holy napalm sauce!!!. went to longboards today after reading reviews and talking about it for about a week. my friend and i split the orange chicken wrap, the five alarm beef panini wrap and the garlic potato salad. first of all the potato salad is seriously good; clearly not store-bought. the orange chicken wrap tasted like cold orange chicken, that sounds like a complaint, but it's not! the wrap had sugar snap peas, broccoli florets, big pieces of chicken and the orange sauce was delicious, sweet with a strong orange flavor. all the flavors in the wrap came through clearly. perfect summer food! now for the five alarm beef: i have trouble findingfoodspicy enough for me and the napalm sauce lived up to its name. my friend couldn't eat her half; it was too spicy and i was very happy to relieve her of it. the menu is enormous and i would like to say i'm going to try more things from it, but i'm probably going to be stuck on the five alarm beef for awhile. i wish they would open one on 39th street where i live...

yummy yummy!. a beloved restaurant with two locations in the kansas city area. the distinctive eating location is full of flavor not only in its food, but also in the décor. stepping into the restaurant, you’re immediately thrown onto the beach. all landlocked customers of kansas city can appreciate the surfboards, lei’s and island adornments lining the walls.
as delightful as the decorations are, thefoodis the hot topic. hot noodle bowls, cool style wraps, hawaiian sliders, flat breads and grilled wraps with warm sear marks keep customers coming back. the sides are scrumptious as well and include, potato salads, rice and their very reputably crispy maui onion chips.
some of the top meals are the cabo chicken wrap, with guacamole, pepperjack, pico de gallo and chipotle chicken grilled to perfection. another favorite is the spicy krab wrap, which includes peanuts, pepperjack, rice, sriracha, and spicy chinese sauce. children’s meals are also available.
the speed of service is great as well. you walk up to the register, order, pay, then sit and wait about five minutes and yourfoodis ready to dive into. each wrap is wrapped in foil to hold in the fresh heat. the drinks are all self-serve.
longboards prices are fairly low as well. they range from $5.75 to about $11. with low prices and great food, there really isn’t a reason to not get a taste of the islands. the only difference is the restaurant is pretty chilly inside. if the air-conditioner was turned down, longboards would be just about perfect.

great food. i wish longboards had a location somewhere south of downtown. this is one of my favorite restaurants in town, mostly because i don't know where else to getfoodlike this. i have only tried a few of their wraps, but i don't feel like i need to try everything. the wow! kung pao wrap is incredible, and it's actually spicy (i normally don't have much luck with restaurants calling their menu items spicy).

i'd avoid going here at noon, because the place is cramped and popular - it might take a while to get your food. if you have time to wait, though, it's totally worth it.

thefoodis great!. i used to frequent longboards when i worked up north. theirfoodis delicious and very affordable. normally one burrito would make two meals for me. my favorite was the bootcamp burrito with a side of teriyaki sauce. it had brown rice, egg whites, turkey, black olives and lettuce. i live in lee's summit now but on occasion my husband and i trek up there to eat. we would love for you to open one in lee's summit!!

amaaaazing, but..... thefoodis awesome, it's cheap, filling, very tasty. my favorite thing at the moment is a cabo chicken with 3-alarm sauce. so good.

problem is, you have to go during non-peak hours. sometimes the wait is absolutely ridiculous. sometimes it's due to the line (which makes it even worse), but sometimes it seems the staff moves at the speed that the restaurant reflects. laid back, slow, chill, etc. overall, it's still worth the wait.

bestfoodin the northland. thefoodis consistently amazing, regardless of what i order. cabo beef is my fallback because it's one of the my favorite foods in the world. longboards is one of the things i miss most when i'm away at school. it's simply a well-run restaurant that is really good at what they do. i couldn't recommend it enough.

