mark's bistro

i was in omaha area for work and found mark's bistro on zomato. we had no reservations, but were seated right away for the dinner service. attentive and knowledgeableservicestaff. we had a variety of menu items.
the risotto with spring vegetables, spinach salad, spring lamb and the charcuterie sampling were all very good. we did not indulge in the deserts or drinks, maybe next time. it was good enough we returned the following evening. this is one of the better restaurants i have found in omaha.

the food is amazing!serviceis friendly and proficient. but most important, the ambiance of this place puts it in a class of its own. whether your sitting inside or outside you will experience the quint uniqueness that i have never felt locally before. i highly recommend going on a night where you can sit outside. take it from someone that has traveled extensively... pretend your overseas in italy or france, and enjoy!

have had lunch at mark's a few times in the past few months and been very pleased, each time! bothserviceand food has given exactly to expectations! great soups, salads, risottos, etc.

went to mark's bistro for a family dinner. the food was wonderful as usual, and i always love the cozy feel of the place.servicecould have been a bit more attentive and engaged, but all in all, a great visit!

lovely place. this is a lovely place. very cozy. located in an old house now converted to a restaurant. the food is fantastic. theserviceis good. the only two gripes we had was that we asked where the salmon was from...alaska? the waitress did not find out for us even though we asked twice. she said she could not find the chef!! a bit disappointed. also, we visited in december on a very cold day. unfortunately, we sat next to the window. it was a bit cold and drafty. too bad.

the new chef at mark's has definitely brought new life to mark's. i have not had a better meal in omaha in quite some time. we started with the bread spread trio which was out of this world! a perfect starter for us and have not had a better olive tapenade period. i has the scallops as an entree and they were cooked perfectly. it seems like no one in this town can get scallops right but these were melt in your mouth delicious! the quinoa on the side was a perfect compliment to the dish and to the health conscious eater. my friend did the pork tacos and could not stop talking about them.servicewas impeccable, atmosphere amazing and chef james visited our table to see how our meal was. mark's will always be at the top of our list when out for an amazing evening!

6/1/13 everything to like except the street repair. hot spinach salad followed by wonderful homemade mac and cheese as appetizer followed by fresh mussels over angel pasta. marks offers their own homemade chocolate hazelnut ice cream for desert and a wonderful selection of wine.servicewas superb but wish they accepted reservations. one of the best hidden treasures in omaha. stews

qualtiy wasn't the same.... no consistency and we had the same meals! only vegetable in my pad thai was julienned carrots...nothing like captain napkins picture! there was only 3 pieces of tofu! i had this dish before and it was awesome....but disappointing tonight. we also had the beet salad and lasagna again but they were bland and it wasn't like that before. the only things we liked were the hummus, our eclectic server, and the ambience. thank goodness for the wine also!

impressed!. excellent gluten free options and even crackers so i don't feel left out! we had hummus, beet salad, smoked chicken lasagna, pad thai, chocolate mousse, and flourless chocolate torte with pistachio butter. everything was wonderful. we also had a great bottle fo wine-loved the selection. customerservicewas great and loved the atmosphere.

lovely people, decent food. ive been here several times. i love the wine list and the decor. theservicehas always been pretty good, this last time the gentleman was just lovey! he even made up a new cocktail for me when they didn't have cucumber vodka for a bloodymary... i was not impressed by the sundried tomato appetizer... the flavor is overpowering and its served with the bread that you get complimentary w butter....whats the point, and too much bread- won't do that again! the potatoes and brussel sprouts are good but not to die for. i've had better (dante still wins in this category), though their spinach with pine nuts is delicious. the view can't be beat in dundee! i'd frequent this place for wine,a view and the occasional bite to eat.

ok. the mac n cheese and beautiful atmosphere were great. theservicewas so poor that we will not be returning. hours for food. its too bad.

some good, some bad...on the fence.. i liked the concept and what i heard about it so we came for lunch. the atmosphere was very nice - i liked that they had an entire wall of windows. the patio was very nice and quaint (but it was too chilly to sit outside). i can see where the other reviewers were coming from on the longservicetime. we arrived for lunch at 11:50 and were seated immediately (so i was optimistic!). lunch was definately in full swing; but from seat to check it was a two hour lunch & that is a bit excessive & wouldn't normally work for us. at first the waitress was attentive but asservicewent on it felt as if everything really slowed down; or took a really long time.

the menu was very interesting i had a hard time trying decide on what i wanted (for me a good sign)- most other patrons around me seemed to settle on a salad or the mac n cheese. my husband got the mac and cheese with embellishments (it happened to be meatloaf) and i got a pork schnitzel and spaetzle. his was delish; mine not so much. the spaetzle was a huge let down -- the pork was flavorless aside from a greasy fried flavor? the french onion soup and our appetizer - three spreads with our bread was good. more then enough and i was satisfied enough not to get cranky about the dissapointing main dish. we ordered the pumpkin and butterscotch cheesecake - i was happy we decided to give dessert a try - the cheesecake was well worth it.

i am really on the fence on whether or not i like this place or not. but i enjoyed it enough to give it another try. i am going to go back before making a final vote ;)

don't waste your money or your time!. theservicewas atrocious...so slow and inattentive. the food was mediocre. i was so disappointed...i had expected so much going in there based on the menu, but will never return based on that one experience. go to dario's brasserie which is just down the street instead!
