modern interiors, freshest foods and the yummiest desserts.

💕date for two: lunch buffet
💌total: p2088
overall: for our anniversary, we tried this buffet at midas cafe, a meticulously designed restaurant at midas hotel and casino.

we booked our date via eatigo and picked a time that offers 50% the total bill. our time booked is 11:30 am. we arrived at the hotel abitearlier, around 11 am, so we still got the chance to roam around. once we’ve entered the restaurant, we were directed to this part and seated beside the window. since the foods are not yet ready, we had a quick tour of the resto.

yey for unlimited beer and wine! we didn’t avail this since we still have a long day to go but seeing the choices of wine they have, it sure is worth the five hundred.

love this colorful play area for kids! though we didn’t see any kids that time utilizing this, we’re pretty sure this one’s a good distraction for the little kiddos while mommy and daddy are getting some good foods.

holiday vibe is in the air! colorful ginger bread towers and houses are all over the place for your eyes only – not for consumption, of course. haha.

bread station– set up looks simple. choices are not that much though people are skipping this part to avoid carbo loading and filling up their tummies so fast.

salad station– diy and ready-made salads are available at this station. basic dressings and veggies are here to kick start the buffet journey.

cheese station– not the grandest cheese station but it’s a sure way to warm up the palate. pair it with dried fruits and you’re good to go.

some of their cold cuts and apetizers. we love the one with the salmon! so creamy and tasty!
salami cone, bruschetta – the salami paired with olive is one great combination. bruschetta is good too, the cheese on top is perf!

bacon wrapped pickles– haven’t tried this one because of the pickles. haha. how we wish the inside is either asparagus or enoki mushroom instead.

salmon cream cheese roll– the star of all apetizers, it’s just so yummy! came back for this for several rounds. haha. the nori wrap is astoundingly good and the pesto sauce is the perfect match.
nachos and fries– we actually don’t have any plan to get any nachos or fries as these will stuff us faster. but upon seeing the cheesy fondue, we changed our minds in a heartbeat. lol. the cheese is not that thick though, but it’s still okay.

kaktugi and mat kimchi– tried only the classic mat kimchi. it’s fine but the cheap ones on korean restos are better.

sushi station – abitsad for the little variety of sushis and maki. was expecting tamago too! huhu. anyhow, it’s a good thing they have salmon. it made our day better.

assorted maki – this is labeled as assorted but seeing from here, we can identify these as pure california makis covered in different types of roes. not sure though, corrections are very much welcome.

sake sushi – the gem of the station. we’re wondering there isn’t salmon sashimi since they have this. nevertheless, we still enjoyed this and kept coming back multiple times. haha. towards our ‘full tummy’ state, we even cheated and just ate the salmon and just let go of the rice. hihi.

carving station– so there’s this whole slab of rib that gets everyone’s attention. there are two sauces available, mushroom and red wine sauce. you may also opt to have it garnished with pommery and horseradish. hashbrown on the side is also available for a perfect pairing with the steak.

roasted prime rib – slices are done per request. the station chef is right there all the time to assist anyone who wishes a slice or two.

grill station– fresh beef, pork, chicken and sea foods are all for cooking! not by the customers though, but by their chefs. they have a vast choices on how you want your meats to be cooked. from grilled to stewed to baked, they have it. colorful kebabs! we tried this all and the beef stood out. the sticks displayed might seem a little less than it should but we have to compliment how fast they refill each plate.

salmon head and belly; and mussels. look at those! the freshest catch we’ve seen 🙂 some veggies for cooking too. add your desired veggies on your meat plate and go to the cooking area. the line may tend to go longer at this station. and be prepared to wait for much longer for the finished product.

we got our cooked food around 15 minutes after we got it lined up at the cooking station. we had the kebabs and pork belly grilled. then for the mussels, we had it baked with cheese and garlic. for the salmon and shrimp, we had it cooked as seafood sinigang. the broth is yummmmm!

drinks station– iced teas in different flavors, with your choice of toppings. they also have coffee and other juices on the side.

crepe station– fruits, nuts and chocolates are the heart of this station. an accommodating chef will prepare your customized crepe, just choose what’s inside, toppings and ice cream flavor, if you want it a la mode. our pick – chocolate chip crepe with cookies and cream ice cream and pistachio toppings. this is looooooveee!!

midas cafe might not have the most choices of foods and number of stations but it’s a good place when you just want a peaceful buffet. there’s no pressure on eating as the resto is not crowded at all and the spaces for each table is good enough to enjoy privacy. this cafe is a perfect example of quality over quantity type of buffet 🙂

value for money: since we didn’t pay for the full price, it’s worth it! we booked via eatigo and selected a time and date that offers 50% off the total bill. you may sign up here and book your date, too!

a sweet treat, from us and eatigo, when you sign up and book using our link or referral code: datefortwo, get a p150 gift certificate of your choice from one of eatigo’s restaurant-partners! so you’ll get this gc on top of the 50% discount. this one’s a steal!

