disappointing. i ate at local three with a group for lunch. one of the group suggested the restaurant and said she loved it and had eaten there many times. my last experience was about a year ago and was disappointing but i thought maybe things had improved. i ordered the mixed salad with shrimp. the others ordered salads as well, one with crab meat and beets, one with steak and one with grilled chicken.

all four salads were expensive and not one was good. the steak was rare but we were in a hurry so my friend would not send it back, the chicken salad had no dressing, the crab salad had about a teaspoon of lump crab and some awkwardly placed beet cubes. mine was the worst though, the shrimp were tiny and seemed like the refrigerated, not-fresh kind and were coated with a very unappealing white glaze. the salad was just a big pile of mixed greens with a little bacon crumpled on top and no dressing (unless you count the white glaze).

on a positive note, our server was nice enough and did offer to send the steakbackas she noted it was very rare. we also split the liver pate appetizer which was very tasty and a generous portion.

overall though, i doubt i'll be visiting again anytime soon...

pretty busy for a tuesday evening, but got a seat at the bar and looked over the menu. i know atlanta has a lot of choices for steak, so i decided on the hangar steak. this was probably one of the best i've had in a long time. medium rare just the way the chef likes too; always a plus. friendly bartenders and may gobackfor their sunday brunch. great bourbon, and whiskey selections also.

when we saw that they were opening a new restaurant with chef chris hall, local three kitchen & bar, we got excited.  they took over the old jo-el space off paces ferry. our first visit was for dinner. very open space with a fairly lively bar scene.  for dinner that night, i had pork tenderloin with spaetzle (kind of an egg noodle) with chard and vanilla pears.  the pork and pear combination was awesome – when peter brady’s spoke of “pork chops and applesauce” he was onto a hot culinary creation.  jo had the chicken pot pie, which was quite tasty and this cream of celery soup that she talks about to this day.  a good bit. for dessert, a banana creme brulee with banana bread. very good. about two weeks later we went for brunch, for the first time.   for an ode to that formerly fabulous experience, look to the bottom of the review.  we had beenbackfor both lunch a

local three is an experience you will not want to miss!! make sure you go hungry and are ready to be welcomed by everyone from the hostess, to your waiter/waitress, to the chefs. you can't possibly try everything in one visit, so make sure you pace yourself and gobackfor seconds or thirds throughout the month. this was my first time in atlanta, and it was the only thing to do on our list with what little time i had in the city. local three is truly a destination you should travel from anywhere to see.

some special thank yous; we ate at the chef's table - inside the kitchen - and it was a memory i will cherish for a lifetime. to chef angela, for making such amazing personal dishes - you are an artist in the kitchen. this was the most amazing experience, and it was so inspiring to literally watch you work, present your dishes, and see your dreams come true; thank you. to our amazing waitress katie, you are a food extraordinaire and made the whole experience a wild ride. you paired our drinks so well with our food, you made sure we were welcomed and honestly treated like royalty - new forks for every dish ... is this how the rich live? you were fun, caring, and it was so exciting to have as our hostess for the night; thank you! to the rest of the local three team! every single team member we met was over the top outstanding - you were all a really cool bunch to be around and it was an honor to experience the family that is inside your kitchen. jimmy the gm, you perfectly put into words how the local three team operates the philosophy of the founders - i wish we could have met them! i won't spoil it for the newcomers ... make sure you ask the team when you go there what three legs the restaurant stands on. one of our servers, patrick, thanks for the southern hospitality! to our assistant server, nacho, the water was amazing, i'll bebackfor more! sous chef bj, thank you for the coolest house-made pasta ever! chef carter, thanks for the flame grilled steak - best steak i've ever had. chef hannah, thank you for the coconut rice - yum! pastry chef kareem, watching you make that caramel popcorn from start to finish was a real treat! this team is what brings the whole operation to life inside and outside of the kitchen.

