it's my first time tryingethiopiancuisine and i had a good experience. we were three and ordered meat sampler for 2 which was sufficient. lamb was very delicious and the chicken was not so tasty. we got potatoes, pureed chick peas, yellow split peas and lentils for four veg sides. chick peas were average but the rest were good.
the ambiance here is very authentic and spacious compared to many other restaurants. i would definitely go here again.

visited this place on a weekend evening and it was very much occupied by 6.30pm.
luckily we did make a reservation and got a very comfortable seating.
the ambiance is lightly lit very cozy for family get together and kid friendly.

we tried katenga. its aethiopianbread cooked with butter and pepper very tasty and fulfilling.

for the main course we ordered doro aletcha , doro tibs. these dishes come with mildly spiced chicken and along with a choice of your veggie dish. i ordered atkilt aletcha & kik aletcha .

the service was very fast and quick. food tasted really well.

overall- 5 stars

wonderful dinner last night. our first time withethiopiancuisine. all our apps and main course were vegetarian. what i especially liked about the food was that the rich variety of spices was not overwhelmed by salt. great desserts, too.

goodethiopianfood!. i recommend ordering the platter your first time to get a sense for their use of spices and flavor profiles. the vegetable platter is more tasty compared to the meat platter as it is mostly ground beef with slightly different spices.

the interior is quite dark as it is barely lit but it adds to the ambiance. the staff is courteous and welcoming.

picky eaters beware as this fare is more for the adventurous type!

who knew getting an audi would take me to a town called montclair in new jersey all the way from newport in jersey city to eatethiopianfood, when i haven’t exhausted my nyc restaurant list, yet! the place looked more upscale (if you will), then any of theethiopianrestaurants i have been to till date.  the food is not the best (i think meskerem in nyc leads), but the food is not bad.  infact, there are a few more vegetarian options for the platter than some of the other places that i have been to.  the timatim fitfit here was the best amongst all the places i’ve been to.  maybe the generous lemon juice did it, but it did do it well. according to the menu, mesob would accommodate gluten free foods, replacing the injera with a gluten free item (that requires an earlier request of about two days), rice or pasta.  this was a first for anethiopianrestaurant that i’ve visited, yet. the service was very polite.  sure visit if you are in the area.   http://www.mesobrestaurant.com/ 40.8149

favorite north jersey restaurant!. i love mesob!! i have been a regular customer for the past 5 years or so, and i continue to make the pilgrimmage here after moving over an hour and a half away because it is just so good! it is a family-run place and you can tell by the friendly and welcoming service. the decor is so unique and beautiful, with traditional artwork on the walls, an exposed brick wall and lit up center coffee bar. as soon as you enter, you nose is tantalized with the delicious aroma of exotic spices and roasted coffee beans and just adds to the comforting welcome. the food, presented family style without utensils in the traditionalethiopianway, promotes sharing with your group and a fun evening for everyone! i usually gravitate towards the stewed lamb dishes, which are consistently exceptional, but if you are feeling adventurous (and this place feeds your appetite for adventure) try the kitfo (raw ground beef and spices served with cooling tart farmer's cheese). there is also a vegan side of the menu that is delicious as well (i am not a vegan, but have tried the stewed mushroom dish - heavenly!). i can't say enough about this place. just go, and you will see what i mean!

it's a different type of food, but its really really delicious! the atmosphere is nice and casual. the food is hard to describe if you've never hadethiopianfood before. but the vegetables and sauces they make are just so flavorful, if you haven't been there its definitely something to try!

the food is both authetic and prepared with attention to quality and the sensibilities of it's patrons. for example, the chefs go to great lengths to strike the fine balance between flavor and autheticity. in ethiopia, people believe that excessive amounts of oil make a dish "special.". (so if you have ever had oilyethiopianfood, you now know why - it was "special"). however mesob has adapted the ancient cooking traditions of ethiopia to give a unique dining experience in a warm environment.

family warmth. i love mesob - the staff and owners always take special time to welcome you. the food is the bestethiopiani have eaten (and i've eaten it in nj and ny) - perfect blending of those great spices. and, always thinking of their diners, they've added desserts to the menu - all freshly made. that's another thing i love about this restaurant - all the food is freshly made, no canned food, no frozen foods, no preservatives.
