lunch here this week. neat looking little place that i suspect was a house at some point. has an outside seating area as well as inside.menuaopears to be "beatles " themed as much of the place is decorated in such. the panthene was good and had a good amount of cheese. pecans on the inside was a nice little touch as well. had water to drink and total bill was around $10.00. service was good and appear to be clean overall. relaxing no rush kind of place.

a delightful place to enjoy a great meal. mean mr. mustard's cafe is a welcomed epicurean oasis located on 4th avenue off main street in downtown hendersonville, nc, owned and operated by experienced restauranteurs monte and diane rosemond, who are ably assisted by their friendly, competent staff (several of whom have been with them since they opened).

my friends and i have been enjoying their thoughtfulmenuofferings and wonderful service for more than 4 years, and we always look forward to the insouciant ambiance of the beatles-themed atmosphere filled with fab four music, memorabilia, and fantastic food.

after having such a consistently positive dining experience during my dozens of visits there, i was frankly shocked to read "rick's" negative review of dec 13th, and after a bit of digging, discovered that the author of the piece had been ejected from the restaurant and banned for life after making a huge scene during which patrons and staff were visibly upset by his rude, distasteful behavior. it is a sad truism that people like "rick" try to excuse their anti-social behavior by attempting to bad-mouth those whom they have offended.

my friends and i—professionals and business owners all—can whole-heartedly recommend mean mr. mustard's cafe as a consistently pleasant and rewarding dining adventure, and i personally hope that readers of this review will make plans to sample for themselves the rosemond's bright ingenuity and panache at mean mr. mustard's cafe in the vey near future. bon appetit!

?? dec. 13 review - not my experience. not sure why this reviewer gave such a negative review. i haven't found the comments to be true. i eat here at least once per week and find the food and service to be outstanding. mmm'smenuhas changed little, but they have specials most days. i believe it is currently the best restaurant in hendersonville.

getting worse every day. this used to be the place. but the breakfast, oh no, not here. sausage is dry over cooked and tasteless triangles. the beacon is like trying to eat dried out gum, cooked two days before. can they spare the ham, dried out and if you are lucky, you get two small triangle peaces. the potatoes are usually cold and hot and sometimes tasteless. the pancakes vary in size from 6 inches to 12 inches, depending on the day, and sometimes they are wet inside, or they over cooked. sometimes you get a second cup of coffee and sometimes not. the yellow submarine is the only thing, on themenuthat is consistent, but that is hard to screw up, even for amateur cooks and the cook looks like he never had a bath and should never come out of the kitchen. themenunever changes. then why go there? it can sometimes be good, but not often. the owner is sacred of her own shadow and afraid of of change. if it were not for one young lady, who is a pepper pot with a hug for everyone she knows, the place would be off limits. not the usually breakfast place, but somehow they stay busy, but of late, some of the regulars are disappearing. it has become a place to avoid or think about avoiding, but it really could be good, if some real changes were made in the kitchen and the menu... oh by the way, the lunches are great, but forget a good old fashion breakfast. whoever thought some of this stuff up, is not living in the real world. oh, just try and order whole wheat toast and they look at you as if it does not exist. it can be a good place to go, but it gets old in a hurry with the same old thing day after day. oh, and yes, you can sit out side for 20 minutes when they put one person at table for 4 and you just sit and wait until that person finishes his book or the daily paper. hey, give it a try, you may enjoy this type of service and food. for me, i have just about had it, unless some changes for the better are made for the better, but this is only one mans opinion. i am hoping for change, since hendersonville needs a good place for breakfast.
