marco's restaurant & lounge

terrible service, cold food, and a manager who could care less. i hadn't been to this restaurant in a little over a year but when i had family in for thanksgiving, i decided this place would be perfect and close to home. we got there and no one even greeted us for at least 5 min. we got a table and had to wait about 10 min. for someone to come to take our drink order. the staff was standing around talking and laughing very loudly and this went on through most of dinner. we finally got our drinks but only after our waiter had a long conversation with the others that were standing around. when we got our food, it was mediocre at best. it was not hot (we allorderedsteak) and the sides looked old. they were not busy so it is a good possibility that they were. our waiter did not come back until we had finished our food...so we sat without drinks even after stopping someone who said he was the manager or owner (can't remember which) and we still never got refills. i was embarrassed to have brought my family to this establishment and we will not come back. we did complain but we felt like they didn't care. we spoke to the same man who was the manager/owner?? and he seemed like we were distracting him from talking and laughing with the staff and really didn't seem to care that we were disappointed. i would not recommend this place.

the specials are so good that i have neverorderedoff the regular menu. the also have a night that is spifical designed around cost affective great tasting steaks.

terrible new ownership, service, and food. i went to marco's for the first time since the new ownership last night. the waitstaff was terrible and walked by my table several times to attend to a larger party. that party was very loud and obnoxious and disturbing a few of the other tables around my party also. finally, someone came to the table and took a drink order but returned about 5 min. later and had forgotten what weorderedto drink. when they brought the drinks, we were ready to order but they turned to another table to help them first. they came back about 5 min. later and took or order. we didn't get bread for about 10 min. after that and the food arrived about 30 min. later. in between, no one refilled our drinks or even came to our table. the food was just ok and of course, part of it was wrong. i asked for the manager and was told that the owner was there but was at the large table that was being disruptive. it was a terrible experience all around and i will never go back. i have friends who had warned me about going back since the changes but i tried it for myself and would have to agree. don't waste your money!

i failed to see the rave reviews.... i was visiting my cousins with my boyfriend in the city. they had wanted steak for dinner, so i used the below reviews and suggested marco's. what a disappointment.

the inside smelled like an old, musty bowling alley, so we opted for dining al fresco.

we also were seated by the dour, nasty hostess. what an asset she is! our waitress was very friendly and gave great service.

everyone expect meorderedsteaks. no one was pleased with them, but only my cousin asked that his be taken back because there were so many tendons throughout the entire steak that he struggled to just cut into it with the knife. my boyfriend's steak wasorderedmedium, but was served medium rare and wasn't tender, either.

the "greek" salad two of usorderedwas dressing in italian, not greek salad dressing, which our server failed to announce, which wasn't horrible, but she should warn people when "greek" salads are ordered.

the check, considering the quality and the atmosphere, was very overpriced. i cannot fathom the rave reviews of this place when so many areas were poor or lacking. will never return.

my birthday dinner - great time!. some good friends of mine wanted to celebrate my birthday by going out to eat at an indy restaurant. the place was my choice. i didn't hesitate: marco's!

i've eaten at marco's more than any other restaurant except, perhaps, bazbeaux pizza downtown.

the food was delicious...everyone enjoyed their meals except one person whoordereda fish special.

i especially enjoy marco's steaks, cooked to perfection. most of the main dishes come with soup, salad, bread, and the main dish. (so be careful and don't overdo it on the bread.)

our server was very personable and provided excellent service despite having to make several drink runs. fortunately i've never been served by the nasty hostess that several reviewers on various websites mention. =)

it's true that the best night for a bargain is tuesday night, cheap meat night. but for any other night i don't mind paying a little more for quality food, great service, and a good time.

i should add that i always ask for the lounge. one time we had to eat in the dining room and it wasn't nearly as much fun.

special!. it's all about the tuesday night $9.99 filet special! i've gone other nights andorderedother things, but if it weren't for the special this place would tank. overpriced mediocre food isn't the way to go. it was good at best. i'd go back 1000 tuesdays though if the hostess wasn't so vile to some friends of mine. keep your judgement to yourself, they came in to spend a couple hundred dollars, but left after one drink due to her sniping. she's lost them plenty of business, but i don't think she cares. i'd complain to the owner, but i think it's her. oh well, her loss.
