may 14-13. to whom it may concern,

i was in on the evening of may 14 this week to try to catch some of the sens game.
i had been in with a group sometime last summer and swore i would never go back.
my friends managed to convince me to visit mill st. again for some drinks.

thistimewe sat at the bar. pete was taking care of us. he was awesome! very down to earth, entertaining and efficient. we didn't end up taking a table that we were wait-listed on because we were content with the great service pete was able to provide!

we will be back for pete!

if i wanted to have a 4 hour dinner i would go to beckta!. i did not enjoy my experience at all...
we had a 5pm reservation. the hostess had us going around in circles because she was clueless to what was going on and didn't know where our table was. please note it wasn't even busy yet.
i don't even like beer and the wine choices could have been much better.
i tried the french onion soup....it was ok but not hot enough, and the cheese could've been melted more. i went for the sunday special prime rib dinner, server said he hadn't heard anything bad about it...liar!
meat was medium rare on one side(how i asked for it) and well done on the other side...it looked like they pan seared it on the one-side. 5 people at our table ordered and they were all the same, nobody was happy. the meat was so tough...i couldn't eat it. the yorkshire pudding was barely edible...also tough. service was slow, ordering took forever, drinks took forever, no quality checks and food was awful! when i asked for a spoon i was given a dirty spoon. when i asked for a clean one....it was like i was being a pain. what's wrong with expecting clean cutlery? i would never recommend this place and i will never be back!
if you want a good prime rib....try lieutenant's pub!

absolutely horrible service. waited at the bar for about 30 minutes to be seated (this is to be expected in a busy restaurant). while waiting for the table we ordered some beer with a glass of water. the beer arrived promptly but the water never made it. when we (party of 4) were seated the table didn't have utensils. we asked 3 different people / servers for some but were ignored. our appetizers arrived and we had to wait an additional 10 minutes before we finally found someone who finally gave us some utensils / napkins. from thetimeour appetizer was served until thetimeour entrees arrived it was a little over 2 hours. we were on the verge of leaving when the food arrived. nothing complicated - 2 burgers and 2 beef dips. at least 2 other tables around us left while waiting to either be served or for their food. the server never came back to check on the food once the entrees were brought out. near the end of our meal we ordered some water which also never made it. there are plenty of better places to eat in ottawa with far superior service!!

great food if you don't mind the wait!. we came here for lunch mid-week and sat on the packed patio. the atmosphere was lovely but we waited about 10 minutes before our waiter came to greet us. we ordered the beer mustard mussels as an appetizer and a couple pints of their organic. the beer arrived after our mussels did, but the mussels were some of the best i've ever had. for 12$ we got a large bucket of the largest best tasting mussels i've ever had. highly recommended. for our mains we ordered the vegetarian flatbread and the chicken club sandwich, very tasty but nowhere near as tasty as the mussels. for dessert we ended with the scrumptious red velvet cake. the food was great but the service was less then desirable. i can only hope that because they're a newer restaraunt they haven't weeded out the weaker servers/bartenders yet....onlytimewill tell.

great beer, great food!. i went to mill street tonight for the first time. it was my firsttimebut my friend is somewhat of a regular. after my experience tonight i can see why he keeps on going back.
the building is stunning and you can't beat the location - i can't wait until the warm weather returns and the patios are open!
we had the carnitas as an appetizer and they were delicious! for my main i had the tikka masala which i loved and my friend (a creature of habit) had the duck sandwich with fries.
to drink we each ordered flights which was the perfect way to sample one of their many beers on tap! my favorite was the portage - exclusive to ottawa!
all in all it was a great first experience! there was also a private event going on upstairs and we ended up seeing defense minister peter mackay on our way out! pretty cool!
i'm looking forward to my next visit!

good place to go to at anytimeof the year. i've been here many times, and eachtimei've had the same problem. the food took forever to make. the restaurant also gives brewery tours and onetimemy family and i decided to go on it as we waited for our food. when we came back from our tour, we asked where our food was and they told us they just started making it so that it wouldn't get cold. i found that everytimei visited this restaurant, the waiters were nice but also very forgetful. i like to get some nice ice cream after my meal, and everytimei've ordered ice cream it took the waiters over half an hour to bring it to my table, even though i asked them where it was. there are lots of places to sit in the restaurant. i am giving the restaurant a 3.5 only because of how good their food is.

my family along with two of our friends attended the mill street brew pub on saturday, july 16.  from start to finish it was probably the worse dining experience i ever had.  we called and were advised that they didn't take reservations. nevertheless we decided to take a chance and when we arrived at the pub, we asked if we could sit near the water.  we were told that wasn't possible because they didn't have a waiter/waitress for that section.  however, we noticed that there was only one table of six people in there that night with plenty of empty tables.

