i know this is a staple oftoledoand i love they are family owned, but longhorn has steaks at the same taste level for a lot cheaper. still a nice restaurant, but overpriced for what it is.

the 6 ft. tall wooden clown in the entryway and the toledo-salvaged antiques are a link to its past when gus mancy opened the ideal restaurant in 1921. the steaks are flavorful and fairly priced as you would expect, but bread baked from scratch, large succulent scallops and a phenominal chocolate cake are pleasant surprises. it's the steak place to go to intoledoand it lives up to its reputation...and then some.

toledo staple living on reputation?. first of all, i've always enjoyed the food at mancy's steakhouse, it truly is one of the finer meals in thetoledoarea and worth the expense. i also enjoy the steakhouse feel (low lighting, stain glass windows, ect). however, i think this prime tradition has a little work to do. first off, the service quality simply is not what i would expect for those prices....it can be hit or miss.unfortunately, for a restaurant like this, there should never be a miss. also, the dinning room isn't particularly clean, some of the lighting is very dusty with cobwebs in corners. finally, i would like to see the menu refreshed a bit or at least some better specials offered. i feel mancy's has lived on it's reputation for awhile and needs to freshen things up a bit. that being said, there are long wait times on weekends to grab a table, which is a testament considering the neighborhood that surrounds mancy's (you just wouldn't go there for anything but mancy's).

back intoledoagain , and i decided to go for a steak. so one of the best steakhouses here is mancy's steakhouse . the group has 3 succesful restaurants, their stakehouse has been operating since 1921, and considered one of the top 40 in the us . their promise is simple, family tradition, best quality meats, and cook to perfection. mancy's i looked the menu and inmediately i knew what to ask, the big ribeye on the bone, or as i prefer to call it "the monster of lake erie", 30oz thick handcut ribeye, aged for 28 days and leave the bone for more flavour and terdeness. satellite view of "the monster" i guess i don't need to tell you how big is the ribeye, but is as good as big, the steak was cooked to perfection, juicy, smokey, and with an amazing flavour. highly recommended. 30oz full of flavour steaks remind me the seinfeld episode " the cadillac part 2 " where jerry's parents wants to go have dinner early to get a discount. morty: alright, are you ready to eat? helen: oh, right, let's
