not good for group events.. i have always been a big fan of model milk, i picked this venue to have a special after wedding dinner with some close friends, we had a group of 14 so we booked the private dining room. they put us on a set menu, after struggling to pick two items the entire party would get to choose from i received a call two days before the event saying the menu had changed and we needed to pick new items. we also had two vegetarians and options were very limited and flexibility was nonexistent. trying to deal with the event coordinator prior to the event was very difficult. if you are a larger group looking for a special organized evening, i would not recommend model milk. spending $170 per person the server seemed quite annoyed the entire night. we had a gentleman with us who suffered from a previous stroke, the waitress seemed quite annoyed with him the entire evening. unfortunately my experience has turned me off from the location and i will not return or recommend.

went here to celebrate my daughters bithday and was very disappointed in both the food and service. we ordered the calamari to start and it was great, so we decided to order a second plate which never came!both my husband and i ordered the steak prepared medium and was served totally rare. edges were seared and that was it! it was the chewiest piece of meat i have ever had. could hardly cut it with a knife!! i could not recommend this resturant to my friends.

food was delicious, service was great.. i know what you are thinking, "why doesnt he like it then?"

honestly it was the portion size that bothered me on the main dishes. the desserts are huge but the actual meal itself was pretty pathetic. i get the whole you pay for quality not quantity thing in restaurants like this area, i really do. i went in there hungry and left hungrier and for the cost of the meal, i felt like i was robbed a little. i went with some friends and we all got different things and they all looked so tiny. like i could eat all of their meals alone and i am not a big guy.

i would totally recommend this place to people for the service and the quality of food but i would also mention that the portions are pretty small and if you are looking for a good filling meal to look else where unless they just want dessert.

always a good time.. i've been to mm a number of times and it never fails to amaze me. i actually go hoping i get to wait for a table and sit at the bar while watching everything unfold, it has such a great atmosphere and such a unique space. i thoroughly enjoy dining at the pass, all the kitchen staff are so diligent and professional it's great dinner entertainment, and they even take time to answer any questions i've had about the food. recently when i was there we had pat as our server, and he was amazing - we asked him to surprise us with our main course and he couldn't have rounded out or meal better, i highly recommend the steak if its still on the menu! the wine is always delish, the oysters are always fresh and the service is always outstanding. every time i leave its on a full belly, wishing i had room for more. no doubt this is one of my top picks in the city! everyone needs to experience this place.

- one of my favourites in calgary due to the amazing food quality
- always bring guests from out of town here as they have a reliable experience.
- great staff and service (at least in the times i visited).
- the apple pie isn't what it use to be.

oustanding. my girlfriend and i visited model milk for the first time recently. we were there for a special occasion and the crew at model milk definitely helped make it one. the food is amazing. we enjoyed a couple starters and a great recommendation on a bottle of wine.

she had the cheddar crusted steak, i had the lamb and both dishes were outstanding. i also recommend the bag of donuts for desert.

the staff is knowledgeable and very detail oriented. we'll be back, and you should go.

at $35 per person for a huge, filling meal on a sunday night.. i have nothing to complain about. the dinner service was well executed and the service was prompt and friendly. the menu for sunday supper changes on a weekly basis, but i'm sure you'll love it no matter what is on the menu. be sure to arrive early, or snag a reservation. sunday supper runs each sunday until 10pm - maybe i'll see you there the next time i'm around in calgary!

great food. my wife and i dined with another couple at model milk on saturday may 4th and i must say that i was very impressed with the food. we shared 2 appies, the calamari and the prawn rolls which were both fantastic. i had the arctic char with some kind of a wasabi spread and my wife had the pork. both were well prepared and even though i would normally stay away from anything with wasabi, it was great and not to hot. we finished the evening some shared deserts (the fat kid cake, ice cream sandwich & bag of doughnuts) which were all extremely delicious.

worth the trip from edmonton!. i was apprehensive about going because of the negative reviews on urbanspoon and because of the menu descriptions - which really do not do the food justice! i was more than pleasantly surprised! saturday night, the place was packed but we (table for 2) were seated right away - without a reservation. the restaurant itself is beautiful and simple in decor, the staff, from the hostess to the wait-staff to the chefs were knowledgeable, approachable and friendly. i can't rave about he food enough! we shared 3 "small plates" and the hamburger, a few drinks, and we were stuffed solid! the food was really amazing - there is no other word for it. highly recommend the fricassee of calamari. the menu does change, so we'll be coming back repeatedly!

vg but extremely noisy. 3 of us went to mm for the 1st time and enjoyed the service & food & wine very much but all i can remember is the noisy music which detracted greatly from our dining experience. we had steelhead trout, the duck (leg not breast unfortunately) and the salty broek pig. we also had the dungeness crab appetizer which was very tasty and a wonderful wine suggested by our amazing server. sadly, i will not return as i didn't enjoy hearing everyone shouting to make themselves heard to their friends at the table which just contributed more noise to the room.

trying too hard. for all the buzz about model milk, i was expecting more than one "omg this is incredible" moment. i didn't even get one. on our second visit everything was voted "okay" by our family group of 20-somethings and 60-somethings. the place was incredibly noisy and the food did not make up for the difficulty talking and hearing. shrimp rolls were very good. fried green tomato was okay, but a huge portion for a starter. fries with cheese - huge portion, enough for three people - good but not great. burgers were 4 inches high, hard to bite into, chunky mushrooms fell out everytime you picked the burger up. steelhead trout was perfectly cooked, served with some pleasant greens and a very traditional creamy tarragon sauce. boudin noir with gnocchi - weird and tasteless gnocchi, all 4 of them, maybe 6 or 8 chunks of sausage, a light dish as advertised. the mushroom vegetarian dish was okay too. for dessert, the bag of donuts was proclaimed delicious, but there were only 4 little donuts so not really enough to share unless you wanted just a tiny taste of dessert. the rhubard sauce was a nice spring touch. the chocolate cake was over the top - too many things going on, with chunks of chocolate-covered pretzel and some kind of peanut crunch candy in a fairly dry chocolate cake layered with a vaguely cherry-flavoured icing, topped with a flavourless runny milk sorbet.other desserts were apple pie in a cheesy crust and some sorbet. not much of a selection.
i'm sorry that our experiences there have not been great, as i was hoping for a local eatery that could produce some exciting new dishes. perhaps that's the problem - trying too hard. mm has delivered 51 menus in 86 weeks. this one was quite quirky, with a "huge" ribeye for $42, twice-cooked duck, halibut, cod, steelhead, and lamb, all with unusual sides, (crispy pig's ear?) for entrees.
the decaf americano was very good. there was a decent selection of wines by the glass, and our waiter was a delight, good-natured and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks. but an overall rating of "okay" is not enough for us to want to try again.

first time there. gift from the kitchen was oysters, not a great introductory to a restaurant, i hate oysters.
ordered a selection of entrees and sides to share as there was nothing on the small plate menu i liked. if you like seafood you will be ok.
dessert was disappointing. it's all well and good putting a lot of emphasis on top quality local food but these new restaurants have to put as much effort into their dessert menu. it's the last impression they make.
