mesa street grill

does not match the price.. my guest and i had heard that this was one of el paso’s finer restaurants. the ambiance was welcoming and had an image of sophistication. however this was the peak of the dinner, once seated we were given single card stock paper menus, usually given at every restaurant, but were covered with crusted food from previous customers. the prices were a bit in the high for el paso but given the restaurant prestige, it was understood. the waiter offered my guest water from a glass bottle, i then relies that it was a recycled glass bottle, worn away by multiple uses, with tap water inside (no ice). after ordering the waiter disappeared for a usual length of time in which two other waiters offered to refill out cups of water, still waiting for drink orders. sometime later our entrees appear with our original waiter. my original selection was not available and i was promptly notified and so i ask the waiter for ideas for subsituition not to take time to take second look at the menu. my guest enjoyed the food however my plate the "rib-eye cocktail" was nothing more than over cooked chopped steak with canned tomatoes and slightly cooked onions topped with cheese, served with tortillas, cooked on a burner (half cold). when cutting into the meal the mixture of oil and fat with the slewed tomatoes was unappetizing, when questioned about the amount of grease, the waiter stated "the steaks are really marbled and that is the reason for the extra grease”, steak was not marble but had large pieces of fat mixed in. in all would not recommend this establishment.

still on the fence. had the steak and crab cakes and it wasn't memorable. the place is nice and staff is too, so i'll have to give it another shot. good place to take a date.

horrible. second visit, and both times a disappointment. the service is beyond horrible. the service personnel and manager go out of their way to be condescending. you almost feel discriminated against. i feel worse because i went thru this twice. how does this place stay open? do not visit this restaurant. you will regret it.

never go back. we try to eat somewhere new and try different restaurants and this is one that we will never go back to. the service was terrible, we had to wait 20 minutes for our waiter to come introduce himself, another 10 minutes for drinks and we had to ask for our bread because we noticed all of the other tables had complimentary bread. he took our order and never came back. we had to ask about our food which was brought out after waiting for 30 minutes and had obviously been sitting in the window too long because it was really hot and way over cooked. our waiter finally brought us the check. the other diners had their food way before us even though they arrived after us. when the manager came over she apologized for the wait and explained that they were busy. if they consider that busy then they are in trouble when they really do get busy because they could hardly keep up with barely any customers. to top it all off the food was waaayyy to expensive for the service, the flavor, and what you got. we will not be returning!

from the service to the food you won't be disappointed. either dining privately with your special date out as a group and partying in their outdoor patio area mesa st. is the place to go.

they will make sure all who are present will have an unforgettable experience.

you guys have the perfect place to have any spontaneous event everything about this place delights my senses. please keep growing and delivering the fantastic service you provide for us here in el paso. please keep the recepie and the management. best in town. definitely recommend this place happens to manage and deliver efficiently, with good attitude and a smile 😀

food was alright. i see this place more some where i want to go during happy hour for drinks and appetizers. i don't think the cost and food is worth it for their main meals. definitely nice having the live music, although sometimes it can be too loud. check it out for happy hour. i brought the steak bone back last time and gave it to my dog, who loved it. service is great however and it might be a place you take someone on a date to. i'm not sure. ask that person you like, not me, what do i know.

i was truly hoping on loving mesa street grill.. the environment is on point inside. the professionalism of the staff is fantastic. however, there weren't as many options as i hoped there would be on the menu. the only ones that did catch me eye were just starter dishes. the actual food was just okay. unfortunately, i left there thinking the money would've been better spent at cattleman's steakhouse.

a new chef and an updated more sophisticated menu elevates what was once an above average corner bistro. if you haven't been in a while you should come back in and see the changes. no more a burger/sandwich place but a finer more elevated experience. the bar is a well appointed and professionally run with experienced and knowledgeable bartenders. the appetizers are delicious, especially the south west escargot though a few more toast points would have been nice. the beef is well seasoned, prepared and delicious. the frenched chicken is exceptional. the servers were very attentive and knowledgeable. this is not the mesa grill of three years ago. this is its worldly, stylish big brother.

went to the mesa street grill to celebrate my birthday last night. my wife and i had 6:30 p.m. reservations. i ordered the 30 oz. waygu beef tomahawk steak ($78). the wife ordered her usual, the double pork chop. i ordered my steak medium rare. the steak came out well done. i informed the waiter, and he took the steak away. my wife’s pork chop was perfectly cooked. while i was waiting for my new steak, my wife ate her meal. i noticed that my two sides, lobster mac & cheese, and twice baked potato, were getting cold. when my new steak came, it was cooked perfectly. but, now my sides were cold. i asked the waiter to warm up my sides, and he took them away. instead of warming up my sides, they decided to make me new ones. so there i was, eating a steak with no side dishes. by the time the sides came out, i was done with my steak. i had them box up the sides because i had finished eating the portion of the steak, and i was full. my wife and i usually eat at the mesa street grill for all the big events in our lives, birthdays, valentine’s day, etc. we will not be returning. worst birthday meal ever, and that is saying a lot as i have spent birthdays in both iraq and afghanistan.

richard and i had driven by mesa street grill countless times. both in its old location and in its newer location on the westside, near utep. but somehow we’d managed to not get there for a meal until today. we were ready for a good lunch, and mesa street grill delivered!. the first thing we noticed was plenty of parking, and we were told that parking is typically no problem at this location (even during the busiest hours). that’s always a plus. we made our way up to the entrance and were pleasantly surprised when we walked inside. mesa street grill is very attractive, with tables well spaced and very nice décor. we were digging this! we’d made a reservation on opentable, and our hostess was already aware of our reservation. she asked if we would prefer to eat in the dining room, on the patio, or in the bar and we chose the dining room on this hot summer day.

not what it used to be..... the good part is that the new location has beautiful décor - there was a lovely live harpist performing for valentine's day. the stuffed jalapenos were still good - the waiter was really nice.

the bad part - really slow service (and this was before the rush). they apparently no longer know how to make a vodka martini. what i got was a watery vodka-flavored slush. when i asked for it to be redone, i got another, somewhat less watery slush. finally the waiter offered to make me a proper vodka martini and i wound up with gin. i didn't have the heart to send it back a fourth time.

also, my $10 caesar salad consisted of - count them - three leaves of lettuce, 2 croutons and a little cup of caesar dressing. ....food for art, i guess. considering what we paid for what we got, don't think we'll be going back.

rudest hosts ever. third time in a row, not coming back. won't even talk to you on the phone and if you're there they'll make your experience a really bad one.

$9 for a wedge that is like a side salad? so not worth it.

a complete waste of money. unfortunately, we chose to celebrate our daughter's birthday at mesa street grill. we had eaten at its previous location and enjoyed it. however the new location's beautiful design could not make up for the horrible food. the steak that my daughter ordered was rare rather than medium rare. after sending it back, she had to wait at least 15 minutes for the order to be corrected . the steak was not only a smaller portion but now well done! the mashed potatoes were bland and the asparagus bitter. when i made the reservation, i was told that she would be surprised with a slice of chocolate cake to mark the occasion. that never happened.

terrible, terrible, terrible service. if you want a salad, prepare to wait two hours and hope you get what you irdered
