who doesn’t love a grilled cheese sandwich? i got the all american cause it looked like the most popular one (nearly all sold out). the staff were very lovely and the gcs was amazing 🤤just a bit pricey. will definitely be back to try thefondueone 😋

i stole the opportunity to grab a variety of breads and bakeries whilst i ran errands. one of the bakeries was the toasties at the infamous prahran market.

i got thefonduespecial, which is basically a godly form of ham&cheese toast. the bread was ever-so crispy. the salt rubbed on the toast gave it a nice touch of flavour and texture. the cheese was exceptionally rich and smooth, i was ready to run for another toastie. and for those instagram influencers, bloggers or for those who like watching satisfying videos, you will most definitely achieve the cheese pull.

staff were friendly, and the place was very clean and peaceful. i will love to return to try their toastie specials.

review: everybody who visits prahran market must eat this grilled cheese sandwich. while the store opens at 7:30am on a friday, cheese sandwiches are only available from 8am onwards on account of ovens needing time to heat up.

logistics aside, this is a classic example of simple but hearty brunch options in a melbourne! i always pay a little extra to go for thefonduespecial ($15) which includes ham. the melted cheese complements the ham and toasted bread - the types of cheese included makes it taste distinctly different from the ones you make at home.

if you have a smaller appetite like me, it’s possible to share the sandwich with your partner (this also gives you the opportunity to eat other things in the market!). a little tip: always add a bit of tabasco sauce for that added “kick”. in the past year, i’ve come here at least once a month. a clear #citaymusteat 🤩

cheese. overdose. the flaming reuben, what a star. thinly sliced strips of beef plonked a top of a crusty bread showered by a gorgeous cheese and spicy russian dressing that's been spiked with jalepenos and sriracha. mouth watering. the cheesefonduesanga also amazing... the combo of cheeses perfection between slices of bread that's been toasted right to the edge.

ordered the all american andfonduespecial (cut into quarters hence the presentation). i loved that they toast the bread well so it is nice and crunchy. the toasties are a little on the salty side but it helps to cut the oil of the cheese. definitely a great breakfast or snack!

staff are very friendly and helpful. great sit down area to eat. opposite market lane coffee to get your coffee fix as well.

on a very hungry saturday afternoon, we went searching for these guys in prahran market and we couldn't find them in their spot due to renovation-surprisingly we found them hidden in a small corner on the other side of the market near the veggies! we went ahead and ordered theirfondueand pimento sandwich. althoughfonduewas garlic-y and yumm , pimento blew us over because of its blend of flavours and a touch of peppery taste (not spicy at all!)

also grab one of their cheese blocks ( i was given the "look" when i asked for something similar to american cheese hahaha)

the combination of the cheese, ham and toast can never go wrong, but theirfonduespecial toast was a level-up! the thoroughly melt cheese with ham was enticing and the taste was greatly enhanced with a touch of mustard sauce, the bread was nicely toasted yet not greasy when i had it on hand. the only thing i hesitated was to get a cheese toast for $15...quite expensive for me.

2 years ago we ordered thefonduetoasty & pasta on cheese wheel with truffle.. thinking to come back for the pasta but it was no longer on their menu.. this time we tried thefonduespecial which has some additional ham in the toasty... sourdough was crispy & the sea salt on top was a nice addition.. i would recommend that you can just order the basic cheese toasties without any meat, as it makes the cheese less stringy... overall taste good but not as memorable as our first experience..

who doesn't love cheese and carbs? hot gooey cheese sandwiched between two slices of golden buttery crisped bread.

my partner and i tried thefonduespecial and the all-american, and both were incredible. thefonduespecial came with slices of delicious ham off the bone.

i am already thinking of going back for more, despite them being on the pricey side. when the quality and taste are that amazing, i'm willing to part with my hard-earned cash.

hands down best toastie in melb, cheese is a step above. tried thefonduespecial. make sure you try the red clipper hot sauce. keen to try the american.

i ordered thefonduespecial ($13) with gary’s butchers free range berkshire ham off the bone and dijon mustard 🧀🌟 it was cheese-licious!! the right degree of crispness, hot and cheesy🐰

pimento ($11)🌶 with cheddar, mozzarella, onions, parsley, roasted capsicum and cayenne pepper. the grilled buttery bread was perfectly toasted, not burnt at all 👏🏻 stuffed with delicious filling and ozzing cheese. a bit salty but overall satisfied!

mac & cheese ($13) was a bit let down, just bland😐 nothing spectacular about it. would be better if there was some pulled pork in it. next time i’ll just stick to toasties🤔

overall, a nice variety of grilled cheese toasties but a bit on the pricey side 💸

had thefonduecheese grill which consists of gruyere and comte cheese, shallots, garlic and wine sandwiched between two slice of butter coated sourdough bread. the cheese grill was toasted to perfection with that light golden brown surface and finished off with just a little sprinkle of salt. there was so much cheese that it can’t contain itself; it was literally oozing out of the sandwich. every bite was delightful; you get that initial thin outer crunch of the sandwich followed by the soft airy bread and warm gooey cheese. the type of cheese used is light and mild rather than pungent and the lightly sprinkled salt enhances the savoury profile of the cheese grill sandwich. they also have a variety of spicy hot condiments if you want to change it up and add some heat to your sandwich. overall for a simple meal it was outstanding.

it was so good that i had to seriously stop myself from ordering everything on the menu. must try the grilled cheese toasties - we had thefondueand the all american. i’ll never forget them 🧀🔥😋

this is by far the best toasties i've ever had! thefonduegrilled toast was crispy, buttery, cheesy - all that you could ask for in a cheese toast! definitely worth trying but definitely not for the health conscious.
