewhere else. i've been here twice and both times the food was terribly disappointing. i love spicy indian and thai, but the amount of peppers used by their cook literally made me run to the bathroom, thinking i was going to throw up after the first bite of shrimp. the calamari was smothered in a thick remoulade sauce that was pretty disappointing and their flatbread pizza was just okay. the only thing that wasn't bad was their pretzels, a large portion and asgoodas the hoffbrau house.
for atmosphere and beer, it puts the hoffbrau house to shame, but as for the food, it's as if some frathouse cook has taken over the kitchen and is trying to punk all the diners by overly spicing all the dishes as a joke

i love coming downtown to moerlein on a nice day. eat and then walk through the park. tonight i had the philly cheesesteak with sweet potato chips and parmesan risotto. sandwich was a little oily and bottom bun a little soggy, but verygoodflavor. chips and risotto were awesome. otr beer to go with it. nice combo. service was great. downstairs seating has agoodview but very loud.

moerlein's is located at the riverfront. got a nice view and usually gets full during the games days!! i have been there a few time now for dinners and special occasion. their flatbreads are great options for lunch/dinner. i tried buffalo chicken and caprese. both were quite nice. caprese has a distinct flavour of basil pesto and balsamiic glaze. wheat beers on the tap aregoodtoo.

i always order the bbq chicken flatbread or the buffalo chicken flatbread.  not normally a flatbread fan but these i really enjoy.  the smoked cheddar mashed potatoes are to die for.  the soft pretzels and beer cheese makes agoodappetizer along with the parmesan fries as a side.  was quite disappointed when i planned a dinner for my friend's engagement and they didn't provide anything on the house.  had to buy a bottle of champagne after planning it in advance.

stopped in for a business dinner while traveling. an easy walk across the roebling bridge from covington hotels and i preferred the food to other nearby restaurants i've tried. the food was better, the prices were better...the service was a little slow, but other than that, a great experience. i selected the dry-rubbed tri-tip sirloin with grilled asparagus and smoked cheddar mashed potatoes, and especially nice meal for the $20 price tag. the steak was well prepared, the asparagus tender and the potatoes flavorful. i finished with a apple almond bread pudding, which was excellent. not too sweet and not overly heavy, made it a verygoodfinish. i would definitely recommend.

the moerlein lager house was a neat place. we enjoyed the beers very much - we got another one when we went into the ballpark - and even though we just had salads we thought they were very good. this is a place that i would definitely go back to because the rest of the menu looked verygoodand interesting. the service was a little choppy, butgoodenough since we weren't in any large hurry because the ball park was just across the street. the moerlein lager house was one of the finest brew pubs that i've every been to and one that i would wholeheartedly recommend on a trip to cincinnati. the only thing would be to figure out where to park when there isn't an event going on downtown.

out day was just ruined by the bad service and bad food at this place. not only the service is slow and our appetizer never came, but the food is nothing special, in fact, is really below average; and considering the bill, i could have done much better at agoodrestaurant chain like chipotle.

great view, service, interesting entrees. we recently visited with a party of 10 to moerlein's on nuxall way. they called me around noon to confirm our large party reservation, which was agoodsign. the service was very prompt and attentive, as the main server was in the process of training another server.
i had the squash wellington-with mushroom filling layered atop of the main layer of squash, colorful, with a base of spaeckel and more mushrooms in a pastry shell-verygoodmeal. others had a variety of sandwiches, basic meals like meat loaf and potatoes, etc. with positive comments. great root beer and regular german microbrews! we would return.

great evening.goodfood, great beer. i highly recommend the lager house for a night out. everyone was friendly and efficient. we had reservations, arrived 30 minutes early thinking we would sit at the bar. but to our surprise, we were seated immediately. will return!

great view, service and food. visited on a saturday night with a 7:30pm reservation, sat at 7:45 on the second floor. they were very busy, but worth the little bit of a wait. our server was friendly and attentive. ordered the onion rings as an appetizer. very tasty and the bbq dipping sauce packed a punch. short rib, meatloaf and steak frites were the entrees my family ordered. everyone was pleased with their entrees. our server made helpful suggestions on choosing beers based on our preferences. overall,goodexperience. i have been there a few times before and would definitely come back.

excellent setting withgoodfood.. i kept delaying and delaying the lager house, mostly due to the fact that i do not really drink, but when i finally decide to go, i ended up impressed. i ordered the hops smokes pork belly, with spaetzle and brussel sprouts. while the sprouts were just ok, probably could have been cooked a little more, the spaetzle was completely off the chain or hook or whatever them young whippersnappers say now-a-days. the meat was tender and had the right amount of fat compared to meat. the flavor melts in your mouth and the portion size is just right.

i did not care for the side caesar salad i had ordered however. in fact, it was awful. sorry guys, but everything else, tremendous.

for the beer!. i love agooddraft house. this place doesn't just have excellent beer, but the food is tops!
