mcnamara's irish pub & restaurant

excellent atmosphere. this place had an adorable atmosphere and it really had the hole-in-the-wall feel to the place. we decided to go to this place because it had a 94% positive reviews. the food was pretty good but my only complaint would be the service. i'm not going to say that the service was terrible, because really you can't base it off of one person. however, my waiter wasn't on his a game that night. i would recommend this place just for the experience.

what a wonderful night!. my husband and i combined our 33rd wedding anniversary celebration along with our daughter's birthday last night at mcnamara's. it has become our favorite "special" place to go. there were 16 of us and we all had a wonderful time. the food was delicious, the entertainment provided by nosey flynn was outstanding and our server, jessica, took exceptional care of all of us. this was the first time some of our friends had been to mcnamara's and they, too, were impressed with everything offered and also had a wonderful time. most of us stayed until the last song offered. another wonderful surprise for us was that a nosey flynn cd was available for purchase which was great as i had been wondering if they had ever made a cd. needless to say, my daughter, one of her friends and i each purchased the cd and can't wait to start enjoying their music in our homes any time we want! sean, bill and josh even autographed our cd's!! the shephards pie was delicious as were the stuffed pork tenderloins.... so tender they would melt in your mouth. and the irish nachos are something you should also experience --- a really greater starter to our meals. it was a wonderful night and would highly recommend (and have) that everyone come to this wonderful establishment. we will continue to come back and bring our friends with us!! thanks sean, bill, josh and jessica for a truly wonderful night! and thanks for playing the "wreck of the edmonds fitzgerald" for us.... you were great!! your are #1 with us!!

birthday celebration. my husband, daughter and her boyfriend took me to mcnamara's for my birthday last night. it was the first time my husband and i had been there. our daughter and her boyfriend have been here before and wanted us to experience the restaurant and music ourselves.it was fantastic!! the food was delicious and the live irish music was wonderful. i have been to concerts that i didn't enjoy nearly as much as i did the music of sean mcnamara and the gentleman accompanying him. i could have stayed there until the restaurant closed just to listen to them!! one of the lady servers even did some irish dancing. she was very good. sean sang "happy birthday" to me and one other person celebrating his birthday as well. oh, and the bailey cheesecake is to die for.... the best i have ever eaten --- including the cheesecake factory. you have to try it!! so if you want great food and a night of wonderful irish music, i highly recommend you try mcnamara's. you won't be disappointed. i surely wasn't and we will most definitely go back there again. it's a family friendly restaurant for all ages including children. i told my daughter that this is now my "new favorite place". it was one of my best birthday's ever! i have never been to ireland but i felt like i was there last night.

excellent food and service. we come to nashville once a year and always eat here.it's always great.

love this place. great atmosphere, great service, great food.....great entertainment with nosey flynn! i just wish i lived closer to experience this pub more often! absolutely love the steak & biscuits...and of course the fish and chips. can't wait to visit there again!

only one thing wrong . . .. let me start by saying that overall, we love this place. all of the dishes we've tried have been tasty and a good value. the music is excellent - it's the real reason we go! it's such a good time if you can get a seat in the music room when nosy flynn is on stage! this is our "go to" place for out of town visitors. the only fault i can find is the service. we have been several times, and the service has always been terrible. we often have to flag down passing servers to ask who our server is after being seated at our table for several minutes. other times, the server shows up, takes our order, and then disappears, once for almost half an hour - no drinks, no food, just gone! perhaps this irritates me more than most people, since i spent several years as a server and cannot imagine treating customers this way? i just find it odd that owners and managers who have obviously spent a great deal of time, effort, and care to create such a great "pub" experience allow the wait staff to be so terrible. my advice - eat a snack before you go, or sit at the bar (the bartenders are top notch).

don't see it.. i went here after reading great reviews and talking with friends. it's the old plantation restaurant so i thought maybe it had been spruced up. wrong. it's still got a lot of tacky outdated furniture which is maybe a staple of irish pubs, but knowing it's left over from the previous tenant made me think they just had old furniture.
the service was good, but the food was mediocre at best. i had salmon and my wife had baked chicken. maybe the traditional irish food would have been better. don't know but somehow i doubt it. the salmon had been in the freezer way too long and the chicken was overcooked. our friend had a pork chop which looked a little better, but not so sure. we did have cooked cabbage which was kind of irish, and it was pretty much just boiled cabbage, not much flavor.
in short, we were disappointed and probably won't be going back.

enjoyed delicious shephard's pie, the service, the live entertainment and the price. if we were local we would be regulars!

wonderful taste of ireland. my fiance and i went to mcnamara's for our anniversary because it had high ratings on this site. well deserved!! the food, the atmosphere, the decor was fabulous! every corner is decorated with pictures and nostalgic irish items. will go again! i had the shepherd's pie and my fiance had the belfast steak dinner. we both completely cleaned our plates. we also ordered aunt hannah's chocolate cake and it too was a dream. it was a little on the pricey side but well worth the bill. will visit again!

amazing food, great music, and the best guinness in nashville

love the environment, energy......but. let me just begin by saying this is not going to be a "bad" review. the overall energy in this place is awesome!!! we knew within moments that we were going to enjoy ourselves. the music was lively, the people were all friendly. we were happy!! the appetizer we had, the fried mushrooms, was taaaaaaaasty!! however, the dishes after that were not that great. we chose the burger & spicy black bean burger. i mean maybe this was the problem!??! we should have tried something more unique and authentic. who goes to an irish pub & eats burgers?!?! they were both about a 4 out of 10. however, the shepherds pie was absolutely delicious and you can't go wrong with a nice dark beer. overall, we have to agree this is a spot you need and want to visit :-)

great family & event dining. we love mcnamara's for our own family dining, our two year old loves the music. we love bringing friends and family here for the great atmosphere. always a dinner hit.

call way ahead if you want a table in the music room on friday or saturday, sundays & thursdays you don't have to plan that far in advance.

i love this pub. feels otherworldly with a great jovial and fun atmosphere!!

huge lunch. several of us go to mcnamara's for lunch periodically. the food is good and the portions are overwhelming. a little pricey for lunch, but a good value if you consider the amount of food you get. you could easily share between 2 people and be satisfied. the wait staff have been very pleasant on each trip. would love to catch the live music sometime.

wow!!. i called in advance for a party of 18 and requested the bar area for friday night at 6:00. everyone enjoyed their food and drink! some guests could not believe the amount of people at the restaurant. it was packed! even though it was our service was terrific and like i said the food was a 10 !!
i hope i don't spell the name wrong but want the powers at be to know caleb took care of us. one of our guests was a retired long time restaurant/club owner and he was very impressed.
