don't bother better spots in the area. his place looked promising, but i was mistaken.

our server, dena, was the only highlight of this visit. she's terrific.

first, it lists themselves on happy cow as being veg friendly, which was a plus. but upon arriving, we learned differently, and yes we will be notifying happy cow regarding their listing.

total bill 32.19 for lunch for two! a bad lunch to boot.
here's the breakdown.
sparkling water $2. - perfect
one buckwheat pancake $5.00 - asked for no powdered sugar, got it anyway. this was by far the worst buckwheat pancake, hard, crunchy with only the part with blueberries moist and edible.
blueberries - $2.50
blt 0 $8.50 0- but wait~! i asked for no bacon! a side of bacon is $3.00 - so they could resell that bacon, but #1, someone put bacon on it and took it off - for those of you who are veg you know when you can get a whiff of hardwood smoke bacon that's been on the bread. so i asked for avocado instead of bacon.
side of avacado $2.15 added to my bill - unripe avacado, like 2 little slices.
rueben - $10.00 - asked for no cheese, got cheese anyway.
these people #1 can not follow directions when you order.
#2 i asked about the upcharge for the raw unripe avacado, since i did not get bacon, the owner of the place was rude and foolish in her response of "you should have read the front of the menu". really, i just paid $10.65 for a horrible sandwich and this is your rude response?

you know, a place that hasgreatcustomer service and mediocre food can pass, but this place had horrible food, and a rude owner who did not see the value in return customers, nor one who writes for several online blogs and reviews for newspapers, can't wait to write up this one folks. save your money, there are far better places to eat in the area, lots of better places.

check out mary's specials!. winston-salem just wouldn't be the same without marys. she uses the best fresh, local and organic ingredients humanly possible, and you can absolutely taste it in all of her dishes. the menu is a fantastic mix of brunch staples, but don't forget to try the specials, because they are inevitably creative, tasty and inspired by cuisine from all over the world. some reviewers complain about the prices and service, to which i would respond that a) the prices reflect the quality of the ingredients. if you want a cheap breakfast sandwich, go to mcds.; and b) i've hadgreatservice on every trip here - and there have been many. don't miss mary's; there's a reason this restaurant is ranked in the top 5 brunch spots in nc!

way underwhelmed.. i heard nothing butgreatthings about breakfast of course, and i have never been more disappointed. i went in expecting an amazing breakfast, but it was terrible. the service was awful and the food was even more awful. i haven't been back since. i wanted it to be a hangout spot, but it failed me. they have agreatvariety of food, but it's over priced and not prepared well.

omelets & french toast.... breakfast of course is agreatplace if you're looking to build-your-own omelet with fresh and unique ingredients or have the best french toast in winston-salem. if you're looking for your standard breakfast chain-restaurant, you're going think boc is overpriced and not worth the wait!

i prefer quality when it comes to my food and my boc meets that standard. you definitely get what you pay for a boc. although, my only complaint is that there is not veggie omelet on the menu (or your standard omelet combinations listed for a reasonable price). the build-your-own omelet is perfect for people that want this or that, but you will pay a lot for an omelet if you want it loaded with veggies.

i've never experienced any problems with the employees or customer service as stated in previous posts. since the food is prepared fresh and made to order, it's understood that it could take awhile before your food it served, which is completely acceptable to me!

best brunch in town. i get to breakfast of course (boc) as often as possible. owner mary aways hasgreatspecials and the regular lineup isgreattoo. my go to item is the breakfast club: a blt with avocado and a friend egg. it comes with a side of grits (i make mine pimento cheese grits) and you've got yourself the best breakfast for miles!

i like it, but i miss mary's.. i'll start with the food - it's awesome.

i usually go with a build-your-own-omelet. the jalapeño pimiento cheese is to die for, and worth the extra charge, but be wary - a lot of things you'd take for granted in another establishment do come with an added price. they'll nickel and dime you well out of the "under $10" range.

the service is not sogreatbut, to be honest, it kind of adds to the charm of the place. i don't think i'd know what to do with professional, skilled waitstaff.

the new place is nice, but i miss the feel of the old place, mary's of course, which seemed to match with the staff. breakfast of course is larger, with high ceilings and a 'cleaner' feel to it. can't do anything about it, though - i doubt they'll move back just to please me.
