i wish i'd taken a picture!. so you go to a steakhouse for a steak, right? you won't be disappointed at the melrose grill in renton. i wish i had a photo of the filet served to me last night.: medium rare, chicago style, and when i asked if they could toss a slice of bleu cheese on top, without hesitation our server said yes.
it was perfection. the meat sliced easily and from my first bite i realized i should haveorderedthe larger steak. plenty for dinner, but what about leftovers for later? the cheese had a bite that only good bleu cheese has. every single bite was a delight. chicago style really is the best way to eat a fine piece of meat and this was cooked to absolute perfection.
i know most of you wine connoisseurs snub your noses at white wine, but i love a good glass of white wine. with the bartender's help, iordereda glass of waterbrook. in this day of importing this and importing that, it's a nice change to see an emphasis on the local wineries. i like local! and this white had a lovely flavor, not overpowering, just a nice addition to my meal.
i can't stop thinking about that steak. it was incredible. beautifully presented, fresh vegetables, gently sauteed with just a bit of crunch.
the staff was friendly but not overbearing. they certainly know their menu and just hearing them talk about the menu made it hard to choose.
oh, by the way, the beefsteak tomato and bleu cheese salad is now my favorite salad. i substituted this for the dinner salad and could have made a meal just of that salad.
desert? we were too full, but we saw some going by and they looked yummy.
