the steak is perfectly prepared as well as the fish entrees. great menu.

montana steak eaters. fabulous steaks done to perfection. parmesan potatoes were best we have ever eaten.
service was slightly better than poor. instead of selling the special, we were told it was up on the board if we wanted to see what it was. server was very glum, pretty inattentive. atmosphere was okay but very dark. we don't mind low lighting but this was almost 'flashlight' dark. hard to see what your eating.

always perfect. we absolutely love having 'date night' at the melrose grill. it is astounding that each time we order steaks, they are cooked to absolute perfection!! service is always wonderful and unsurpassed. we also appreciate the wine list, that seems to always have our favorite bottles. exceptional atmosphere, service and food. well done!

love this place. old saloon feel. beefsteak tomato and blue cheese salad is killer.

outstanding!. excellent service and wonderful selection on the menu. this place is very warm and comfortable. steaks were cooked perfect and tasted better than some of the best steak houses in the country. check out the nightly specials for wine and entree's. the ostrich was a great choice on a recent visit.

best steakhouse on the eastside!

easily my favorite place in the entire seattle area. fantastic food and great service. the hidden gem of renton.

we love coming to melrose. great neighborhood vibe, with amazing flavors at a great price for the quality! would recommend the filet and the stroganoff is delicious!

my steak was not as fine as it usually is, then i ordered a berry crisp that had some soggy oatmeal and butter on top of it. i advised the waitress it was under done and she said that is how it is make. i fail to see the crisp in it? overpriced for what we got. previous occasion the food was amazing. i hesitate to waist money on poor food with quality prices. hope they fix the consistency problem!

i was looking forward to dine here for quite some time, but i wasn't impressed at all. the service is good, they do make sure you're taken care of; however, the new york steak i had was very chewy. it had reminded me of the steaks at outback steakhouse. i was looking for quality and a different tenderness. they charge extra for getting a caesar salad, which tastes like air. they also charge you extra for toppings for baked potatoes. if you want to try good steak, i would recommend ruth's chris, daniel's broiler, el gaucho, or the metropolitan grill.

service was excellent, and the food and drinks were perfect.  the issue i had was farmed fish...not the kind of thing you'd expect in this caliber restaurant... for full price.    but if you like steak.. this is the place...cooked to perfection... in renton.

easily the best restaurant in renton. this historic little steakhouse has become our go-to spot for special weeknight dinners. the menu is straightforward and the service is always wonderful. the specials are good, but the steaks make the trip worthwhile!

great food, long wait.. the food was great, a bit pricey, but they don't' skimp on the portions so it's worth it. if you plan on going on a weekend, be sure to go early when they open but with a reservation.

-good sized portions
-cool atmosphere inside
-great spot to take a date
-great selection on scotch and bourbon

cons:
-gets really busy, so you'll want a reservation if you go when they open up
-very limited beer menu (although the beers they did have were excellent)
-not a lot of space for more private dining ( i.e. booths for a date/anniversary etc )
-relatively small space, so large groups could be challenging to get in
-service was cordial, but long. ended up waiting longer than we should have to get drinks and our order in

pleasantly surprised to find such a high quality operation in renton! we plan to eat here again.

chef chris. 'm not sure what all the hype is about. we arrived at 630 and put our name in for a table for 4. we left to go have a drink at a neighboring bar. about an hour later they called to tell us our table was ready. we got back within 5 minutes of their call and then continued to wait for 15 minutes more. our waiter did not smile and was not engaging we had to ask for bread twice as we watched the waitress helping the table across from us with enthusiasm. we had to ask about the specials which should have been done right away when we were seated. i ordered the filet which was decent and that's why i gave 2 stars however the steaks are seasoned or coated with something strange that detracts from the taste of the meet. my husbands ny ordered medium came medium well and was very thin and our friend who ordered the roast chicken was not edible. the parmesan potatoes were hard, dry and bland and the veggies over
roasted. after over an hour wait, paying 40.00 per person and marginal food we won't be back.......bummer we were so looking forward to a great new place to go.
