petit dejeuner serves up belgian-canadian comfort food with their fabulous light and fluffy waffles. i got the breakfast crepes , $12, filled with three cheeses, peameal bacon, two scrambledeggsand potatoes. it wasn't a very visually appealing filling but it was scrumptious. almost all the meals are served with a side of their famous apple slaw, sweet and tangy, topped with their house creamy dressing and pickles.

the menu at lpd is quite simple but the variations are extensive.eggscan be ordered almost any way you like - scrambled, poached, fried, omelet style oreggsbenny and served with such sides as apple coleslaw, potato rosti, toast and/or fruit. for the crêpe lovers, they have both sweet (jam and butter) to salty crêpes filled with cheese, peameal bacon and/or ham. those with a sweet tooth will definitely enjoy their authentic brussels' style waffles drizzled with different flavours of organic maple syrup and chantilly cream. vegetarian options are also available.

now that was a breakfast!. my wife and i visited toronto this past weekend, and based on some internet research we decided to try le petite dejeuner for breakfast. all i can say is that it was one of the best breakfast experiences we have ever had!

first of all, the woman who was our server was extremely pleasant, and when she found out it was our first time at this restaurant she filled us in on the best dishes, and boy was she right!

we had the french toast, which was unreal! the bread is baked fresh, and we were told that they have no toasters in the restaurant, everything is toasted on a grill, which added to the experience. and the syrup was unbelievable as well, true maple syrup, not some store bought bottle.

we also ordered aneggsbenny, which was reeeeeally good. and for both dishes, the presentation was exceptional.

this meal was one of the highlights of the trip, and i would recommend le petite dejeuner (especially the home-made french toast!) to anyone looking for a great breakfast!

my friend and i stumbled upon this gem when going out for breakfast. i remembered seeing it a few days before and was super intrigued to go in and give it a try. when we got in we were immediately seated (given it was 10am on a tuesday) and given our beverages. i decided to give their western omelet a try and my friend went for theeggsbenedict with bacon (obviously). our food only took maybe 15-20 minutes to arrive and it was phenomenal. they served both dishes with a side of apple slaw and a mini rosti which were both to die for. the omelet was perfectly cooked and the ham seasoned to my liking. my friend says they had the best hollandaise sauce she's ever had making theireggsbenedict the best she's ever had. definitely coming back here again!

arrived around 10am this morning after seeing the positive reviews on urbanspoon. had to wait 10 mins outside and then another 10 mins in the vestibule before we were seated. friendly and quick service. the green glitter vinyl seats were an interesting surprise :) i had the brussels melody and it was delicious. the waffle was light and flaky and the strip bacon was thick and wonderfully cooked. my partner has theeggsbenjamin. i had a taste it was fantastic - the salmon was so smoky and the hollaindaise was quite lemony. will definitely return again!

you had me at benny. after a slow start, needing to return my coffee because of floaties and taste theeggsbenedict arrived. are you ready? forget the coffee experience the breakfast of champions blew my mind plus took my breath away. i have travelled the world searching for the best benny and it is right here in my own backyard. my recommendation bring your own brew and leave the benny up to this fine establishment.

the menu has a lot of choices even a section dedicated to benny and friends, but i knew i couldn’t pass up the special of the day –eggsbenny with boneless baby back ribs. and just like that me and my tummy made a new friend. the ribs were tender and smothered in sauce. i hope that the restaurant makes this a regular benny. it was that good.

when rachel invited me out to the sunday antique market, i immediately followed that up with an invite to sunday brunch just around the corner at le petit dejeuner. one of my favourite brunch spots in the city, it’s a small and cozy establishment that focuses on providing belgian canadian comfort food.

there’s usually a line outside, but on this sunday were lucky and we managed to snag a two seater just in front of their bar.

he menu has a lot of choices even a section dedicated to benny and friends, but i knew i couldn’t pass up the special of the day –eggsbenny with boneless baby back ribs.

and just like that me and my tummy made a new friend. the ribs were tender and smothered in sauce. i hope that the restaurant makes this a regular benny. it was that good.

rachel decided the day called for sweet and went with their authentic belgian waffles with strawberries.

now i don’t know what makes a waffle authentically belgian (is it the deep pockets? does a belgian person have to make them?) all i know is that this was delicious and had everything you would need on a waffle – fresh strawberries and lots and lots of whipped cream.

dear petit dejeuner,

thank you for always taking care of us.
can’t wait to darken your door again!

here’s to more tender ribs, delicious waffles,
and lots and lots whipped cream.

yours,
brunchosaurus

ps. don’t worry! we didn’t forget the bacon!

maybe we should have had waffles.... because everything else was not good!! i hadeggsbenedict and my boyfriend had crepe. we waited outside in line for so long, at first i thought this meant that the food must be amazing but then i noticed that people who were sitting next to the window were still waiting for their food. i mean literally no one was coming out of the place and it looked like no one was being served. our food came out pretty fast but there was nothing special about it. the place is overpriced and not a french bistro at all. there was today's music of the radio playing which did not suit the place at all. the staff was not the nicest. overall, it did not make any sense to us in terms of food and the atmosphere. maybe we should have tried their waffles cause that is probably the only good thing on the menu.

over rated.eggsbenny under seasoned and ridiculously over priced. the smoked salmon omlet was too salty. portions are small, the hash browns taste like nothing. don't recommend the place!

not worth the wait, the price or the hype!. if you want to be ripped off, and told off for the owner for complaining about food quality, this is the place to come. the not-so-friendly owner was a complete ass and would not take an order of toast off the bill that was disgusting... a $2 item. seriously egos are too big at this place and the food was blah. omlette and rosti were cold and terrible, eggsbenny were just ok... and the prices are a rip for what you get... lots of better choices!

amazing brunch. i had theeggsflorentine and a mimosa, my friends had the egg benjamin and the hungry gal (fish cakes) with orange juice. we all loved our meals, from the portion to the taste. loved loved loved the finely shredded potato rosti and apple coleslaw. theeggswere perfectly poached and the english muffins were buttered just right.

be prepared to wait some time to get your table, and make sure all members of the party are there.

after a painful two years of putting off going to pd simply because i didn't want to wait in line for two hours... i finally sucked it up and decided to go broke or go home. turns out that on this particular sunday the lineup was only about 25 minutes. so far, so good... i knew right away what i was going in for- the waffles benny. i love waffles, but i also feel that it is my civic duty to try some sort ofeggsbenedict at every brunch spot i go ( you see i am in search for the perfect benny... still haven't found it). my dish was really good... the waffles were light as air and so incredibly crisp and my egg was cooked to perfection, made even better sandwiched between a delicious lemony hollandaise and crispy peameal. my dates' dish (a 3 cheese omelette) was full of flavour and super cheesy - and definitely cooked right ( i hate when omelettes are dry or rubbery). i will be returning to try the apple pancakes, the eggy bread or the croque monsier.
