pleasant sandwiches and nice patio. lindley park filling station is a small venue on the corner of walker and elam that serves a variety of sandwiches, burgers, dogs, salads, wraps, and of course, beers. in fact, i personally think lpfs is the most enjoyable neighborhood bar in the four corners area. with a spaciouspatiothat seats more than their inside seating, this is where i'd recommend going for a beer and a bite on a nice warm summer day.

lpfs will probably not pique your curiosity with unusual combinations of ingredients, but i think you'll enjoy their applications anyway. for example, the ridgeway ($9.50) is a sandwich containing a half a chicken a breast, bacon, roasted red peppers, sprouts, cheddar, and pesto aioli on wheat bread. not an interestingly original combination, but nonetheless a tasty sandwich (which comes with a side, too). actually, the tastiest food i've had from lpfs was the sylvan road ($9.50), a blackened bleu cheese burger with chow chow. to me, they outdid the burger specialists across the street. i also enjoyed their walker avenue ($4.25), a plump sausage with mustard and a side.

downsides of lpfs are the fairly limited parking, with about four or five spaces in the lot, and somewhat cramped seating if you prefer to eat inside (although the decor is to my liking). overall, though, i think lpfs is worth a visit.

lindley park filling station is truly a laid back, fun place to grab a burger and a pint.  we sat outside on thepatioon a monday evening, and it was surprisingly not crowded.  the awnings, shade trees, and walls gave the outdoor dining space a nice intimate feel, very different than the open sidewalk-adjacent feeling of emma key's across the street.  they also had an open mike night, featuring a gentleman playing the guitar.  restaurant patrons were encouraged to participate as well which i thought was a really fun idea - they had a guitar, microphone, and bongo drums you could use to further that endeavor.

as far as the food goes, there is little i would change.  their pickles were some of the best i have ever had, and my burger had a good taste and consistency (not too tough or too greasy).  they also had a good beer selection on tap as well as in bottles.  i think at the end of the day, i would give the nod to emma key's for having a more flavorful burger, but i prefer the atmosphere at lpfs.  lpfs also has a wider array of other items on the menu than emma key's does, so it is the more versatile choice between the two for non-burger lovers.

between lpfs, emma key's, hops burger bar, and big burger spot, greensboro is really developing a solid list of craft burger joints.

favorite walker/elam spot. we've been a couple of times and have sat on thepatioboth times. on our first visit, which was a saturday night, thepatiowas full but we decided to wait for a table. a couple sitting at a table near where we were standing graciously asked if we'd like to join them since they were about done anyway. since this restaurant is in a quaint, casual area near uncg, don't be surprised if random strangers offer nice gestures like that. as it turns out, we had such a good time hanging out; they stayed through our meal with us.

our second visit was for a sunday brunch.

food: is very, very good. the choices are extensive with a variety of appetizer, salad, burger, wrap and sandwich choices. all selections are upscale versions and large portions. i can vouch for the pinecrest burger, the ridgeway sammy, and the halliday and longview salads. the halliday with fried oysters and tomato horseradish dressing was the bomb. lindley makes all their own salad dressings and both the caper and basil dressings are awesome.

i'm also impressed with a quality selection of local and microbrews. on my evening trip, i enjoyed a brooklyn brewery ipa on tap which i hadn't seen locally. they also have a full bar for additional choices.

service: i've read other reviews where the service was both slow and impolite. on my two visits, i didn't experience either of those issues. the meals are made to order (including handmade burger patties) so i could see a times when a slower turnaround might be experienced but i can live with that. all the servers were very cordial and friendly and were hustling on both visits.

value: is decently competitive. prices generally range from $8 to $12 but portions are large and quality ingredients used. beer specials are nice too. no complaints.

atmosphere: definitely a plus. the indoor seating is nice though a bit tight while the outdoorpatiois wonderful.

food: 8/10; service: 8/10; value 7/10; atmosphere: 8/10

nice stop in for lunch!. i had this place on my wishlist and finally had a chance to stop in with my fiance yesterday (a sunday). upon parking, i noticed that this place could be a bit troublesome for space, and not just in the small parking lot. the inside is cramped and provides limited seating, however there are two outside patios with plenty of tables and space. we opted to eat outside as it was a fairly nice day and packed on the inside.
service was quick and attentive, and we ordered easily, though after the fact we noticed that there is a sunday brunch menu on the back, serving from 11-3.
starting off with a fried green tomato appetizer with pimento cheese and ranch dipping sauce, i immediately knew that my lunch would be fantastic. our waiter even brought us crackers to munch on with our remaining pimento.
i ordered the tremont--a sandwich with shredded smoked ham or turkey (i opted for turkey), honey mustard, brie and lettuce on a baguette with a side of potato salad. my fiance ordered the berkshire--an angus meatloaf, provolone, mushroom, onions and chipotle ketchup wrap with a side of tatter tots. we greatly enjoyed the unique flavors of our dishes, and finished our meals quite satisfied.
there were several other wraps and sandwiches i would love to try on my next visit. also, we were too full to sample the dessert menu which looked very interesting.
the only con about our experience, which does not reflect on the establishment itself, was a very testy party of people on thepatiobelow us giving the wait staff a hard time about how their bills and beers were split up between multiple checks. the wait staff was irritated, and we could only empathize. all the same, the wait staff was fantastic with us, even striking up friendly conversation.

my take:
price: 5/5 (less than $30 for an appetizer, drinks, two entrees with sides)
taste: 5/5 (unique and scrumptious)
atmosphere: 4/5 (as we were outside and the inside crowed..)
service: 5/5 (attentive and friendly)
overall: 19/20