everything we ate would literally melt-in-your-mouth. the salad was amazing. the grits were out of this world - i've always avoided grits because it looks like mush in a box, so i'm glad this was my first time - really set the bar high! brussels sprouts were crisped perfectly and really wowed me with the cider reduction. you could tell the pasta was house-made, and it was to-die-for, make sure you leave room for the garlic bread! i've never had such amazing steak that was both tender, juicy, and grilled to perfection - and paired with the best cheesy mashed potatoes you'll ever experience. the caramel popcorn was really simple and sweet - and not too gummy like the caramel popcorn you buy at walmart - it was crispy and savory like a nice crust. and finally, the tasty wine and cheese to top it off - cheddar cheese smoked with espresso - yes, please.

go to local three in atlanta, georgia - travel from wherever you live, and just go. you will not be disappointed, and you will not want to leave.

disappointed. the first time that i went to local 3 in june 2013 i fell in love with it, raved about it to all of my friends and looked forward to returning, but knowing it would be a special occasion due to the pricey nature of the menu. after waiting a year & building this place up to everyone around me, including my boyfriend who did not get to eat the last time we went i returned to be incredibly disappointed. the menu was not as diverse as it was a year ago and did not have many 'eye popping' selections. we decided to start the night w/ the meat & cheese plates, we had to order both @ $18 per plate because there was not an option for a mix and match meat & cheese plate. we were very satisfied w/ the meat plate but the cheese plate left a lot to be desired. 4 miniature sized pieces of cheese that we were able to carefully slice to each get a very small bite to taste. a huge let down as we have had meat & cheese plates from restaurants all over atlanta. the truffled flat top mac-n-cheese was dry & tasted like box shells and cheese that had been broiled and then the pork shoulder was an over cooked boneless pork chop that was incredibly dry. we didn't even stay for dessert after it was all said and done. we were incredibly disappointed in the food & the value. we sat at the bar & can say that the drinks were wonderful & the staff was pretty good. at this point it would be hard for either of us to want to gobackto this restaurant, especially with the stiff competition that they have in the atlanta area!

3 failed steak attempts. went here for valentines dinner with my girlfriend. everything was pretty good except the fact that my girlfriend ordered a medium rare steak and it took 3 times to cook it right. the first time it was medium-medium well, just slightly pink. we sent it back, no problem. the second one comes, still medium, not close to medium rare at all. at this point, my girlfriend just didn't really care to eat a steak anymore, she went to the bathroom and i got the manager. i explained how its valentines night and we are paying 60$/person for the fixed price menu and all, and i was already done with my meal (lobster risotto- very good). he said he was going to take her meal off of the tab, so 60$ off, and make another steak. it took a good 15 minutes for it to come, way too long for a medium rare steak on the fly. the manager was nice and apologetic, but it shouldn't take 3 attempts to make a medium rare steak, plus they put it to go and when we got home we saw it was rare. dang, they do not know how to cook a steak here!! i wouldn't gobackhere because of this, otherwise, the food was good, but there's much, much better places to go in atlanta.

decent food...incredibly awful empathy. me: open table vip. eat out 6 times (lunch/dinner) per week.
guest: open table vip. eats out 8 times (lunch/dinner) per week.

we arrived at 6:30 and sit at the bar. order a glass of wine and all is good. order meat/cheese plate. 6:45: bartender asks us to move because he has a party coming in sitting at the bar. we're nice guys...we offer to sit at a table in the house. he thanks us.

6:50: we (politely) walk to host station and explain we've been booted from the bar. we ask to be seated in the normal dining area. we are told in an extremely rude manner that they are full that night, despite the fact that only 3-4 tables are full out of 25 or 30. they offer to seat us outside. we originally ask to sit inside, but know we're doing nothing to forward our cause and agree to an outside table. the weather is awesome and the food is generally good (the brussel sprouts are awesome!). service is great.

after the meal and the $100+ check, i ask for a manager to give feedback. ruby shows up. listens to my dissatisfaction with fake empathy as i tell her we were displaced twice and no one gave a darn about our being displaced with even a trace of concern...nothing) and shuffles away. my co-worker was at the bar after my waste of time conversation with my dear friend ruby. he points out that 45 minutes later, the bar we were booted from is 33% full with no-one sitting at our party table section of the bar. then we look at the house seating and count 4 tables open. ruby is blankly staring at us and the house when we point this out. it takes her ten seconds to track with our thoughts and then she gives phase 2 of her insincere apology.