love me-the wrap shack. im og and have to stick up for some of the bestfoodand classiest people i know. first if your the few people complaining i love reading your reviews the most because usually its your own stupidity that caused your bad experience! so here is the deal everything is fantastic, for roughly what you would pay for a fastfoodcombo at hardees you get a fresh tasting unique and often very healthy meal. i love the sliders and also like the sushi wrap. gilbert is a wiz at sauces and has taught everyone well, so try some different things or sauce on the side can make a dish. love the grub bro,

good food, good price, limited seating. i went with a monthly dinner club to longboards. we all agreed that thefoodwas very good and the prices were also inexpensive. the place was busy with a lot of carryout. the only downside was that there really isn't a lot of seating. our group had 9 in it and we had to wait for the one other large party to leave before we could get a seat. we pushed three tables together in the front window. next time i go i'll take fewer people or get carryout.foodwas prompt, hot and very good. i can't compare it to "authentic" hawaiianfoodbecause i've never had it specifically but i would go back for this. it is totally in a non-descript strip mall. don't blink, you'll miss it.

one of my absolute favs!!!. i have been here on several occasions where lines have formed out the door with people who have traveled from all areas of the city to enjoy the special flavors that longboards offers. their staff is amazing at handling the amount of traffic they receive. they are specifically good at explaining and recommending items on the menu, being friendly, curteous, and above all - grateful! now for thefood- wow! their spring rolls are my absolute favorite of any that i have ever had. the 5 alarm wrap rocks & is sure to warm you on even the coldest days. i have a bottomless stomach, but this thing was so filling that i couldn't get through even a third of it which meant yummy leftovers for two more meals! i've also had the cabo beef which was amazing! the avacado in this wrap complimented the other flavors perfectly! we've tried many more items, but these were our favorites!

smh hawaiian?. my fiance and i have a soft spot for authentic home style food. the kind your grandma makes. i grew up listening to my friends begging their mothers for meatloaf nodding my head in empathy with a mouth full of grandmas fresh food. my fiance, who is from the birth of the mix plate, hawaii, spent several years in china feasting on a buffet of goodness. needless to say we don't just go out to eat, we hunt for our food, prey if you must.

i'm not sure where to start. deep sigh i'm going to go with the bad first. simply because i would be embarrassed to recommend this place to any other hawaiians or those who want real hawaiian food.

bad: describes themselves as a hawaiian restaurant. last i checked the category usually describes the type of food. slapping some surfboards on the walls and throwing in some siracha does not make thefoodhawaiian. it would have made me feel a bit better if an auntie was on the grill at least. no poke, no spam, no lau lau, no taro, no poi, no loco moko, no hawaiians. on which hawaiian island do they serve a menu like longboards and call it hawaiian food? just throwing it out there. it is a valid question.

needless to say i won't be taking my hawaiian, samoan, tongan in-laws to longboards ever. i'm not saying that theirfoodis bad. i'm saying longboards should be ashamed at calling theirfoodhawaiian.

good: decorum was cheesy but uniquely entertaining. it actually sets up false expectation for a real hawaiian menu. the hostess girl did an excellent job describing what the menu was when she saw our confused faces staring at the menu.

longboards isn't going to win any awards for fanciest or most romantic restaurant. but that's quite alright because therefoodis great and is a perfect lunch spot if you're north of the river. if you can't make it to hawaii soon, trek on up to gladstone and try longboards instead. if you close your eyes and have a good imagination, it's a pretty close second.

so good the 1st time i went back the next day!. yesterday i had the pork luau: pork, pepper jack cheese, pineapple, broccoli, peas, peppers, white rice and teriyaki sauce on a grilled to perfection honey wheat burrito style wrap. today i went back for the teriyaki grill: chicken (beef is another option), mozzarella, broccoli, peas, peppers, white rice and teriyaki sauce on a honey wheat burrito style wrap. the teriyaki sauce was sweet and lightly peppered, not sugary. the honey wheat wrap was toasty, not the least bit doughy or chewy, and filled with tasty goodness from end to end. i'm a real light weight and pretty finicky when it comes to eating, but i happily polished off my wrap in no time and momentarily contemplated licking the wrapper it came in.

as for the staff, they're wonderful. everyone is friendly and happy to answer any questions you might have about the menu. i've only been there during lunch hour, but even at their busiest time everyone (including the customers) was super nice. obviously the wait is going to be a little longer than at a fastfoodchain, but the food, value and overall experience is worth it. the only drawback is deciding what to try.

by the way, besides grilled wraps they have "cool" deli style wraps, options for vegetarians, smaller wraps for kids, hot noodle bowls, salads, and some very good house made sides.
