visited this place on a weekendeveningand it was very much occupied by 6.30pm.
luckily we did make a reservation and got a very comfortable seating.
the ambiance is lightly lit very cozy for family get together and kid friendly.

we tried katenga. its a ethiopian bread cooked with butter and pepper very tasty and fulfilling.

for the main course we ordered doro aletcha , doro tibs. these dishes come with mildly spiced chicken and along with a choice of your veggie dish. i ordered atkilt aletcha & kik aletcha .

the service was very fast and quick. food tasted really well.

overall- 5 stars

favorite north jersey restaurant!. i love mesob!! i have been a regular customer for the past 5 years or so, and i continue to make the pilgrimmage here after moving over an hour and a half away because it is just so good! it is a family-run place and you can tell by the friendly and welcoming service. the decor is so unique and beautiful, with traditional artwork on the walls, an exposed brick wall and lit up center coffee bar. as soon as you enter, you nose is tantalized with the delicious aroma of exotic spices and roasted coffee beans and just adds to the comforting welcome. the food, presented family style without utensils in the traditional ethiopian way, promotes sharing with your group and a funeveningfor everyone! i usually gravitate towards the stewed lamb dishes, which are consistently exceptional, but if you are feeling adventurous (and this place feeds your appetite for adventure) try the kitfo (raw ground beef and spices served with cooling tart farmer's cheese). there is also a vegan side of the menu that is delicious as well (i am not a vegan, but have tried the stewed mushroom dish - heavenly!). i can't say enough about this place. just go, and you will see what i mean!

no hospitality. it was a spectular saturdayeveningshopping with a girlfriend, we had finally carved out aneveningtogether just to shop and enjoy. after spending about two hours on church street, i had suggested that we finish off this jublianteveningat mesobre restaurant over some aromatically soothing tea and some delectable dessert.
when we arrived at mesob, around 6 p.m. the restaurant was virtually empathy - great from our perspective.

as we jovially announced to the host that we had beening shopping for hours and needed a pick-me-up, some of that aromatic tea and dessert, she exclaimed, " we have a lot of reservations and you will have to sit at the bar. i looked around and counted eight empty tables.
again, i requested could we sit at one of the five empty table for two. the host bruptly respond, " yes, but you will have to eat quickly because we have a lot of reservations for dinner!" i did know that mesob was a fast food restuarant. we decided not to stay and see if the tea shop on glenridge ave was still open. well, we walked to the bank and then to the tea shop find it closed ( about ten minutes had lapsed). on our way back to the car we pasted mesob restaurant looking in side to see only one of those empty tables now occupied.

i took my friend home ( we live in montclair) and just out of curiosity returned to mesob ( approximately 45 minutes had lapsed since the incident), peering inside from the window counting four tables still empty.

it was a rare opportunity for me to spend time shopping on church street, and instead of concluding a memoriable nigt out with my girlfriendeveningover some savory dessert at mesob those memories were tainted. ironically, david corcoran, new york times restaurant critic view of mesob was, " there is one thing you will certainly not want and that is to leave." we just wanted to get a seat.