we leave. never to step footbackin the place that i've been to a dozen times over the past 4-5 months.

a good restaurant makes you feel like you're visiting them in their home. we didn't even feel welcome in their garage. absolutely and awfully incredible.

local three is one of my new favorites in atlanta. cal and i had a delicious celebratory dinner there a couple of months ago. since then i've heard great things about their brunch from others and i am excited to gobackagain for lunch, brunch or dinner as the menu has changed dramatically since our visit. i'd also love to sit on the patio when it cools down again, a really nice atmosphere out there. inside is great too, with cute photos of pigs and elivs memorabilia throughout. our server was on point, as were the busboys who tended to our water needs nonstop. highlights of dinner included the lamb sandwich, the razor clams and the dessert. if you haven't been here, go soon. popcorn tossed with truffle oil. razor clams - evening special. menu - the current on is quite different. view it here . pork with brussels sprouts and onions. lobster pasta. key lime pie taste and boston creme pie. sign out front. you could easily miss this place if you aren't familiar with the are

local three is the place for me. i'mbackfrom my fourth visit and have to say that local three just keeps getting better and better. the wines-by-the-glass are some of the best offered in the city and at price points that make it easy to order another (or three). the new spring menu's lobster spaghettini is the best thing i've put in my mouth in a month. and don't miss the banana creme brulee (served with fresh banana and banana bread.) the combination is a textural dream that's hard to describe.

amazing!. this is my new favorite restaurant and i've only been for lunch... i can only imagine how good the dinner must be. i've been wanting to go to this place for a little over a month now and had several near visits, but something always came up. today i finally got to go.
reading numerous articles about this restaurant helped me find it easily (at the end of the restroom hallway in the lobby). it was just like they said with numerous paintings of 'the dude' and elvis amongst others of artistic renderings of pigs. i felt like i had been here before, but in a dream. the real thing was so much better.
as for my lunch, i had the gunga galunga (lamb sandwich) with the housemade fries. the sandwich came with lamb, cucumber slaw and feta on a sesame seedless bun and was one of the best sandwiches i've ever had and the fries were delicious as well.
my mother had the pan seared georgia mountain trout with the roasted brussels sprouts. the brussels sprouts were by far the greatest i have ever tasted and i hate brussels sprouts other than my grandmother's (which these blew hers out of the water... i won't be telling her that though). the trout was really good as well and cooked perfectly, but the brussels sprouts were the highlight of the dish in my opinion, and that's not a bad thing.
to finish it all off we split the banana crème brûlée (which i don't see on their online menu, so i'm thinking it's new)... holy hell was it good! it's not your typical crème brûlée with a near rock hard shell and custard inside that doesn't move. the shell on this was barely there and once you took a spoonful out of it the insides actually moved, but wasn't runny at all. to make this even better they topped the dessert off with a piece of sticky bread and a slice of banana. simply amazing!
i'll be goingbackto local three as often as i possibly can and can't wait to try out the dinner menu as well as their brunch.

good food, good prices. went there for valentine's day weekend. the food was wonderful; my friend and i were both members of the "clean plate club." *grin* enjoyed the food and the service so much i wentbackfor brunch the next day!! all you can eat brunch for $20 is a great price, but what really impressed me was how good the food was. almost everything was being freshly prepared at all times and the chance to walk through the kitchen was actually a charming touch. kind of like being behind the scenes.

we had dropped some family off at the airport on a sunday afternoon and were headingbackthrough town when we stopped at local three kitchen & bar for their brunch. local three is located on northside drive within a very nice set of office buildings and if not for the breadcrumb-like signs it's doubtful we would have ever found this gem of a restaurant regardless of being at the address. fortunately, someone's utter genius realized that without additional signage we could not have found our way but their
