an absolutely terrible experience with merwans, parel. got a red velvet cake for my parents anniversary and the fresh cream in the cake had gone bad. (it was bought at 9:30am and cut by 10:30am - so it's supposed to be fresh) the cake tasted like sour coconut.
on taking it back to the store and making the staff taste it, they initially agreed with me about the bad taste, but once the manager started saying that it's okay, the staff also changed their opinion and started saying it's okay. see, it takes a special kind of person to eat a spoilt cake and say that there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.
i walked out of there, but not before apologizing to all of them, because the mistake is not theirs, it's mine. see i have been living in the suburbs since i was a kid and a merwans cake (from andheri station) was always a part of all our family events since more than 2 decades, but expecting the parel outlet to duplicate the quality and customerserviceof my childhood experience was wrong on my part.
so, lesson learnt. will not be going to these guys again. as i come out of this negative experience let's look at the bright side. it's still my parents anniversary and good cake shops who really care about their customers are still available.
