my daughter recently had her 21st birthday party at mercetta. it was amazing. the food was delicious and theserviceexceptional. the staff were so attentive and helpful. they were also able to organise the dj and security and helped us decorate before the event. 5***** great decor and superb outdoor area. the staff stored our leftover cake and decorations overnight and when we went back for breakfast the next day we were given help to take our stuff to the car! fantastic!!

great food and service. cafe 115 is a mornington icon and never lets you down and last weekend was no exception. i had the 115 burger and boy did it hit the spot, 3 pieces of beef and all the trimmings its that big it needs a knife to hold it together.my friends had the the marinara pasta and risotto both of which loved it. the staff where friendly andservicewas very prompt. ive been to most of the cafe's on the peninsula but always love coming back here.

first of all this venue is to die for. the menu, absolutely superb. mercetta mornington is everything i want my life to be. prices are a little steep but i am yet to recieve my order so we'll see if its worth it. but lets start from the beginning before i lose track. i arrive, bump into a waitress who was apologetic and honestly seemed real sweet. but that was where it ended, she walked away without asking what i was after, offering me a menu, or even seating me to a table (here's the thing about dining all by my lonesome, in the hustle and bustle of a pumping local cafe, a single girl can be invisible to waitstaff). so i stood awkwardly by the front door, pacing and looking around, trying to draw some attention to myself a little to obviously. i didn't mind that too much because the atmosphere was so electric it was a field day for a people-watcher like myself. a few minutes pass when a handsome young hipster points me to a table (with the menu i found on a counter while i was being ignored) only to then be avoided for another few minutes after i had contemplated the ins and outs of every dish and drink and changed my mind multiple times, back and forth between juices and milkshakes, breakfast menu or lunch menu. finally a bubbly waitress spotted me in my corner and with some refreshingly niceservicefrom a human being (not a hospitality robot which i find so common) i ordered orange juice, the  mercetta hot chocolate and mercetta reuben sandwich. im not sure why places name half their dishes after their  establishment, perhaps ego? but hey, i guess it worked for mcdonalds. mercheeseburger anyone? it only took a few minutes for my hot chocolate to arrive with my orange juice but only seconds after, my sandwich too. now my plan was to enjoy my hot chocolate in all it's theatre while my meal was prepared, and to acompany the meal with my oj. didnt really work that way my friends. lets take a second to discuss the sandwich...

holy god of gherkins thankyou for this blessing of a reuben sandwich. ladies and gentlemen and everyone in between i have reached the gates of pickled heaven and they are here at 115 main street mornington. soft, lightly toasted dark rye, warmed pastrami (and loads of it), a well balanced amount of sharp dijon, swiss cheese which promised to be melty but wasnt quite there, and last but not least, 2 beautiful varieties of pickley goodness. long sliced gherkins, i'm assuming not house made which is fine by me, who has the time for that. and a generous pile of house made pickled cabbage, soft yet crunchy, juicy but not soggy, strong but not deadly. absolutely divine. i surrender, life could end now and i would be ecstatic. bravo to the chef for smashing this impressively simple but flavourfully complex dish together without messing it up. my hat goes off to you sir. (to all the readers, i type the previous sentence while eyeballing the chef through a table of mums and babies and the kitchens heat lamps. not creepy at all i promise.) finally, mercetta's signature hot chocolate was so much fun. i do love a bit of an experiment and theatre when dining. chocolate 3 ways with frothed chocolate milk and persian fairy floss. its a little fidly but i can't fault. a must try.
as i went to pay the bill i found myself awkwardly standing at the bar with the same waitress from earlier, directly opposite me polishing glasses and again, ignoring me. i realise now shes older than i realised at first glance. i hope she doesnt run the place because i frankly wasn't happy with her customer service. finally she looked up and i paid and left feeling slightly uncomfortable.

overall: food was great, this is definitely my new favourite lunch spot. the hot chocolate was beautiful, yet to try their coffee.servicedefinitely needs work. not just a friendly manner when serving a customer but things like taking a drink order as soon as i sit down. simple things guys.

