good food, good price, limited seating. i went with a monthly dinner club to longboards. we all agreed that the food was very good and the prices were also inexpensive. the place was busy with a lot of carryout. the only downside was that there really isn't a lot of seating. our group had 9 in it and we had to wait for the one other large party to leave before we could get a seat. we pushed three tables together in the front window. next time i go i'll take fewer people or get carryout. food was prompt, hot and very good. i can't compare it to "authentic" hawaiian food because i've never had it specifically but i would go back for this. it is totally in a non-descript strip mall. don't blink, you'll miss it.

one of my absolute favs!!!. i have been here on several occasions where lines have formed out the door with people who have traveled from all areas of the city to enjoy the special flavors that longboards offers. their staff is amazing at handling the amount of traffic they receive. they are specifically good at explaining and recommending items on the menu, being friendly, curteous, and above all - grateful! now for the food - wow! their spring rolls are my absolute favorite of any that i have ever had. the 5 alarm wrap rocks & is sure to warm you on even the coldest days. i have a bottomless stomach, but this thing was so filling that i couldn't get through even a third of it which meant yummy leftovers for two more meals! i've also had the cabo beef which was amazing! the avacado in this wrap complimented the other flavors perfectly! we've tried many more items, but these were our favorites!

by far, without exaggerating, the best grilled wraps in kc. i've tried six different wraps and was impressed with each. the menu is quite extensive. great service. a great vibe for atmosphere. i call it polynesian gangsta, but very family friendly. new store in liberty is very anticipated and a larger facility. do yourself a favor and get there asap.

smh hawaiian?. my fiance and i have a soft spot for authentic home style food. the kind your grandma makes. i grew up listening to my friends begging their mothers for meatloaf nodding my head in empathy with a mouth full of grandmas fresh food. my fiance, who is from the birth of the mix plate, hawaii, spent several years in china feasting on a buffet of goodness. needless to say we don't just go out to eat, we hunt for our food, prey if you must.

i'm not sure where to start. deep sigh i'm going to go with the bad first. simply because i would be embarrassed to recommend this place to any other hawaiians or those who want real hawaiian food.

bad: describes themselves as a hawaiian restaurant. last i checked the category usually describes the type of food. slapping some surfboards on the walls and throwing in some siracha does not make the food hawaiian. it would have made me feel a bit better if an auntie was on the grill at least. no poke, no spam, no lau lau, no taro, no poi, no loco moko, no hawaiians. on which hawaiian island do they serve a menu like longboards and call it hawaiian food? just throwing it out there. it is a valid question.

needless to say i won't be taking my hawaiian, samoan, tongan in-laws to longboards ever. i'm not saying that their food is bad. i'm saying longboards should be ashamed at calling their food hawaiian.

good: decorum was cheesy but uniquely entertaining. it actually sets up false expectation for a real hawaiian menu. the hostess girl did an excellent job describing what the menu was when she saw our confused faces staring at the menu.

the wrap i had reminded me of a unique grilled chipotle burrito. i also tasted my boyfriends pork sliders - they were so delicious and flavorful! to top off the culinary experience the owner is super nice! great time at longboards. i can't wait to go back and try the rest of the unique entrees on the menu!

wonderful food and giant burritos. the size of the burritos makes chipotles look small

longboards isn't going to win any awards for fanciest or most romantic restaurant. but that's quite alright because there food is great and is a perfect lunch spot if you're north of the river. if you can't make it to hawaii soon, trek on up to gladstone and try longboards instead. if you close your eyes and have a good imagination, it's a pretty close second.

so good the 1st time i went back the next day!. yesterday i had the pork luau: pork, pepper jack cheese, pineapple, broccoli, peas, peppers, white rice and teriyaki sauce on a grilled to perfection honey wheat burrito style wrap. today i went back for the teriyaki grill: chicken (beef is another option), mozzarella, broccoli, peas, peppers, white rice and teriyaki sauce on a honey wheat burrito style wrap. the teriyaki sauce was sweet and lightly peppered, not sugary. the honey wheat wrap was toasty, not the least bit doughy or chewy, and filled with tasty goodness from end to end. i'm a real light weight and pretty finicky when it comes to eating, but i happily polished off my wrap in no time and momentarily contemplated licking the wrapper it came in.

as for the staff, they're wonderful. everyone is friendly and happy to answer any questions you might have about the menu. i've only been there during lunch hour, but even at their busiest time everyone (including the customers) was super nice. obviously the wait is going to be a little longer than at a fast food chain, but the food, value and overall experience is worth it. the only drawback is deciding what to try.

by the way, besides grilled wraps they have "cool" deli style wraps, options for vegetarians, smaller wraps for kids, hot noodle bowls, salads, and some very good house made sides.

no hype.. previous reviewers are not exaggerating. this place is amazing. not being a huge fan of wraps for so many reasons--primarily that they tend to be soggy wads of mess a few bites in and require a fork to eat--i was slightly apprehensive but we had dinner there last night and if hubby suggests we go back tonight i'll be there. food was fresh, saucing was perfect and hawaiian shaved ice was heavenly on the 98 degree day. and let's discuss the service/employees...a dream. friendly and helpful. they come out to greet you and take your order, answer questions and patiently await your decision. i've never been to such a packed restaurant where the vibe is so calm; everyone's working or waiting purposefully but with a zen like calm. love it.