i think midas lunch buffet is perfect if your looking for high quality food and five star service without being overwhelmed with a thousand options.

with the increasing number of all you can eat joints in the metro, it appears like they're battling it out through quantity rather than quality. that isn't the case in this hotel restaurant. they have great bite-sized appetizers, a japanese station with decent rolls and sashimi selections, grill station, pasta station, noodle station, mongolian station, and of course bread and dessert stations. the dessert station is overflowing with cakes, cookies, churros, and frozen delights, plus a crepe station. though i think they need to leave the crepes on for abitlonger as they were abitundercooked for me.

if money is no object, midas cafe is a great place to enjoy an exquisite lunch buffet of great, beautifully set up food; fine, comfortable ambience and attentive staff.

service
i would say the service is not so good. it took them 20mins to get our orders. and we were told the food will be serve in about 10-15mins but it took us about 30-40 mins before we finally savor the dish. plus waiters are nowhere to be found when needed. im not sure if it has something to do with the interior but i think they were having an event on one part of the dining but still i suggest there are designated waiters for each post so they can accommodate everyone.

food
i ordered for pan-seared marinated salmon steak and it was perfectly cooked with marble potatoes on the side. tasty and perfect for diet. 👌🏻
hainan chicken rice is a favorite. the sauces greatly compliments the soft, savory chicken.
tonkatsu is okay. it's just that the pork belly is a littlebitdisturbing.

ambience
temperature is perfect. you can comfortably enjoy your meal. there are couches in the al fresco where you can smoke and/or inhale fresh air after dining.
over-all it was a nice experience.
two thumbs up!@

midas cafe buffet, you are one of the best reasons to visit pasay city. and here i am...enjoying the abundance of delicious food. this buffet really pays attention to detail. from the fancy station decorations, to all the individual tasting plates.

there are different areas for different cuisines but the japanese and carving stations are usually the most backed up because everyone is trying to get their fill on things such as maki, sashimi, usda prime rib, etc.

there's an area for asian cuisine, with things such as dim sum and dumplings, pork ribs, fried rice, pork and egg yolk buns, an area for american/italian food with stuff such as pastas, salads, potatoes, and steaks.

pace yourself and try not to fill up with too many good stuff on your first round! just take your time and try abitof everything. there was no single dish or item that i could rave about but the overall experience was very pleasant and delicious.

their unique juices from dalandan, to mango, to four seasons, were interesting and a thirst quencher. don't forget the back area where they have artisan breads, meats, and cheeses. if you go back further, you'll eventually hit the dessert station.

their dessert area is huge and has cute little desserts on small plates. i think one of my most favorite stations here is the crepe station. you can have your crepes made-to-order and they come out really hot and fresh.

the service is fast and friendly and they don't rush you while you enjoy your meal. bathrooms are nearby and i love the ambiance of the buffet. my mouth is drooling as i write this review and i can't wait to go back!

many thanks to the staff and chefs of midas cafe for hosting me. thank you for such a wonderful afternoon. i highly recommend cafe midas to anyone looking for good quality buffet food at reasonable prices.

***food and drinks are complimentary.

"surprisingly unexpected" pretty much describes the foodie event at the midas hotel and casino last week, march 10th. i joined a gathering of zomato's top reviewers, bloggers, and food-ographers (instagrammers) to sample the buffet at the midas cafe, which is on the second floor of the hotel. we were greeted by the management and head chefs of midas, as well as the top honchos at zomato. i must say, it feels great to be spoiled, and we hadn't even started raiding the buffet yet. it must be the midas touch.

my first stop is at the carving station, because life is too short for salad and appetizers. i am used to having a selection of at least three proteins at the carving stations of most buffet restaurants, so it was abitof a shock to find only one here. but the one that midas cafe had is so good, it almost made me forget about not having roast turkey and lechon. excellent roast beef served with your choice of peppercorn sauce, red wine sauce, classic mushroom gravy, dijon mustard, and pommery. the mushroom gravy was abitweak, so i would recommend the red wine sauce instead. if you're feeling adventurous, try the pommery with your beef. it looks and tastes like a coarsely ground mustard, with an almost negligible level of heat, and slightly more tangy than it is sweet. you will not regret being handed a fatty slice of roast once you slather it with the pommery. it is the highlight of my week.

the braised fish fillet was slightly overcooked, but seemed like a promising dish on account of the hefty portions and the flavorful sauce.

my next plate was from the asian dishes station. i had king dao spareribs, pork spareribs with tausi, and a piece each of the oat mantao and custard bun. the custard bun is my second favorite dish of the buffet. a warm, soft dough with a rich, velvety filling that reminded me of the filling of a high-quality egg tart. both sparerib dishes were really good too, but it wouldn't hurt to put a stronger, more assertive flavor to the king dao.

the other dishes that put the checkmarks in all the right boxes were the beef kaldereta, beef fried rice, grilled salmon, and cheesy baked tahong. i wish i had more room in my stomach to sample the dishes at the noodles station, the grilling station, and the cheese and desserts. i'll have to put the rest off till my next visit.

