overall great place but i thin it's little overrated to some extent and the food&drink is fine but no the greatest in the state

i call them "magical." why? because no matter my mood (stressed, sad, ambivalent), they always seem to magically make me feel better. because of their pure cream cheese goodness, they can be found in the refrigerated section of magpie caterers. make sure to come by and get your share...it truly is happiness in a cookie. magpie caterers 1409 r street, suite 102 sacramento, ca 95811

i'm not sure what took me so long to try this place. i came for a sunday brunch and ordered the biscuits and gravy with bacon and a couple of mimosas of course. i'm a biscuit and gravy snob, but they make it right here! biscuits were crispy on the outside and nice and moist on the inside with the perfect amount of gravy on top served with eggs and bacon on top. i can't wait to try other things on the menu, i'm officially a fan of magpie

do not be deterred by the mediocre rating. magpie cafe is the best coffee shop in baton rouge. you will not find higher quality espresso anywhere in this city. i've tasted coffee in some of the iconic espresso bars in america and i believe that magpie can hang with the best. get a latte, cappuccino, cold brew, or the roosevelt. you won't be disappointed.

magpie is an extraordinary restaurant. beautiful but not particularly glamorous, the focus is squarely on the food. the balance of flavors in the two dishes i had was next level intense - polenta was served grilled with a tart sauce and sweet roasted peppers - individually each item was on point, but together they sang. same with the seared tuna - over farro, green apple, pomegranate, and a sweet roasted squash. it's the kind of 5 star spot that makes you question every other 5 star rating you've ever given.

this was my second time at magpie, first time at their new location on 16th street. we start off with drinks and an appetizer. the roselle, roselle was very light and bubbly, for our appetizer we had the olive tapenade. i don't care too much for olives, but this was delicious! the perfect about of spread to go with the toasted to perfection bread. we had the chicken for two which had a whole chicken laid on a bed of adult spinach and potatoes. the chicken was moist but didn't taste like it had been seasoned prior to cooking. and the sauce had ginger in it, i could do without the ginger. but the potatoes were good.

i can't quite make up my mind about magpie. people are raving about it and i've been on several occasions and had different experiences. their greek yogurt and homemade granola is out of this world but my coffee has been hit or miss. i'm pretty particular about my coffee so i relish in consistency but i'm still not ready to write it off because they have an array of delectable delights!

i'm not sure their coffees are as spectacular as magpie advertises, though i do find it delicious. i really enjoy their large rotation of quiches that normally star cheese, fresh vegetables, and a crunchy crust. desserts or sweet breakfast options are an excellent choice if that's what suits your mood. everything is fresh, but items often run out soon after they're put out for purchase. check social media to see daily menus and the associated schedule.

spinach mushroom panini (vegan!). delish but sandwich needed a bit more contrast (sun dried tomatoes or olive taplinaide)

best brunch/eggs benedict. best eggs benny hands down made with fresh local ingredients. tasty petso, pine nuts and grilled veggies (asparagus, potato, and artichoke heart) on the side. the biscuit was homemade with flaky goodness. the organic poached egg was cooked to perfection and the sauce was tasty and not overwhelming. finished the whole plate and wanted more deliciousness.

so i actually discovered the magpie cafe when  i had been out at the shady lady... i came here once before with my a friend for brunch and this place immediately became my go to place for brunch, especially for out-of-town visitors. the menu is diverse, the prices are decent and the food is delicious!

leave a reply magpie cafe, in sacramento california, serves the perfect blt, with simple, sensational ingredients usually, i know what i want to order within seconds of scanning a menu. but at  *magpie cafe , on the edge of downtown sacramento, california, i’m at a complete loss. my first instinct is to go with the duck confit salad. but then i see an absolutely loaded, pulled-pork sandwich slide past on a server’s arm. hmmm.

i don't like coffee or espresso but i tried a couple of the sweets. the ginger cupcake, the paleo blueberry coconut muffin, and a chocolate chip cookie. all were terrific. i will have to return for lunch sometime. i can't stand the smell of coffee beans though, so i will have to take it to go, even though the little dining room is adorable (love the chandelier!).

i love magpie. i am there almost weekly. high quality coffee and fresh, natural, and delicious food. i had the best grilled cheese of my life here( french onion grilled cheese sandwich!!). but i have to say that the service is not the best. when there is a long line, there is no sense of urgency or concern that people have to wait much longer than necessary. the workers are always very nice and pleasant, but i am often frustrated about the line and the wait. also, unfortunately, my drink is not consistent. when certain baristas are working, i know my drink will be amazing. but other times it's just not good. other than that, magpie is one of my favorite spots in baton rouge. hope they are here for a long time!