×edit×

ding ding ding round 2. busy busy day, the cafe smells amazing, this place is so trendy, all the customers look like they're famous on instagram or something. good news, i was served right away. i entered from the back terrace so i bumped into a waiter (not literally this time) almost immediately. nice latte! a bit heavy on the froth but hey it was delish, im no coffee snob. today i ordered breakfast. a plate of eggs and spinach and ham and tomatoes and mushrooms and holondaisey goodness is exactly what i need. im sitting at this cute ass little table in an indoor-outdoor area, directly underneath a heater which is super nice. 1 oclock must be the first lul of the lunchservicebecause all of a sudden the cafe is half empty and the staff have whipped up all the dishes in no time at all. impressive. im really happy with my dining experience today! my food was divine, although $4 each for the mushrooms and tomatoes was a bit steep, i guess they can get away with it! perfect poached eggs, yummy sauce, everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. it was exactly what i wanted. my waitress brought me a second coffee and didn't clear my perfectly empty plate (i may have licked it clean but i don't think anyone saw so i think i got away with it), so my table was a little cramped but whatever. overall, super happy, on my way home for a food induced nap. well done mercetta. get used to me, im your newest regular.

terribleservice& disappointing food. the pork belly was very dry and tasteless. i would definitely not reorder this dish.

moreover, my boyfriend and i arrived at the venue and we were not served until 20 minutes after sitting down and trying to get a waiter’s attention. the cafe wasn’t even busy.

the staff were not the least bit friendly. definitely would not recommend going.

with a large amount of restaurants, cafes and pubs to choose from, this place stood out amongst the many. seating indoors, outdoors on the street or at the rear. perfect for families as there is plenty of room to move around.
my partner had the eggs benedict and it looked tasty with a generous portion size.
plenty of cakes to choose from. takeaway is popular too.
toilets on site although not necessarily wheelchair accessible. parking out the front can be challenging but there is plenty around.
staff were excellent andservicewas fast. dietaries catered for.

i booked in advance for my birthday brunch and i was really excited to try this place out since it had so many good reviews, only to be very disappointed.

first impression of this place was not great. i found the manager/host really rude and stand-offish when i asked politely
if it would be possible to move to a different table. it got worse,
while ordering our food, i mentioned to our server that my friend is highly allergic to basil and if we could substitute certain ingredients. he didn’t really listen so i had to mention it again and tell him to please make sure there’s no basil because she will end up in hospital. one of the kitchen staff brought us our food and made a joke about there being basil in all the foods and laughed i told him i didn’t find it funny. i asked the server as i was concerned and told me he was only joking. having allergies is not a joke, someone’s life is at stake. i will not eat there again, they lack customerserviceand the quantity of the food is not worth the price.

great cafe in mornington that consistently does good food and coffee. they are always adding new things to the menu which is good for returning customers.serviceis generally quick, however, at busy times you may have to wait.

we waited 15 minutes for even a drinks order to be taken. after being served the wrong food (staff having ignored an allergy request) i waited another 20 minutes for a replacement, while my partner's food went stone cold. there was no apology or even acknowledgement of the mistake and inconvenience - which could have made me seriously ill if not picked up. the place is insanely loud, some of which can't be avoided, but staff literally screaming at each other across theservicearea doesn't help.

absolutely terrible. i would’ve never stepped foot in this place if i had known how bad my food and experience would be. firstly we asked for a table of 7, we get escorted to the back and shown to our table and when we get there, 3 guys are sitting on it and we get squeezed on a smaller table of 6 with an extra chair cramped up. i asked the waiter if maybe he could politely inform the 3 guys that there is a party bigger than needs a table and if they could move to a smaller table and he refused. already in a not so great mood, we place our orders and wait for our food. a considerable amount of time passes and we are absolutely starving at this stage so i ask one of the workers to check on our food, said i’ve been waiting almost an hour (what it felt like) and he said to me it’s being plated up so i sit down, in fumes, containing my anger. then what really shocked me is he came back and told me that it’s only been 30 minutes, no apologies at all. what kind of establishment doesn’t apologise to customers about the wait and proceeds to tell me it’s only been that long? by this stage everyone is angry, unhappy and hopeful that the wait will salvage the situation. no. the people that got poached eggs were disappointed to see yolks cooked throughout. two of us got the piggy smalls sandwich and to our absolute demise, it had no flavour whatsoever. the chicken was bland, almost like as if it was boiled and not seasoned at all. i asked for cheese (which was an extra $1.50) to see it dried up as a poor attempt to melt coon cheese slices onto my turkish bread. bacon was chewy and not fresh. for the wait, the trouble, the terribleservice- it was not worth anything at all.

