mangala restaurant & bar

mangala isn't entirely bad a restaurant but they're selective preference to serve those in positions of some influence better is fairly evident. college students will be ignored for the most part.
they're unorganized, under staffed on a sunday and unapologetic about it. they will hold waiters accountable for its managements mistakes. arguing about its painfully slowserviceor demanding for a discount will come at the cost of your waiter's salary and will not effect the restaurant. save yourself the trouble.

its an awesome place good ambience... but theserviceis not up to the mark. the special is the 'phat freddie burger' its worth the cost and filling too. the burger is much better than mcdonald's

i always wanted to give this place a try and finally did it last month. the place was quite full even though it wasn't a weekend. the ambience must say 5/5 is too good. the interiors and the wall arts were amazing and looked like they were inspired from an american cafe or bar. theservicewas also too good.

1)wrong island ice tea : yes guys! don't take me wrong. it is wrong island ice tea. i do not know if you guys know about it but for me it was something new because i always heard it as long!😅. and yes there wasn't a long glass but it was more like a wine glass. its a must must try cocktail here. 5/5

2)phat freddie chicken burger: well i was aware that this place is much famous for burgers. they have variety of mouthwatering burgers. my bothers whenever they visit mangaluru they crave for this burger. they also serve beef as well as pork burgers also. i tried chicken burger and it was my life's best burger. 5/5

3)fried onions: this is a pretty running snack here. they really serve it the best possible 5/5.

4)fried chicken : like any other fried chicken. could have been better 3/5.

would love to visit here again and try many more dishes. yes! now its me who's craving for the burger😅

good ambiance. slightly dingy but good music and decor. nonveg foodies will love the place. burgers are a must try. pork items are great. the quantity is decent so watch how much to order. do try the phar freddy. it's heavy.serviceis sometimes fast sometimes slow. but staff has a decent idea of the food items. good for a small group outing. usually don t require prior table reservation.

if you are pork lover like me, then this is the place for you to visit. succulent pork dishes that are so good to blow your mind away. i have visited this place multiple times and my favorites definefitly is the classic pork bafat and the pork roast. the combination of soft fresh appams and pork bafat is a match made in heaven. apart from this their other pork dishes like roast, ginger pork, the pork salad etc are also excellent. though theserviceis a little slow, the the taste of the food is worth the wait😍.

quite a spacious and cozy place to visit with family and friends. seating are very close to each other hence no privacy. ambience is good and decent. reasonable place but the quality is very less sufficient for two max. we tried pork, chicken chilly, gobi manchurian, paneer burji, boiled veggies, french fries. all had very less quantity. it was 2 while we reached place was quite crowded andservicewas slow. beer is available in pitcher and jar. food was tasty 4/5,service4/4, ambience 5/4

this is average place , which is running from very long time . the food quality is not that great andserviceis really very slow and it is sort for expensive . i wouldn’t recommend this .

this was an amazing joint we visited on our trip to mangalore. it is a must visit, especially for meat lovers. i'm an eggetarian and so ordered for their special egg masala and ghee rice. they were both wow! simply delectable and yumm. easily the best egg masala i've had. i was so sold on the place, we went there on two consecutive evenings for our dinner. :-)servicewas also above par.

it's 1st time for me ...becan wrapped sausage ....mutton biriyani ...chiken cheesy freddie just amazing taste.....very fastservice....nice ambience too...want to visit again 😋😋😋😋....

this place has by far the worstserviceamong the restaurants in mangalore. the waiter was rude and careless. didn't get the actual ordered food and the he was unapologetic. moreover the wrong order took ages to reach our table. the taste wasn't great either.

the place is quite peaceful and theserviceis amazing... love the food.. especially the kheema, the pork kheema to be specific is the best ...

all the dishes ordered were good and well presented.

mangala is one of the few restaurants in mangalore that has maintained standards over the years.

mangala has always been close to our hearts as we have many memories linked with this place... be it hanging out with our friends over the weekend right from college days, celebrating birthdays, dinner with family or going out on our first date together...

over the years, even though the prices have increased and the quantity reduced, what remained constant is the quality of food and the hospitality received at mangala. all the waiters who have been with the restaurant, for a long time, are very friendly. the ambience is good and theserviceis decent even if the restaurant is packed with customers.

now coming to the food... mangala is well known for its mangalorean delicacies and of course the great freddy burger.

there are a couple of new entries on their menu which we would like to recommend... (with a mug of beer!)

1. loaded fries - french fries loaded with minced pork (also available with minced chicken) and cheese... the perfect carby comfort food... :)

2. chicken sausage salad - fried chicken sausage tossed with onions and tomatoes. this is served with a generous amount of mayo as topping.

3. spicy kheema with cheese - you can always order the dish with chicken kheema. but we prefer pork kheema which is a lot more tasty! spicy kheema with cheese can be eaten plain. we prefer eating it with chicken sausage fried rice - it's a mind blowing combination!


4. loaded nachos - crispy nachos topped with mince and cheese.

mangala restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants in town that has still retained its charm, flavour and thereby, customers. it has been serving great food since 1981 if i'm not mistaken.

i visited this place on a sunday with family. we went around 9 pm and the place was not too crowded. theserviceis excellent. the staff is courteous and knowledgeable about the food. we tried their coorg style pork as a starter. (weekend special)this was a well cooked dish. the pork was soft and the masala was delicious -perfectly seasoned, not too peppery or garlicky. for main course we tried their chicken in green masala with chapatis. while the curry was lovely, the chicken itself was a little on the bland side. it seemed like they cook the chicken and curry separately. this would have been fine if only they had added some spice to the chicken when cooking. we also tried the phat freddie (chicken) and this was the highlight for me. juicy chicken patty with melted cheese, freshly made mayo, caramelised onions, pickled jalapeños and crispy bacon. it is a loaded burger and i made a complete mess when eating it (this is the sign of a good burger in my opinion). it is absolutely worth all the hype and totally made up for the bland chicken in the curry.