the best table at the midas cafe seems to be the one with the skylight, the one with the green glass foliage installation overheaad. but any table or seat in the house will do just as well, because the seating here is not as cramped as the other popular buffet restos.

i look forward to booking an overnight stay at the midas hotel and casino soon to try the other two restaurants here. thank you zomato and midas for a great foodie event!

i have been here several times before and still their buffet is appealing to me. do not expect such an extensive buffet because they have limited choices but still you will find everything to your liking. there's a pasta station, bread station, fresh seafood section wherein you can have all the prawns that you want! a salad station, roast beef and lechon station, dimsum, continental and filipino station. see? there's a littlebitof everything. i've been told that the owners are from bicol, so expect their filipino dishes to be of bicol origin. don't forget the dessert station! yup, since i have a sweet tooth i try to eat everything and anything that's here. pardon my photos which are mostly cakes and pastries that i consumed here. oh, they also got premium sushi and sashimi. worth your buck.

i expected much from midas café because the dishes were abiton the pricey side. i ordered pan-seared marinated salmon steak, but got quite disappointed after taking the first bite. although huge, the salmon was slightly overcooked and was too hard. i strongly felt that the dish could still be improved with proper seasoning, and with the addition of herbs or spices.

the parma ham panizza had a thin, and crispy crust. the combination was quite basic, which was why the dish totally worked. i also got try their freshly squeezed orange juice but i found it too sweet. i requested for another one with less sugar/syrup, and they gladly made me another one.

we decided to try out the midas hotel's restaurant a few weeks ago. partly due to curiosity, partly due to the desire for a hotel buffet eating binge. getting a big discount coupon from an online outfit pretty much sealed the deal. at almost half off, why not give it a shot?

the hotel is located along roxas boulevard, near the intersection from edsa. a good spot for tourists, as they can get a nice faceful of manila bay sunset daily (barring the weather that is). parking is abitof an issue; the outside parking spaces were all full by dinnertime. the inside was all sparkly and new, but it did feel abitcramped for some reason. probably because the building's a little on the petite side. there's a casino somewhere in the hotel, and a bunch of restaurants as well. we only got to try the midas cafe tonight, because that's where the buffet was.

the highlight of the buffet is the fresh meat/seafood section where you can select your protein and have the kitchen serve it up to you cooked however you want it (well, as long as they know how you want it done anyway). salmon, mussels, pork belly slices, kebabs and lots of other meat here, waiting to get cooked.

chesca goes for the sushi bar offerings and some greens first. it was just okay, not really that great. i tried out some of the cooked stuff first. there was some beef tongue and another beef dish in a tomato based sauce that i liked. the sweet and sour pork and the salmon, not so much. the roast beef (with some added cooking from the kitchen) was also just ok. the beef kebabs they had were surprisingly tender and tasty though. pork belly was nice, kind of reminded us of a korean joint's food. i had a second helping of chicken cacciatore, "buttered" vegetables and some fish with pesto cream sauce. the chicken was nice and meaty, the vegetables were ok, but the fish was a little on the salty side for me. pesto sauce was good enough though.

the come-on of the buffet was pretty much the "have it your way" philosophy they had. it was pretty much the hotel version of the "dampa" style eateries (who happen to be nearby). butter garlic shrimp, baked mussels, you name it, they can make it (probably). they even said they could cook up sinigang for you. taste-wise, its nice enough: the seafood is fresh and the cooking was good.

we found the location of the carving station abitodd, as it's right behind a large pillar at the entrance; it takes a little hide-and-seek skill to find it. we were kind of under the impression that you want to highlight this spot because it's the "fancy" food that everyone seems to go for.

they also had some after dinner offerings that included mini pastries and the ever famous halo-halo station. we only tried a few of them, and again, nothing really of any note here.

at about 1700php per head, it really is quite a stretch considering the quality of the food. it's not that bad, it's just not that great either. i guess we could have made more use of the kitchen, but there's only so much they can do, anyways. if you want to try it here, go right on ahead. just make sure you get a discount coupon, like we did.

me and my teammates from accenture inc. choose this place to have our get-together. at first, the hotel looks old and doesn't seem to look like a very fine hotel but when we reach cafe midas and tastes all of the foods in here, it seems like where in heaven. filipino, japanese, some french and some italian cuisine are presented in their menu.

pork meals are very tender, soups are very fantastic, california maki is a wow!! and the pasta is very delicate. pork belly is also a must try in midas. its tender and tasty.

pasta here are served fresh, and they will cook it on your preferred ingredients. i choose the basil pasta, with fresh tomatos, mushrooms and some olives with a littebitof cheese. i highly recommend this setup for pasta since its very delicious.

the juice are created naturally and desserts here especially the crepe is also a must try.

i really want to try it again in midas but you need to at least have some amount of money to try it here. ;)
