mama carolla's old italian

yummy food, irritated server. arrived at the restaurant and was sat immediately. my daughter had never been and commented at how beautiful the restaurant was. she asked about the history and i said perhaps we could ask our server.
our female server (a) greeting us after we sat there for 5 min. she mechanically recited the specials with no personality or warmth in her voice. as she asked if we wanted to order an appetizer she looked at her watch on her wrist. i asked what time they closed and she said 10. i asked what time it was and she replied, it's 10 right now. she seemed as if she was a bit put off because we arrived as they were closing. however, if they were unable to serve, the hostess should have informed us upon entering the restaurant. i have worked in the service industry for many years in the past and understand if this server was most likely ready to go home, however, she did take our our table, begrudgingly. so, i thank her for doing her job but it would have been a much more pleasant experience if she hadn't acted so irritated that she had to take a table right at 10. i left her 20% tip but felt like she didn't really deserve it after the attitude. had it been a pleasant experience after a very long work day without any food, i would have left her 40% just for good service and a sincere smile. perhaps she should think twice next time if she chooses to have an attitude because she had to take a table right at closing time.

people amaze me. i love reading the stuff that people put up about great restaurants. it's always apparent to me when people have eaten too much fazoli's or olive garden. if you don't like flavor and you want yourfoodto be bland then go to those places. mama carolla's in an indianapolis favorite for a reason. i've never had a bad meal there and neither have any of the people i've taken there. if you've had a bad experience then it's obvious that you shouldn't be there anyway.

great place they serve really good italian food, i have gone there with my husband and we both really liked thefoodreally delicious italianfoodand i have tried the pasta here it's really good and they have good options in the drinks they serve good cocktails and beers. the staff is really nice and friendly they serve freshfoodand really good customer service. 5 stars!!

outstanding!. great experience from start to finish.foodwas delicious. staff was helpful and accommodating. greeted at the door by the owner. he's a great guy who loves to share a quick story about the restaurant. seated much more quickly than we were first told. shrimp cocktail was a fantastic starter. firm and very fresh. house dressing is a must try on the salad. chicken parm one of the best i've had. all served hot and very fresh. our waiter meesh ( sp?) did a great job. when i'm back in town i'll return. great meal and experience.

an orgasm in my mouth (not that kind). this place is sooo good, it is the best italianfoodi've ever had. the prices can be intimidating if you are you looking for a cheap meal don't look here, but of you want awesome food, a good portion, great ambiance and an all around d wonderful experience then head over to mama catolla's because it's worth the price.

food is average, service was great. let me start with saying the service here was great. every employee was friendly and attentive to our party. thefoodon the other hand was average. only the person eating salmon said they enjoyed their meal. the quality of theirfoodreally does not reflect the prices they charge. the restaurant was also dirty and really outdated - sheets of acrylic on the tables to protect their tablecloths. i may visit it one more time in hopes i caught the kitchen on a bad night.

what a shame.... whatever merit might be given to thefoodis undermined by the lousy attitude of the staff. seriously, one of the most inappropriate waitresses i've ever encountered (curt, unprofessional, inattentive, almost hostile). this is a significant deterrent to the dining experience and prompts one to wonder for how long can mama carolla's rest on the laurels of goodfoodbefore poor staff attitude impacts business. i hadn't dined at mama carolla's in quite some time and i won't dine here again anytime soon.

great food!. mama carolla's is our standby for carryout on friday nights. thefoodis always good and we love the tiramisu dessert -- it is so good. the pasta dishes are outstanding - we are partial to the bolognese dish and their italian wedding soup is the best! great atmosphere - very quaint and the service has always been good. we have never been disappointed when dining here and it is fairly frequently we enjoy their authentic italian food!

loved everything about it!. thefoodhere is fantastic! the ambiance is also great. if you go when its warm out, they have a beautiful outdoor seating area. very busy on weekends, so show up early. definitely try the manicotti and the chicken alfredo! delish!

attitude adjustment. this is one of my favorite places but i honestly am tired of having to warn new people i bring there about the servers and host staff. the majority of them have an attitude and are so edgy. my server last evening, justin, boardered on rude. thefoodis great and maybe that is why they seem to get away with this type of service but the overall dining experience there is often not pleasant.

mostly good. first time dining at mama carolla's after friend recommendation. charming building and history; most of ourfoodwas very good. the angel hair pasta was actually cold, and we prefer freshly ground pepper in olive oil for the excellent bread. salads are small but fresh. i would definitely expect an authentic italian menu to include more types of pasta. hope to try it again.

best italian in indy. we've been here 10 times in the last year & are never disappointed. thefoodis great from the olive oil to the dessert. wine selection is good & the atmosphere is the best!!! if you haven't been, go!

i like mama carollas and have been there many times to dine in and for carry out. i like the atmosphere andfoodbut sometimes i'm
not thrilled with the staff.

serve policy not customers. bad taste tonight - all the way around. to begin, we were the first at the restaurant tonight. my wife and i wanted a 4-top table and couldn't get one. there were plenty but it was not their policy to seat two at a 4-top. three at a 4-top was fine, not 2. hostess was argumentative, defending policy. here, the customer is never right! common sense does not rule here. they put policy in front of serving the customer.

we decided to take the seating we were given because we had heard such good things about this restaurant. whenfoodarrived at our table, it was disappointment again. thefoodwas not even lukewarm. it was taken back and reheated. when it came back, it was still not hot. the texture of the lasagna was mushy and the flavor was nothing out of the ordinary (the waitress said this was a house specialty). sorry, it was nothing special. we could have gotten stouffer's lasagna at the market and had as good, if not better quality. you can be sure it would have at least been served hot! service was mediocre and sometimes invisible.

all in all, a terrible meal and overall experience. this place is way overrated. i think the regulars must have talked themselves into thinking otherwise!
