newly opened & very promising. there's no doubt that we love m&t and were going to try out local three as soon as they opened. saturday night, almost exactly 2 weeks open, and they were packed. the space itself is substantially changed from the "joel" restaurant space... much bigger bar, smaller seating area essentially surrounding the bar... much more casual... much darker... way more energy (and noise) than joel ever had. all in all a nice high-energy but cozy atmosphere.
for food we started with duck confit quesadilla's and oven roasted mushrooms over polenta. the mushrooms were the clear winner, extremely rich and tasty. for mains, i had braised rabbit and dumplings that was a great warm comfort-food type meal... with the broth having just a little sweet influence. my wife had the chicken pot pie which she gave high marks, though i thought it was a little lite on seasoning. for desert, we shared the warm apple pie and the warm chocolate pudding cake, both winners.
all in all the food was great, as expected, even only 2 weeks in. service is still figuring out a few things, but that's to be expected at this point and i'm sure it'll get straightened out sooner than later.
i would suggest making reservations because the place seems to be getting popular very fast.

i’ve had the great pleasure of sampling the culinary delights at local three twice in the last couple of weeks, once as a sneak preview and then again on monday night for dinner
