mekong cafe

so sad. i have ordered delivery to my office from mekong four times now. the first time the food was an hour and a half late, but when it did get here it was incredible! we were compensated a free meal for our inconvenience. the second and third times were great. the food was authentic, plenty, and delicious. i started a food log for us here so we could record how much we enjoyed what we ordered! it was true love.
this last time, and i mean the last time, we called an hour and ten minutes after we ordered and the food had not yet been cooked! a half an hour later our food arrived. fresh rolls burned, noodles dry, meat dry and over cooked, and on top of all of that, no compensation was offered. i am incredibly disappointed. i had finally found a place that delivers to my workplace with food that i love, and this had to happen. we drop at least $50 each order, and we order out at least once a week. my office is done with mekong cafe for good.

plus and minuses. we have tried this place three times and the food is outstanding. but, delivery time is awful. we live a short 2 1/2 blocks away and delivery time was an hour and a half. one time we called in our order and picked it up ourselves...again with a minimum of an hour wait. if it weren't for the wonderful food, we wouldn't bother. if you have the time...the food is fantastic.

pretty yummy but i always get the same thing--fresh spring rolls and shrimp pud thai, 3 star spicy and i'm never disappointed. i've gone with friends and they like it too.

from two different people i heard really good reviews of this place. maybe this one of those restaurants that you shouldn't get carry-out from, but when my food was delivered (which took an hour for three blocks...it's raining and cold) my food was cold. i ordered the mee hang. this is supposed to be a peanut dish and it tastes like the only ingredient is a lot of lemon. i also asked for it to be spicy. no spice to it. the shrimp fried rice was good, but that's not a difficult dish. i feel as though 40 bucks for two below-average, cold dishes is a lot.

love the menu selection. very good food.
1. love the extra large bowls of soup that can only be found here. very fun to share with friends
2. one of only places in the city where i can find tiger beer from singapore.
3. tried grandmas secret recipe sausage. any place that has either a little asian grandma cooking or her recipes are the best!

we had a great dinner at mekong cafe. the fresh spring rolls were delicious and the wonton soup was amazing. we ordered two different noodle dishes and they were just great. we were surprised to learn that sauces and many of the noodles are made from scratch. servers were so friendly and helpful. we will definitely be visiting again.

good food. i ordered delivery for my family, and though it took a while to get it, the food was hot and very good. crab rangoons were delicious, the kids' fried rice was great, and the bangkok noodles were pretty awesome, too. we will definitely be ordering from here again.

great restaurant. friendly service and nice selection of different dishes. definitely try their pud thai and fresh spring rolls!

clean & tasty lunch buffet. while i'm not a fan of buffets in general, mekong cafe's lunch buffet is an exception. although their buffet is small, they serve a nice variety of dishes - soups, noodles, curries, chicken, pork, beef, vegetarian, spicy, sweet, savory - along with the standard appetizers (fried spring/egg rolls, chicken wings and crab rangoon) that seem to be a requirement at most asian restaurants. fortunately, the entree dishes more than make up for the uninspired appetizer fare. the buffet is always impeccably clean and refreshed often.

my colleagues and i have ventured to this lunch buffet many times. granted, there isn't much service needed for a buffet, but both the service and food are always good at lunch. i must say that, unlike the previous reviewer, i've never smelled any kind of fumes from any adjoining businesses - just some jasmine rice, curry and other appetizing aromas you would expect in a thai restaurant. i recommend mekong cafe for lunch and will continue to dine there.

went with a group of 5 people. we were the only table in the place and the service was awful! we were there almost 2 hours and never got drink or water refills. we asked the check to be split between 2 credit cards and they couldn't figure out how to split an odd amount, so they overcharged both credit cards! also, the restaurant is next door to a nail salon and the whole restaurant stinks of the acrylic nail chemicals.

don't miss this gem!. i always feel like i'm a guest in their home...grandma's been cooking all day and my hosts are proud to serve the food! the care and precision taken with each dish is very evident...even the lunch buffet is second to none.

love the food. hate the fact that delivery takes over an hour even though i live 20 blocks away.

the mekong café promises authentic laos, thai and vietnamese cuisine. and on that promise, it delivers. named for the river in asia which runs through or borders nearly every country in, well, asia, the mekong café is a bit difficult to pin down.

best lunch buffet. really nice service, this restaurant is a hidden jem in tosa. the food is really good, but watch out - it can get really spicey. i really recommend the lunch buffet, its a good price and has a really great variety of food. sooooo gooooood

great for groups and kids!!!!!!. i was at this restaurant with my wife, three kids, and another family of seven. we were treated very well, and the food was great. the price was moderate, but the quality of the atmosphere and food made it worth the cost.
