i find ourselves at thelurefor breakfast when we’re visiting victoria from vancouver.

the staff is attentive and super nice. they seem to be always near by when needed.

the food is consistent and exceeds my expectations. i find the breakfast meals are just the perfect portion and offers great value!

thelureis definitely not like other hotel restaurants offering mediocre food.

i would definitely recommend to friends and family!

we enjoyed the stunning view of the inner harbour from our table inlurerestaurant, while we studied the menu and decided on our drinks. i chose a glass of gewürtztraminer from thornhaven winery in summerhill, british columbia while my companion drank a citrus chamomile tea from mighty leaf teas. tags delta victoria dining reviewlurevictoria restaurant review read more

first time dining atlure- and to top it off, we had a nice summery day at their patio. staff were friendly and service was good. i wasn't too impressed with the brunch/lunch menu options though. they could've added more to the frittata (aka a side of hash browns? it was looking a bit stingy for the money they're asking for). items ordered were: albacore tuna, crab cakes, frittata, florentine benedict, and fish n chips.

expensive and underwhelming breakfast.lurehas a great view and good service, but the breakfast is way overpriced.

i got a salmon eggs benedict for $17. the presentation was mediocre-- yellow hollandaise over a yellow english muffin with golden home fries. not even a smattering of parsley to add some contrast. the flavour was fine, but you can get a much better (and cheaper) salmon benny at so many other places in victoria.

not bad, but the food's definitely not worth the price.

disappointed!. two years ago husband and i stayed at delta hotel for the weekend and was so in love the place specially their restaurant lure. so we invited our really good friend to join us over the weekend. last night we ate atlureand got really disappointed. we had to send back our food, an order of strip loin and two orders of pork chop. there's just no way you can cut it with a steak knife, food is overcooked. they need to bring back the old menu. by the looks of it, it wasn't the high classlurethat we remember. this just makes me sad. but anyways, i compliment our server kristen for such an amazing customer service she rendered.

great food with a lively new atmosphere.. having eaten at thelurebefore the renovations i can honestly say the place has changed, but in some great ways!

from the moment i came through the door i was impressed by the new lounge and bar area. a little more modern than before and the music was louder than i remember but it gave the place such a great ambiance. the service was great, servers very friendly and happy to accomodate any requests we had.

we had a flawless view of the harbour and city from our seat on the sunny new patio.

i had the calamari to start (fresh and crispy) and the burger for entree (incredibly tasty, on a pretzel bun, rival for bin 4 if you ask me!) tried the 'cocojito' cocktail (a twist on the original) which was refreshing and really well balanced. the kicker for this great experience? the food and drinks are easily as good as they were before but the prices have become much more reasonable. win win. i think i've found a new regular hangout!

i've been reading some posts where people disliked it...i've been about 6 times since the new concept and i don't have a bad thing to say except that it's super busy and sometimes i can't sit outside. lol it's quite the 360 turn about and i love it! now it's more inviting, fun and the food is shareable. who doesn't love to share? good loud music but not intrusive. i've tried almost the whole menu and i'm very happy with each item. the price point too is acceptable. i mean look where you are and the view! the view...really go see for yourself!
super happy customer! next to try is the pickle pub run so i can stop inlureon the way. cheers!

casual, fresh local menu & best views in victoria. love the new lure!! fantastic fresh new menu, focused on local ingredients, plenty of options and fairly priced menu. everyone can enjoy the amazing views of the inner harbour from inside or outside on the fabulous and funky new patio. in the evening they have outdoor heaters, fireplace and they even give you a cozy blanket to keep you warm under the stars as you enjoy the best views of victoria. will definitely be back again!! oh i almost forgot - they also have free parking anytime so you can relax and enjoy without thinking about parking. afterwards we enjoyed a nice walk along the harbour which was just perfect. if you have not tried the newlure- what are you waiting for? check it out!!

i went tolurefor lunch with 3 family members last week. after being seated we waited for half an hour without being served. no water, no visit from a server, nothing. very few people were in the restaurant so it wasn't just a busy time. we left and went to spinnakers where we received excellent service.lurehas serious gaps in their ability to provide service.

fireworks!. we were excited to make reservations (online) to watch the canada day fireworks from the newlurepatio. their stunning website, www.lurevictoria.com, confirmed our choice.

when we arrived, we were greeted by two harried staff at the hosting desk who practically said 'who are you & what do you want?' - then informed us we got the last table on the deck...which led me to wonder silently why a table hadn't been reserved as per our request.

luckily our server was equipped with more tact and a winning smile. she led us to a little table on the side deck, where our view of the fireworks was sure to be obstructed by the roof of the restaurant. she could appreciate this observation and promised to ask the manager about moving us to a more desirous location when a table for two became available.

i enjoyed a 9 oz glass of bacchus wine from alderlea (light & dry), while my husband slowly quaffed a pint of thirst quenching hoyne's dark matter.

we started off with a side of grilled artisan bread which comes with a small dish of humous & one of olive tapenade. it was tasty & artfully presented, but the humous (at least) had been sitting out so long it had developed a bit of a crust on the top edges.

i ordered the vegetarian option of the cast iron flatbread - which turned out to be a personal sized pizza - and requested the addition of asparagus and mushrooms, to which our helpful server and busy kitchen staff kindly obliged. yum.

