leonardo italian mediterranean dining

its like a long lost review...
i had been to this place a really long time ago... but the memory and taste remains...
after my friend had finished with her ca exams we wanted to try a new place to celebrate her freedom... and we chose this place to give it try...
i just love the place as to hows its done with all the italian look... and the feel of the place is really nice...
we ordered their signature dish quiche and lasagne which was wonderful by looks and taste trust me..... it couldnt get cheesy than this.. it was melting with cheese yummy at every bite... for myself i ordered apizzaverdure was very crispy..
well we couldnt order anything more as we were stuffed with these three dishes i couldnt even finish mine...
the thing of this place is that just one dish will easily suffice one...
the quantity is good...
but for desserts we did save ourselves some place...
we had tiramisu for us... it was really nice and how a perfect tiramisu should be...
pricing was definitely worth the quantity...
staff was very friendly and mannered..

we(two couple) visit this place today for my brother birthday, all of us was very disappointed with food. we return tomato and vegetable shop  just after tasting , i don't have word for that taste, but it was very bed, we don't eat pasta because it was below average. nachos andpizzawas ok but not as per expected for this type of costly restaurant, dessert was very good, we was four person and we order unlimited meal, as per rules we have to select one of 3 item, but waiter force us to select 1 for all 4, this was very disappointing as my brother love garlic bread and i want to select nachos, but waiter tell me you 4 have to select any one dish, this is only rules,  we don't like taste of pasta too, so we ask can you please give us another flower for this, but they refused, i can give full credit to  manager who come in and provide alternative for pizza, but for rest of dish we suffer lots, they was taking too much time for serve(as it was unlimited), and that why we refuse to order more,

thanks for wasting my brother birthday, i planned this before 1 month and my wife laugh on me for selecting this place.

excellent choice for italian food in surat ... very authentic and tasty food ... pastas were good andpizzaalso was awesome ... tiramisu was superb ... would definitely visit again ....

so i celebrated my birthday tonite at leonardo piplod. its an excellent restaurant with very good italian food. we had aglio olio pasta, god fatherpizzaand tacos which were all very nicely prepared. it was a cool breezy evening with bonfire on the side. they also gave complimentary baklava as it was my birthday. vishwajeet was our server and he took excellent care of all of us.

i added a topping . got charged for it and it wasn’t there on mypizza.

i ordered aglio olio garlic bread and margaritapizzawhich was really horrible, it wasn't ever edible. total waste of money

great place... especially for a quite lunch know week day... no wait time no hush hush. loved the good.... triedpizzaand it delivered to its expectations.... nachos with cheese sauce was wow and tasted yum with home made salsa... thanks to team who. just went out of the way to manage sizzler on special request.... the italian sizzler was made to order. special mention of courteous staff. a service with big smile and absolutely guest friendly. a never say no attitude reflects in their actions... keep up great work folks.... want to visit once during peak hours....will be back soon...

on a regular day, i'm sure the ambience is really pleasant. but when we went, a large group had a booking so it was bustling with kids shouting and moving around.
the best dish of the night for us was risotto milanese. it's a must try!
the roasted bell pepper soup was also really good! a nice change of pace from the usual tomato or minestrone soups.
the leonardo signature exotic (something like that)pizzawas...meh. it was good but not great. i've had better pizzas to be honest.
and the last... the rosemary potato pepperoncino... ugh. bland! no taste. i was really disappointed by the server who did not warn us about the blandness of this dish. the menu days "rosemary flavoured" - it's not. the menu says "sauted with garlic" - the garlic was all burnt!
all in all,
2 great dishes, 1 average dish, and 1 bad dish.

it was a lovely day,
my girlfriend and i didn’t fight, we went for a long drive and spoke about how much we love food and specially italian cuisine, without thinking about anything else i decided to take her to leonardo, a “fine” italian restaurant, she was really happy with the idea that i really took care of thing she craved the 2nd most ;), so i gave her the menu to order and i was looking into her eyes and was lost into the abyss as i always loved her choices as i was one of them, she orders two portions of spaghetti zuchinni, nachos, garlic bread, mediterraneanpizzaand ofcourse arabitta pasta, we patiently waited for the food to come and spoke about how we wish to visit italy some day, everything was perfect but when the food came and we had the first bite of that spaghetti, there was an awkward silence like it was an realisation period of how big of an mistake i did to bring her to this restaurant to eat, nachos tasted like fresh......off the cornitos packet, her mood was pathetic that she looked at me and questioned me about my choices and as i was angry with the food too, i replied “don’t question my choices, you are one of them and luckily you aren’t as pathetic as the food at least you are bearable”, she was shocked and she got up without saying anything and she walked away, that was the last time i saw her

the ambiance of the retaurant was nice. we ordered farmer pizza, potato wedges and tex -mex qusadilla. thepizzawas terrible and tasted bitter; worstpizzai have had. the rest of the food we ordered was good. i was alao disappointed when i received my bill as they had charged a service tax of 2% apart from gst. when i pointed out this extra charge, they then deducted the service tax.

we used to love this restaurant but unfortunately experience today has put us off. we didn’t appreciate that we had to pay for mineral water since they have stopped serving regular water, very unlike restaurants in surat. we had ordered two soups; roasted bell pepper soup was too salty, we informed the server but there was no action taken. we asked them to make sure to check the salt level for other food but next food items were equally high in salt. rosemary potatoes were deep fried instead of roasted as promised. even thepizzawas quite salty. we were charged double the mrp for cans of coca cola, legally that’s not allowed. the manager came to our table at the end of the dinner and we did mention all the issues, he tried to make it ok with serving us a penna cotta dessert on the house.

we won’t be visiting it any more.

this restaurant is rated very highly for delicious italian vegetarian cuisine.

i was going in a large group so i had spoken to the manager to create a set menu which would ease the confusion to order & speed up the process.

however, their service was the extreme opposite of quick. plus when u are doing a tasting menu, you expect each person to receive an individual dish for each food item on the menu. they went around the table serving from a plate & giving guests spoonfuls. also each course took soo long to come from the kitchen to the table. the server took the drinks order and he himself went to make it at the bar. they didn't even have a bartender. what's more is that the rest of the servers did not know about the set meal & gave a blank look every time we asked for something.

despite the service, the food was good. especially the garlic cheese bread which was made on apizzadough based & their signature leonardo pizza. the broccoli soup was tasty although it did not require breadcrumbs, the paneer on ratatouille was also good, although they served a single big piece of paneer where each guest got only a small morsel.

to end the meal, the hazelnut chocolate mouse was also delightful served with vanilla iceccream asand a great dessert to sample at the restaurant.

if service is not a priority at a restaurant for a meal, then leonardo is a place you can visit. i would not select their option of a set menu and would order a la carte the next time around.

went there with my wife on her birthday with her friends.. interesting all white interiors..... started with mocktails.. which were okay... rosemary spiced potates..rosemary had finished in the kitchen but still ordered it and had a go.. followed it up with somepizzaand ended the meal with their special tiramisu....!! had a nice evening with family and friends