i will never be back.

my favourite part of my meal was the hash browns i ordered on the side and they also were a little soggy.

came to here for a late brunch yesterday with a group of friends (10-12), it was our first time coming here, foods and coffee we ordered were delicious and price wasn’t costly. the phenomena here was great, decorations and design are outstanding. the overall worth a 4/5, however theservicehere is totally bad, there is one male waiter( curly hair and wearing a black cap) was taking our coffee order, we told him an ice mocha and latte, latte make it 2, he misheard it as mocha and latte both make it 2. after we told him we did not order the extra mocha he was very pissed and assailed us by claiming he did not hear wrong at all, which there could be a possibility we said wrong. but he still took away the ice mocha and ignore us, we were very uncomfortable due to his attitude. after the delicious meals we payed and left, turns out he did not cancel the extra ice mocha and pretend like he did not know at all. this is the worstservicewe ever experienced. do you really treat customer with that way just because of a wrong order coffee, it’s not even our fault. so sorry i would only give a 1.0 rating due to this worst incident ever happened to me.

i've heard much about mercetta from family and friends. most notably from parents who love treating their kids to some of the amazing milkshakes they serve here. i often filter my cafe's based on coffee and wifi, and a quick check on www.zomato.com revealed they had both, so i walked up and looked forward to finding out what all the fuss had been about.

the general atmosphere here is good. the typical hustle and bustle of a popular cafe, and a nice background combination of music and chatter. not too loud. it's cold outside, and i'm greeted by the warmth of the warmth of the cafe, as well as smiles from a busy barista behind the front desk. the whole place is family friendly, with eas of access as well. the 'issue' of a table-for-one is something i'm used to encountering, but they find me a place up the back. mid way, however, i'm changed to a small and appropriate t41 opposite the kitchen. this is a cosy space which would be perfect if not for the draft coming from the stairs immediately behind me. sitting here will defintiely not be as cosy as i had hoped.

my coffee order taken. water served within minutes, and the coffee minutes after that.servicehere is good, and so is the coffee. in my experience, many cafe's are catching on to the almond milk 'trend', but the problem with being on the bandwagon is that if you don't know your shit, then you likely don't know you're shit. most cafe's that claim almond milk for coffee don't know how to almond milk for coffee. ask any lactose-sensitive person about the use of non bonsoy, and they'll tell you. mercetta doesn't disappoint here. the coffee is good, and they do good almond milk with it. another one to add to the list.

zomato confirmed that they have wifi, but when i asked for the password, they said they don't have any. a quick scan of local networks tells me that most people who are here are hotspotting, so must i.

a quick scan of the menu reveals a nice balance of diversity without being too complex. i opt for something simple, a freshly squeezed juice. the boss. this too comes out minutes after i order.

despite the busyness of the whole place, staff are courteous enough to have me comfortable and not feeling like i am in their way. this happens all too often unfortunately.

mercetta deserves it's reputation. the false listing on zomato for wifi is a let down, especially as it is a big draw for many people. however, the business thinking behind not opting for provision of wifi seems to be that those with wifi services attract customers who drink coffee, and sit for hours without ordering food. whilst occasionally i fall into this category, this isn't exactly a bad thing for those who claim mobile-office status. i would definitely bring my wife or my family here for breakfast or lunch, but i wouldn't come here again to get some work done.