my husband tried the fresh rotini pasta, and reported at the end of the meal that he was sufficiently suffoncified. :)

meanwhile, our fiesty little waitress had secured an amazing table for us on the front deck & thoughtfully scooted us over to our new seats prior to the main dishes arriving. we spent dinner watching the mingling crowd below - so many families with adorable little toddlers abound - and were famously positioned to experience the sonorous & sparkling array of fireworks close up.

as sure as blazes, as soon as the first burst of pyrotechnics lit up the sky and the twinkling lights cascaded down, people from inside crowded onto the deck to drink it all in. it was magic.

mediocre & thoughtless. what a difference a couple of years make. despite negative opinions of friends, we've returned tolurebecause we had a really good experience in the past. now they're just about making a buck and giving a f.... !

what does any diner expect when the kitchen messes up an order ? steak overdone in this case. they expect a redo without question or attitude and maybe a free coffee/desert, heaven forbid getting it comped.

my birthday lady had to eat her main dish all by herself while i waited for my supposedly "angus new york steak" to be done to the right temperature. well, 20 mins later, done correctly finally, i then eat by myself. no real apology, instead... "we get this at this table all the time". really?? i'm the unlucky diner that happened to call out a mistake by the kitchen and i'm not the only one ? maybe other savvy diners that sit at the best table of the house and spend $300 for a dinner-for-two, are not some chums off the street and know a thing or two about food.

maybe they even grill a ny steak at home correctly and know when it's overcooked. for $33 a plate i can expect perfection and not excuses to make me and my companion feel stupid.

not even a $4 coffee was offered, but everything billed in full.

also, when they're out of a particular wine, they'll offer you a more expensive one, without adjusting for the difference.
tact and business sense and good service is a fine art in fine dining and sorry, butlurehas sunk to a money grabbing and don't care hotel food court.

at $300 per couple you can get a lot better anywhere else. good luck with fleecing the tourists, this local diner won't ever be back!

lesson learned: don’t order the ‘casual fare'. today (october 12) i ordered a simple club sandwich at thelureat the delta hotel here in victoria.

sandwich arrived stone cold and the toast was so dry it was inedible. since i was with family i tried not to make a scene and managed to choke down (literally) half the sandwich before sending the rest back.

i explained to our server exactly what had happened in the kitchen: somebody made toast; let it sit until cold; made the club sandwich; then let that sit while the rest of the meal was being prepared. it doesn’t take a lot of ability to get a club sandwich ready to be served while its at least luke warm, so i’ll chalk that up to sheer laziness among the kitchen staff.

the server comped half the price of the sandwich ($7 off the $14 price). i guess company policy considers this fair as i had actually manged to eat half of it before giving up in disgust. no word of apology; no promise to do better next time. it would have been nice if she’d said something about the quality of the meal, otherwise it comes across as “the customer is always right but we still think you’re a jerk so we’ll do the absolute minimum, and damned if we’ll take the least responsibility.”

the other meals were reportedly quite nice. did i insult someone by ordering such ordinary fare?

of note: thelurehas a web site but the “please tell us about your dining experience at lure” link doesn’t seem to be working. is there a message in this?

another wonderful experience. this is our second dinner visit to lure. sometimes a new discovery is never the same the next time around. butlurehas not disappointed us. everything from the nice complimentary underground parking to friendly delta hotel lobby staff, to the great welcome at the restaurant ..right through to the wait-staff was exemplary. the wait-staff was always in the background but not in our faces. the corner table with a sunset view was wonderful: so much to see and occupy our time. now the food. in one word, excellent. this time around we had the chef's recommendation: a beautiful cut of tenderloin steak, sumptuous halibut cheeks, and their signature (bacon) risotto (however, they could have left off the swiss chard). otherwise, lots to eat on the plate and no rush in getting through it -- mmm, just melted in our mouths! a half-litre of baccus complimented the main plate to a 't'. we finished off the delight with a choice from their desert menu -- again, anything there is 'to die for'.

yes, all in all such a great experience; one which we will most likely repeat even without being a "special occasion".
this restaurant may just become our "special occasion" all on its own.

bravo!

fresh dungeness crab cobb salad from the delta ocean pointe’slurerestaurant. a staple on its appetizer menu, the layered salad included butter lettuce, hard boiled egg slices, crispy bacon, creamy avocado and was garnished with colorful edible flowers.

a view to dine for. we didn't eat atlurethe night we stayed at the delta ocean pointe hotel -- so many restaurants to try, so little time! -- but the innovative seafood-heavy menu looked great. (and pricey) breakfast the next morning (included in our room fee package) was good, real canadian, lotsa sausage, bacon (and not back bacon) for me and salmon in my wife's frittata. but it's hard to screw up breakfast unless you're really trying. our cappucinos were not as good as australian coffees always are, but very few outside oz or italia ever reach that standard.

what merits a mention is the excellent view from lure's picture windows. they have a great east- and southern-facing aspect over victoria's inner harbour. you can watch the passenger ferries cruising to and from washington state, seaplanes taxiing in to their landing, b.c.'s parliament house, kayakers and sculling teams paddling by... if i was a tourist from someplace far away (instead of just a visitor from the other side of the georgia strait) i would totally want to book a table by the plate glass just to drink in the scenery. that's as intoxicating as half a bottle of wine!