we all ordered drinks and then ordered our meals and that's where it started to really go downhill fast.  we waited over an  hour for simple meals like fish and chips and wings.  no one came to our table to explain the delay.  the place wasn't even that busy.  in the meantime, we had different servers come and replenish our drinks.  when we asked them what was happening with our meal, they advised that they didn't know.  finally, our original waitress came back and advised that there had been a problem with the deep fryer and she hadn't been informed.  an hour later we received our meal - probably the worse fish and chips i have ever had - the chips were cold and the fish, when you cut into the hard coating, oozed oil.  i ate it, because by thistimei was starving.  my son ordered mild wings and when he received his order, they were extra spicy and he couldn't eat them.  he reordered his wings - took about 15 minutes and when he received them half looked like they weren't cooked and the other half were burnt.

the waitress said that the manager would be coming over to speak to us but later she advised that he had told her to handle it.  a 30% discount was applied to our bill.

when my friend tried to talk to the manager about the service we received, he made the comment that he wasn't even aware of the situation - but who authorized the 30% discount then?

we had just finished a two week tour of the east coast and everywhere we went, the service was great and the food was fantastic.  only at mill street pub did we experience rudeness, ineptness and a total disrespect for the customer.

we won't be going back there and will be telling our friends to definitely find another restaurant!!!

always a greattimeat mill street. good
food, great beer, awesome service and ambiance. my fiancé attended their annual robbie burns dinner and it was amazing! a 5 course meal / beer pairing for $70. with scot in my ancestry, i was excited to try food from the homeland. smoked salmon, chicken soup, scotched egg, beef tenderloin and haggis, and sweet and spice vanilla ice cream for dessert, each pair perfectly with different beers. not only that, the brewmaster gives a speech and explains each beer you are drinking as they come out. it was really cool. i love mill street on any given day, but i would highly suggest attending one of their sit down dinners, it's pretty sweet.

absolutely terrible! the food is horrid, kitchen seem to be out of a lot of the items on the menu. poorly managed... the building is very nice and the location is great, but that is it. i wouldn't waste yourtimewith this place. trying to push volume not quality.

will not return. last saturday my husband and i decided to go out for bunch. we love mill st. in toronto and decided to try the one here. i was having a hardtimeof lunch or breakfast (let’s face it brunch is hard sometimes!) and we decided to get a charcuterie plate first. we told the waitress we would like it as an appetizer and our eggs benedict served after. we were slowly enjoying our food as the charcuterie was large when our eggs benedict arrive. my husband was not impressed, as we specifically requested this not to happen. when we told the gentleman who came out he offered to put it in the warmer for us. uh, no. when our server came by and asked how it was we told her we were very unhappy they came early, and she said she was sorry the kitchen was not busy and it came out quicker than she anticipated. fine – putting all that aside we dig in. i found that the pulled pork was not amazing, and didn’t have as much flavour as i’m used to. without the bacon, and the fact that it was on toast it was all mushy and had no texture. the part to dig into my eggs came and they were hard. it was really disappointing, as my favourite part is when you cut and it oozes and covers everything. the server came back and after two bites, i knew i would not eat it. i told her i didn’t want it and would each the rest of our charcuterie plate. she said she could get me a new one, but i wasn’t in love the first time, and didn’t think the secondtimewould yield different results. after all of this, she apologized again and didn’t charge us for my breakfast. good notes: the view it’s stunning! really beautiful building, lots of history on their menu and you could see parts of the brewery from the inside.

user reviews. it was really good when they first opened. now their quality has gone down. the best thing on their menu was the flat bread piggy delight but they don't serve it anymore. the duck confit flat bread looked promising but it was a complete disaster. service is a hit or a miss depending who you get. suki is the best one there. onetimei was there for dinner with a friend and the service was so bad that after 20 minutes of having our 'sort of' empty plates, i got up and took them to the bar. bottomline, for the quality i had been getting lately, it is way overpriced.

my family and i had a great dinner tonight! the service was especially notable- there was a wedding going on upstairs, and, as a result, our appetizer took a few minutes longer than usual to arrive (which our server told us was usually 8 minutes). as an apology, she voided our appetizer from the bill entirely! we were very impressed with her professionalism and friendliness. food was very good. two of us ordered the tuna salad and two ordered the kale salad. overall, both were quite tasty. kale could have been marinated for a bit longer to soften it. strongly recommend this restaurant! the whole place is buzzing and electric. can't wait for nexttime:)

firsttimegoing and the service, food and beer was great. tried a sampler of 4 beers and my favourite was the organic lager. it had a very smooth taste to it. the calamari was also very good with the aioli and marinara sauces. i will definitely be going back, the atmosphere is great.
