lucky 13

great place.. this place was packed... we walked in found an empty table and the waitress approached us within a minute to ask us our drink order. nice size beer for a good price. ordered a garlic burger with bacon and a side of fried pickles. i have nothing butgreatthings to say. they smoke their bacon in house and man is it smokey and thick cut, which is exactly what i love about bacon. the burger was also perfect; cooked to medium(pink in the middle) so they are nice and juicy and not dried out like a lot of burger places. and fyi: they have written on their menu that they cook them to medium and if you want it cooked more then you must ask. service great, food great, ambiance great, and they even had a shuffleboard table, which is extremely hard to find even when you're looking for one. :)

very good burgers. good value for money.

the place does not look attractive from outside. however it does look nice and authentic inside. service was a bit slow according to us standard.greatburgers and fries. the bouncer outside is professional although he kind of behave like a cop.

i have tried several other burger joints in the slc area and i must say this was the best so far.   the others are "local" chains and some "family-oriented."  lucky 13 requires that everyone - and i mean everyone - must be over 21 and there is a person at the door who inspects every driver license.  so, make sure you bring yours!

now, i didn't come here to drink (lunch hour and all), but heard the burgers were very good and lucky 13 did not disappoint.  the meat was nicely grilled withgreatflavor, the bun was soft and did not fall apart.  it was the bacon which really was a hit.  i believe they smoke it themselves and cooked just right.  

very busy, but got a seat right away - the parking, on the other hand, can be a challenge.

fast, friendly service and a 4 means will definitely place this on my favorite list to come back on my next visit.

ring of fire burger. burger with roasted habanero and jalapeno peppers,greatif you like the heat!

the fungus among us. was funging good. got it with a spicy black bean patty.greatfor vegitarians.

unlucky with staff. i love eating out, always average tip between 25-45% & served for years so i don't consider myself unfairly biased when reviewing a restaurant. but lucky 13 has upset me enough to write this long overdue review.
i used to love going to l13, and went there twice a week before it became the popular hipster hangout it is today.
i've had everything on the well thought out menu and you'd think the waitress/staff would know my name or at least recognize me after dozens of good checks withgreattips. not so at l13. never even a thank you! for a 40% tip? at least acknowledge me and i might ask for you in person and keep lining your pockets.

the burgers are good, but then again so are crown burger and apollo with a lot less attitude. still, i continued patronizing as i watched the price of menu items climb, even though the waitstaff is probably the worst in salt lake.
i don't blame the over 1 hour wait times on the staff or kitchen, hey when a place is popular and gets busy, it can be a long wait! what i do blame lucky 13 for is rude attitude staff and botching orders. lost orders with no apology or attempt to expedite an order that was 1hr and 20 min late or even a suggested comp drink or fries to say sorry we blew it. lost credit card for bar tab they rudely 'claimed' they didn't have... phonecall the next day to a different staff member and "yeah it's right here on the bar. come get it."
on another occassion 3 of us were seated before four nearby tables that arrived 15-20 minutes after us but got their food before us and we ordered nothing fancy. again, no apology, just a huff and snarky -"why didn't you say something?" when replying "we tried to get your attention." were told, "can't you see i'm crazy busy?"
but that still wasn't the last straw. i decided it was just a crazy night and tried l13 again, and took a few friends there for a birthday burger celebration. fail. after 35 minutes the waitress hadn't even acknowledged us for a first greet/ drink order. they weren't terribly busy on a wednesday so there was no excuse. after waving her over she asked what we would like and still hadn't brought drinks after 20 minutes. we decided to get food somewhere else after paying and leaving lucky 13 for the last time. until things change i won't be back. even mcdonalds have staff who are friendlier and more on the ball. and wash your hands. i do notice if you work there and buzz out of the bathroom with just a flick of water under the faucet instead of using soap. not cool.

awesome burgers withgreatand unique combinations! loves the food though the service had much to be desired. not the friendliest and very slow. we sat at our dirty table for 10 minutes before a waiter ever even came by to greet us and clear the table. thankfully the food made up for it and i can still post that i like it! the nut butter and bacon burger is not
to be missed!!

i have been very disappointed with the way lucky 13 has been the past few months. they need to do a better job managing the kitchen the wait for food is way to long. we waited 45 mins just for our drinks and another hr for our food. then last friday i called 15 times to get a order to go and the machine says when they are busy they don't pick up the phone. so i go and there is 20 people there and the bartender says its been way slow today. talk about rude service a mean answering machine and its not worth the wait. sorry 13 you just lost agreatcustomer. i can make a better burger at home.

great find for drinks, breakfast or dinner!. the food here is surprisingly delicious.greatburgers, excellent breakfast menu and you can drink a fancy breakfast beer/cocktail at like 10am on a sunday because it's an actual bar! woo hoo!

this is a really good burger place. it actually is one of my favorite burger places in the salt lake area. this is a bar. people will be drinking and may look at you slightly funny if you are not. get any burger on the menu. you will not be disappointed. call in and order the burger to go. the staff are reallygreatand accommodating. i love spicy food and order the ring of fire about every other time i go there. not for the faint of heart but an amazing spicy burger. it will make you cry.

i decided to try this a few weeks ago with some friends. after waiting 45 minutes, we finally got our burgers. the wait was a bit ridiculous, but the burger was delicious. today, when looking at my bank statement, i realized that the waitress had turned the $11 bill to a $14 bill. a $2 tip was extremely generous for the less thangreatservice, but to change it to a $5 tip isn't acceptable. i realize its only a few bucks, but it's dishonest regardless. i'm still waiting for a call back from the manager... be sure to keep your receipts!

extremely terrible service. i normally don't do this, but we had absolutely terrible service.

my husband and i tried lucky 13 on 06/16/2012 for the very first time. when we first walked in, the doorman just stared at us, not welcoming us, not asking us for our id's, anything. we hand him our id's, and since we haven't been there before, weren't familiar with seating and whatnot.

when we sat down, we were greeted by the waitress, amy, and asked if we wanted some drinks and a menu. we ordered drinks, and she gave us a menu. she came back after about 10 minutes, and we placed our order. it would have beengreatservice if she would have given us at least the courtesy to let us know that the food would take at the minimum 30 minutes. if the expectation was set, we wouldn't be as upset as we are. amy wasn't attentive to our table at all. she seemed to take care of her outside tables fairly well, but only came to check on our food when i was able to flag her down. it took close to an hour before we even got our food. and to set the bar here, 2 sets of customers that sat down 20-30 minutes after us got their food within 5-10 minutes of when we received ours.

i couldn't say whether or not the food is even worth coming back for. the service there is extremely unsatisfactory. i would hope that they would train their employees to set the bar, and to be attentive to all of their customers, and to at least try to make things right instead of making excuses. we are ones that tip even if the service isn't that great, but tonight, the waitress, the doorman, and the guy that served our food, ruined our dining experience.

the food was awesome! i had the double double with cajun fries and they were great! my buddy let me try his beer battered onion rings and the smoked bacon and they were excellent! the only downside was the service. the place only had two people on a friday afternoon and it was never packed but steady enough for 3 people at least. the staff was friendly and the food more than made up for the wait. bottom-line go there forgreatfood of you have the time!

awesome place. this place and it's employees are what a true "grown-up" road house should be! start withgreatfood- the salad with house-smoked bacon is to die for-add employees that remember you and what you like from the first time you step foot in the place and finish with above average liquor selection and inexpensive prices and you have all the makings of my new favorite hang out. (oh and the patio facing the ballpark doesn't hurt either!
