mama carolla's old italian

terrible. after hearing my friend go on and on about the food, the great service, etc., i agree to have dinner there. one word about my first experience; terrible.
if it wouldn't have been for the company i was with, i would have simply got up and left. not only were we crammed in the small room up the stairs, we were also tabled next to 8 drunken, foul mouthed women. the guys doing water and bread were great, but i dont think it should take nearly 90 minutes for the meal to come. i understand mama's has a lot of happy patrons, but this one will never go back.

divine. i could go on and on about the great atmosphere, service, bar, and food, but let me be concise and just say that mama carolla's is the best italian place in indy without a doubt.

yummy food, irritated server. arrived at the restaurant and was sat immediately. my daughter had never been and commented at how beautiful the restaurant was. she asked about the history and i said perhaps we could ask our server.
our female server (a) greeting us after we sat there for 5 min. she mechanically recited the specials with no personality or warmth in her voice. as she asked if we wanted to order an appetizer she looked at her watch on her wrist. i asked what time they closed and she said 10. i asked what time it was and she replied, it's 10 right now. she seemed as if she was a bit put off because we arrived as they were closing. however, if they were unable to serve, the hostess should have informed us upon entering the restaurant. i have worked in the service industry for many years in the past and understand if this server was most likely ready to go home, however, she did take our our table, begrudgingly. so, i thank her for doing her job but it would have been a much more pleasant experience if she hadn't acted so irritated that she had to take a table right at 10. i left her 20% tip but felt like she didn't really deserve it after the attitude. had it been a pleasant experience after a very long work day without any food, i would have left her 40% just for good service and a sincere smile. perhaps she should think twice next time if she chooses to have an attitude because she had to take a table right at closing time.
thank you, mama carolla's for the yummy food but i would appreciate less attitude from the service staff.

great experience. i'm a big fan of authentic italian and i feel they got it right. i don't find my way to bripple often but when i'm back in the area, i'm definately going to eat there again.

great meal out!. i had the rosemary 1/2 chicken and it was delicious. everything was cooked and prepped really well. beautiful setting, great food, good service and i was not waiting long for my food- the deserts looked pretty amazing too!

why go there?. my wife, friends and i had the displeasure of dinning at mamas. first the greeter put us up against another table. the restaurant was not crowded enough to squeeze up people. the service was very slow. the taste was very good but the portions were very small. you may laugh but total cost of ownership all up all in this is not a good investment in your time and or experience. there is more enjoyment at olive garden. this was our second visit. it appears that the restaurant likes to put you in tight places where it makes you uncomfortable. my vote if anyone asks us to go i will decline the opportunity to dine at mamas.

people amaze me. i love reading the stuff that people put up about great restaurants. it's always apparent to me when people have eaten too much fazoli's or olive garden. if you don't like flavor and you want your food to be bland then go to those places. mama carolla's in an indianapolis favorite for a reason. i've never had a bad meal there and neither have any of the people i've taken there. if you've had a bad experience then it's obvious that you shouldn't be there anyway.

three coins in the fountain. of my three favorite dishes at mama carolla's, i think my favorite is the veal medallions and i seem to order it every time my wite and i go there for dinner. we discovered old italian cooking years ago on a suggestion by friends and go there often. i have notice there are some, whom i think regard themselves as professional review writers which is apparent by the number of reviews on different places of choice that did not care for the italian flavor of mama carolla's food, then i would suggest to them they have never been to europe and have nothing to compare it with except other so-called italian places around indianapolis.. the atmosphere at mama carolla's is excellent and reminds me of a european house when i lived in france. so i leave those looking for good old italian cooking to try mama carolla's and see for yourself. those that have tried and do not care for can seek other avenues.

this place is amazing. must be a little patient when crowded but the mussels, calamari, and bread is to die for (rip to the wise keep the mussel broth and dip your bread in it) - amazing.
if you haven’t you must try this place, do not listen to the negative reviews until you try it yourself

great place they serve really good italian food, i have gone there with my husband and we both really liked the food really delicious italian food and i have tried the pasta here it's really good and they have good options in the drinks they serve good cocktails and beers. the staff is really nice and friendly they serve fresh food and really good customer service. 5 stars!!

my mother-in-law makes lasagna once a year. it's a big deal. everyone comes, and she makes a lot of it. after visiting mama carolla's on a work trip, it feels like i've got a secret mistress i can tell no one about. i went from being ruined for all other lasagnas to having a new secret favorite. the restaurant has such a genuine character to it also. can't recommend it enough.

could not of had better service at the bar. the two gentleman bartenders were on point and made a delicious hendricks martini along with perfect service. our entrees were so good and can't wait to go back.

you can tell a lot of care and time goes into their dishes. great quality dishes in a cozy, unique, atmosphere. if you like italian food, this should definitely be a priority on your list to try. their pasta is excellent, and their salmon is outstanding. nothing bad on the menu!

affordable, good service, great food. best italian in indianapolis. the homey, modest setting is perfect for dates. outdoor seating is nice too
