first off; it isn’t a diner, it’s a cafe. it’s small and quaint, but tastefully done. service was pretty good considering the area. i ordered the daily breakfast special of country fried steak and gravy with eggs, home fries and toast. the eggs were perfectly cooked as ordered, the steak however was good, but the breading was to heavy and not cooked long enough so it became a soggy mess. it needed just a little longer in the deep fryer. the pre cooked home fries i could have done without, they were cold and soft. the toast was fantastic!

my dad is really, really picky.  when he visits me in dc, he isn't into fancy dinners or brunches, and in dupont it's often hard to find a place that both he and my mom will like! luckily there's luna, where he can get a good, traditional breakfast at a reasonable price.  every time i've been the food has been good, the wait bearable (it's popular on the weekends), and the coffee quickly refilled.

poor welcome and waiters look like tired already at 10:30am on a wednesday!
scrambled eggs were not from natural eggs but pasteurised jots.
they should clean it up better, my t-shirt was sticking to the back of my seat on the bench! ew!

i ordered a sirloin burger on their tuesday $5 burger special. surprisingly it was empty. of course it was 8:30 in the evening. the burger and fries were great.

simple tasty food. all of us had different dishes and we all had the same reaction. tasty but nothing to rave about. planning to come back .

great service . friendly staff. the montecristo was great ! creamy tomato soup was a great way to start the meal . great prices and close to dupont circle.

the benedicts were really great, and there were a lot of options, including a couple suitable for vegetarians. i had the classic benny, which came with thin slices of ham folded in half under the poached egg.

good food.. foods very good, coffee is great. unfortunately the service is sub par. your waiter rarely makes an appearance. good atmosphere. 6.5 out of 10
