luck lust liquor & burn

as you have probably noticed, i have started going out to the northern quarter a lot more. there used to be a time when the northern quarter was a bit too trendy for me. this has however changed recently, with a lot of northern quarter restaurants becoming manchester landmarks. i am absolutely chuffed as it opens up the area to a new set of people who usually would confine themselves to areas like deansgate and spinningfields (read: me). and all this is down to a few northern quarter restaurants like solita and almost famous which have become landmarks no longer restricted by its location. yes, almost famous has moved shop and is now based in the more upmarket deansgate but it’s still a northern quarter baby at heart and one look at the almost famous operated  lucklustliquor and burn is all the proof you need. i was out shopping for shoes this weekend and after trying on what felt like a million pairs of shoes (that i thought looked exactly the same) on the instance of the shop assis

i can't believe that it's a year ago that lllb opened and it still remains my most viewed blog post ever with several thousand hits. possibly this was because i was the first to go and review it there. funnily enough, on the same day, we went to damson media city and whilst we enjoyed it, we've not returned since, whereas we've been to lucklustliquor and burn quite a few times. because at places like this, you can get a good feed for around a tenner so you return more often.

the best burger place in manchester, the only problem i had with it was we had to wait 2hrs for a table and that's a long wait when your so hungry! but once we got a table and ordered we were not disappointed! wouldn't go on a weekend as it gets really busy hence the 2hr wait but i don't know anyone that has a bad word to say about lovelustliquor and burn! all the staff are fab and very friendly there is a brilliant cocktail bar downstairs while you wait with a wide selection of drinks would defiantly return :)

so, for the first time i had a bunch of people finally visiting me from back home (mumbai) which included a journalist cum world traveler, a finance guru (my uncle), a lecturer (my aunt) and iron man (my 7 year old cousin). they reached manchester --- tired and hungry expecting the manchester foodie (me :d love this name tag for myself) to take them to an amazing place to feed their stomach. after a lot of debate we decided on mexican cuisine, and the first name that came to my mind was lucklustliquor and burn.

it was rainy as always in manchester and we walked to almost famous's very lustful sister establishment. the barman greeted me with a massive smile (completely unlike my last experience here) and we got a table for 4 and a half people (half being my little cousin). the restaurant lived up to its name because it was indeed very lustful and well let's just say mexicano. we ordered for corona's and wine for drinks which were decently priced (3.5 and 4 pounds respectively). moving on to the most orgasmic bit -- food (yumm)... we went for a bikini hottie (hell yeah!), jailbreak beef chilli and mac & cheese. i must admit i started drooling the minute they brought the order to our plate and all the drool was worth it as the food was literally out of the world!

now lets get to the music, they won me over with soundtracks from pulp fiction and santana. i was pleasantly surprised to see how the place was full on a thursday afternoon (seems like there are quite a few freelancers in manchester).

verdict : i can't wait to go back

continuing on from the bank holiday trip across lake district and manchester…

after a delicious brunch at teacup, we headed out of town to lyme park to see the mansion that pride and prejudice was shot at… after walking around, taking photos and taking in the marvellous scenic views.. we got hungry

thanks to foursquare and google map reviewers we found this place again in my favourite neighbourhood, northern quarter..

lustlusthouses manchester’s top burger joint, almost famous while offering their take on mexican classics such as burritos and tacos..

don’t be surprised of the amount we ordered.. cause we were really hungry.. here is what we had

first up, 3 sets of shredded beef, chicken and bbq pulled pork tacos and their fiery buffalo fillets, thats right fillet not wings!

they were delicious… succulent, pack full of flavours and the tacos topping were a great combination.. the buffalo fillets were really juicy and the sauce had the right amount of heat and acidity to it which sometime hard to find the right balance… great start to the meal

almost famous goes big on their burgers, with four of us being super hungry we got the inferno tower.. four meat pattys, chilli, spicy sour cream, cheese, inferno chicken fillets all in a bun.. and their double bacon cheese burger concoction

the burgers were really good… especially the bacon cheeseburger, tender savour patty, sweet and smokey bacon with their homemade famous sauce were delicious! plus their fries were also crunchy outside and soft inside.. delicious…

if you like american and mexican comfort food.. come and indulge it here in the northern quarter of manchester cause i think its really good…

overall i though lucklustliquor and burn was a pretty great place, the menu and decor are kooky and fun and the staff very helpful and friendly. this would be a great place to go with a big group of friends who are the look out for some spicy and filling grub. it is a welcome addition to the northern quarter.
