i like may dragon, but can't help but wonder if the trend toward healthier eating and the proliferation of other asian cuisines and outlets hasn't really hurt thechineserestaurants. much of the food is very heavy, loaded with sauce and of course there's all that rice. but this is what makes it good for an occasional treat.
the hot and sour soup is good but be prepared for it to be pretty spicy. my favorite entree is the shrimp with walnut which comes with plenty of crunchy green pepper chunks. the sauce is flavorful and a like the crunchy textures of the nuts and peppers with the fried shrimp.
hubby ordered basic chicken fried rice and it was very tasty and large portioned.
on our recent visit, it happened to bechinesenew year so we were treated to an impromptu dragon dance that came through the restaurant. we were warned before it happened and were told by a young boy, who helped wear the costume, that money contributions were encouraged and would bring you good luck. it was fun at first, but lasted entirely too long and too many repeat passes at the same tables over and over again, as more envelopes were brought with the implication that more contributions were due. it was a turn off that should've just been a fun extra. i hope we never catch it again on that holiday.
