chris hall is alive and doing very well. i have been a big fan of his since we first met many years ago. not because of his food but of his personality, and humbleness. he has truly found his home at local three in buckhead on northside drive. they have taken over the building which housed joel's. we went on a tuesday night because we were also going to the fox to see wicked. i surprised my wife with both tickets and dinner at local three. we started out with roasted brussels sprouts that were finished in duck butter, quite tasty indeed. the app my wife choose was the oven roasted mushrooms with cream polenta and truffle jus, oh my were they delicious and the polenta creamy with just the right amount of truffle. i had the crispy fried cornmeal crusted oysters. great start right there then chef hall put them over a bed of logan turnpike grits with arugula, it was awesome! for an entree my wife can't pass up chicken livers so she had the pan fried chicken livers with bacon, gala apples, swiss chard and sherry jus. the chicken liver elevated to new heights. never would one expect the mere liver to reign this gloriously but it did, @ chef chris hall they rocked. i had the pan seared diver scallops with squash, spinach and apple salad "lightly" en robed with maple bacon dressing. perfectly seared diver scallops are very tricky to cook because they go from under done to burnt in 1..65987 seconds. these were perfect. a few other items we considered were the notorious p.i.g a charcuterie sampler of pig (sausage, goat sausage, finocchiona (a type of tuscan salami with fennel seed). the new fall menu just debuted and it is delightful to read and better to taste. ladies and gentlemen please do your selves a big favor make reservations now because when talking to chef chris hall they are filling up fast for the holidays. local three is an easy 20 min ride to the fox, so if going to the fox stay away from the long lines and dine at local three.
we are proud to award local three and chef chris hall and his staff a 4.95 out of 5 wine glass salute. well done chef.
