when one of the owners takes time to warmly welcome each guest to this small but cosy restaurant, you know you're in for a good stay.
but first.... *** theplaceis very small and extremely noisy. so noisy that you'll be challenged to hear yourself think, so if you're after a first date venue or somewhere to have good conversation, maybe steer clear or sit outside under the heaters where it's a lot more quiet ****
our dinner got off to a great start with a tiramisu espressotini and a passionfruit spritz mocktail. we followed that up with share plates of gluten free pasta (made from chickpea) with a sauce made from pork + fennel sausage which was simply deluxe! and a salad accompaniment "from nonna's backyard"... a really generous serve of rocket, asparagus, parmesan, fennel and lemon vinaigrette for just $12.
our shared dessert of gluten-free tiramisu ($18) was one of the best we've ever tried. olive oil chocolate sponge was layered with lightly-drunken marscapone cream and a disc of chocolate halfway down the glass which gave a surprise crunch and added flavour.
m&v's isn't cheap but the service is friendly and the food is a+++ so in my book, it's worth a treat visit every now and then.
(coeliacs note: while the polenta chips appear on the menu as gluten free, they're actually fried in shared oil... which was such a disappointment to my coeliac partner)
