maker and monger is a cheese cart based in prahran market. they haven't gotten many reviews since its inception but i had always wanted to try their cheese sandwiches and cheeses. they do have samples of cheese.on the busiest of days there always seems to be a queue as everyone loves cheese. their pimento grill toastie was really good ($11). it is not too spicy and they use sourdough bread. they also use the best french cheese hence it was really creamy. here they use cayanne peppers and not a lot of salt which is good. this toastie had onion, peppers, spices,  garlic, cheese and sourdough breadi loved the gherkin which looked good with my toastie. they were more than happy to put gherkin on my plate when i askedthey also sell take home cheese and condiments for $10 each. the condiments look lovely.maker and monger should invite some bloggers out there to try their food. i'm thinking of sweet and sour fork.

got the reuben melt and it was absolutely amazing, best one ive ever had, the melted cheese did not add the usual swiss cheese taste i dont really like in other reubens, and either the pastrami or the seukrat had a bit of a spice to it which kinda tasted like harissa which made it perfect.

grilled cheese我是永远不会拒绝的,热脆的面包加上拉丝的芝士,不好吃都难,如果芝士质量再好点,配个老干妈,同时满足我两个胃~
i never thought grilled cheese would be great with chinese soybean chilli oil, now i know they are great match! so good and comforting in a winter day!

[video content] on the seventh day, god said ‘ let there be cheese’. in a world of cheese, there is only light and no darkness. those who sin with the glory of cheese, are welcomed, arms wide open by maker & monger at prahran market.  cheesemonger, anthony femia, dazzled by the inspiration of travel, welcomes a mecca for cheese worshippers. the raclette and grilled cheese cart, hand picks selections of artisan cheeses, then ignites the traditional recipes with a spectacle of cheesy corruption. a sprinkle of cheese in fairy-dust proportion? laughable. at maker & monger, expect blankets of raclette cheese, pasta swirled in hollowed out cheese wheels, flaming cheeses and famous grilled cheese toasties. this is no run-of-the-mill fromagerie.

hiding in prahran market this place offers some very decent grilled cheese sandwiches. we tried the all american grilled cheese sandwich, which tasted great overall but just a bit too salty. the toasted slice of bread was very crunchy as well. give this place a try if you're into cheesy stuff. hannah's a cheeselover but unfortunately she was too full from the brunch she had an hour earlier from the nearby tall timber.

amazing cheese! try the cheddar! had no idea that the same slice of cheese can elicit such different tastes depending on the cut. really nice owners too.

this stall in prahran market offers such a unique range of cheese sandwiches, and simply the most delicious sandwich i've ever had.

you cant go wrong with the all american cheese sandwich with the delicious melty cheese and crispy toasted sourdough bread. for something a little more adventurous, the pimento sandwich is cheesy yet with a little hint of spicyness. yum.

and dont forget to try the mork iced chocolate! simply divine.

not sure why the rating isn't considerably higher. maker and monger's premise is simple: the most incredible toasted cheese sandwiches you'll ever have.

the blend of cheese is perfect for meltability and flavour. there are two kinds of toasties: the all american, which i believe is vermont cheddar and monterey jack, combined with a little onion and herbs, and the pimiento, which includes chilli pepper, cayenne (maybe) and a bit of gherkin and aioli. they're both a flavour explosion in between crispy noisette sourdough that's finished with sea salt flakes.
there's also a flaming ruben: rye, sauerkraut, pastrami from gary's butchers around the corner, and comte that's flamed with a blowtorch.

come here for a satisfying and affordable lunch.

tucked away in prahran market, this awesome little antique cheese cart provides some of the best cheese offerings and sandwiches i've had in a while. great for a sit down while shopping, and the american grilled cheese is pure melted cheesy goodness!

you cannot go by and not try their toasties and i mean literally toasting.. flaming reuben sandwich made with artisan rye bread, mustard, home made sauerkraut,
wagyu pastrami & cheese! the base of it was quite spicy and even for my friend that had half of it with me.. its something you cannot wait to eat! will be back for another round! and in my photo attached tried the all american grilled cheese sandwich that had cheddar, onions, parsley, sourdough bread & butter :)
