a new chef and an updated more sophisticated menu elevates what was once an above average corner bistro. if you haven't been in a while you should come back in and see the changes. no more a burger/sandwich place but a finer more elevated experience. the bar is a well appointed and professionally run with experienced and knowledgeable bartenders. the appetizers are delicious, especially the south west escargot though a few more toast points would have been nice. the beef is well seasoned, prepared and delicious. the frenched chicken is exceptional. the servers were very attentive and knowledgeable. this is not the mesagrillof three years ago. this is its worldly, stylish big brother.

went to the mesa streetgrillto celebrate my birthday last night. my wife and i had 6:30 p.m. reservations. i ordered the 30 oz. waygu beef tomahawk steak ($78). the wife ordered her usual, the double pork chop. i ordered my steak medium rare. the steak came out well done. i informed the waiter, and he took the steak away. my wife’s pork chop was perfectly cooked. while i was waiting for my new steak, my wife ate her meal. i noticed that my two sides, lobster mac & cheese, and twice baked potato, were getting cold. when my new steak came, it was cooked perfectly. but, now my sides were cold. i asked the waiter to warm up my sides, and he took them away. instead of warming up my sides, they decided to make me new ones. so there i was, eating a steak with no side dishes. by the time the sides came out, i was done with my steak. i had them box up the sides because i had finished eating the portion of the steak, and i was full. my wife and i usually eat at the mesa streetgrillfor all the big events in our lives, birthdays, valentine’s day, etc. we will not be returning. worst birthday meal ever, and that is saying a lot as i have spent birthdays in both iraq and afghanistan.

richard and i had driven by mesa streetgrillcountless times. both in its old location and in its newer location on the westside, near utep. but somehow we’d managed to not get there for a meal until today. we were ready for a good lunch, and mesa streetgrilldelivered!. the first thing we noticed was plenty of parking, and we were told that parking is typically no problem at this location (even during the busiest hours). that’s always a plus. we made our way up to the entrance and were pleasantly surprised when we walked inside. mesa streetgrillis very attractive, with tables well spaced and very nice décor. we were digging this! we’d made a reservation on opentable, and our hostess was already aware of our reservation. she asked if we would prefer to eat in the dining room, on the patio, or in the bar and we chose the dining room on this hot summer day.

terrible service. on 03nov12 at around 7pm my husband and i met another couple at this restaurant. it took nearly 2 1/2 hours for our meal to arrive. first, we ordered 2 appetizers from one waiter then about 45 minutes later another waiter asked if we were ready to order at which time we let him know we were still waiting on our appetizers. at no time did any of the staff introduce themselves nor did the manager ever come by to see how his customers were doing, but instead spent a great deal of time at the hostess desk appearing to be chatting up the hostesses. when our main course finally arrived about an hour after we ordered it my ancho steak with mango salsa was cooked well done when i asked for medium and the 'salsa' was nothing more than canned peaches. my husband ordered the ribeye with the lobster macaroni and cheese and the steak came but it was more than 20 minutes until the mac n cheese arrived. before we left we asked to speak to the manager and i would be happy to share his name ,but when my husband introduced himself the manager never offered his name - it would have been about 10:05 pm at this time. the manager's only explanation for our experience was that they were busy and as for sending my steak back he said he had no idea. at no time did he sincerely apologize or in any way encourage us to give the restaurant another chance. whoever this manager was seemed to not care and certainly was not willing to take any responsibility and had no comment when i mentioned that he did not walk the floor the entire time (again this was 2 1/2 hours) we were there. if the mesa streetgrillwas so busy on this occasion it would stand to reason that a good and qualified manager would have stepped up and helped his staff and at minimum moved throughout the room ensuring that the customers were having a pleasant experience. this restaurant does not belong on the top of any list.

food disappointing. we recently moved to el paso, and being a "foodie", i have been researching restaurants. we were excited to try out the mesa streetgrilllast night. the ambiance and service at the outside patio was wonderful. a waitress sang to a table and it was beautiful. being friday night, we were surprised the outside patio wasn't packed. however, once we received our food we understood. the bone-in ribeye was extremely tough and had little flavor. we ate about 4 bites (we seriously couldn't cut it) and brought the rest home to our puppy. our pooch also enjoyed an under done baked potatoe. my lobster bisque was ok, except it was served with 3 cheap store bought wheat crackers. the only highlight in the food category was the lobster mac and cheese we had for an appetizer. we enjoyed the service and ambiance so much we will return. however, just for appetizers and drinks.

love it! valentines day. i took my valentine to mesa streetgrillon valentines weekend. i have always had great food and service there, but the restaurant really made this occasion special! every detail was thought out and the place looked amazing! roses all over the restaurant, candles, and even little hearts on every table. not only was the place beautiful the menu made for two was outstanding. that included 4 courses and wine. i got the ribeye and my girl got the loster tail that was made with pasta both of our meals were delicious. also, timely....despite every table in the place was full. the service was outstanding and we never waited for anything. the manager stopped at our table to check on everything which was a nice touch and towards the end of our dinner our server brought my girl a red rose. this place is always amazing! i suggest it to everyone i know!
