you only get one chance to make a first impression. took my wife there for her birthday. ambiance great, salad great, pasta dish dry and missing ingredients, creme brûlée tasty but pasty, wine excellent, service excellent. but, since restaurants are about food i'll take my $200 elsewhere in the future.

nice dinner out!. my husband and i had an expected friday night (jan 10, 2014) away from our kids, which happens so rarely. we decided to head over to la roma.

food and service was awesome. we started with the calamari, which was melt in your mouth, tender, not rubbery at all. i had the tagliatelle alla pavarotti, which was delicious. seafood tasted fresh, not too salty, and was cooked perfectly. my husband had the salmon, and was over the moon. it was cooked just right. he is often disappointed because a lot of places over cook salmon. well, not here.

we finished off with the chocolate torte, which was death by chocolate. so good! chocolate was rich and deep, the way it should be.

i also enjoyed the waiter who insisted i add more and more parmesan to my meal, loved that! a lot of places are skimpy with the cheese. also, thank you very much to the waitress who noticed that i forgot my left overs, and chased me out the door to get them to me. i was very happy to eat the rest for lunch today.

thanks for making our first child-free night in a very long time so very memorable. we plan to come back.

what a disappointment! a special dinner with family was marred by poor, clumsy service and the food was very expensive and absolutely sub-par. opening app of zucchini was passable but without a hint of seasoning, caesar salad ($11!) was soggy & wilted, and the pasta dishes were very lightly sauced, gummy and one dish of pene primavera had to be sent back! with drinks and tip almost $145. totally unacceptable for a venerable establishment once known for authentic, well prepared meals! i won't be returning. luckily the company was better than the food experience. mama teresa's was the other option that night ... should have gone there ...

consistently satisfied. la roma is the one of the few restaurants that i love to return to for the food and the staff. i am obsessed with their salmon and any veal dish. everything is so fresh and homemade that you can't go wrong. it is like its my aunt cooking in the kitchen with a cool, relaxed atmosphere. this picture was when i had the special which featured their homemade wild boar sausage with wild mushroom risotto. i am still thinking about it. i loved it since i was comfortable with the risotto but eager to try something new with the wild boar. best italian restaurant by far!

what a terrible experience!. walked in this restaurant for dinner with friends. spent a long time waiting for our food which were just pastes( in my point of view, paste is one of the easiest food to cook) and i have to say the food is really not worth for the price. i'd rather go to kfc instead of. i am very disappointing and not recommend this restaurant :-((((

never return for second time. definitely the one i will never return for a second time. first, their mussel smelled like rotted meat even if they covered a whole lot of tomato sauce. on top of that it took them 45mins to make us a uncooked spaghetti, with the server telling us it's mean to be like this. the pasta is not tasty at all that we could barely finish. and the service is very disappointing, i had my server spilled the cheese of over my pants without a single apology. i felt like this was the worst decision i've ever made, and a taste of my time and money.

bad birthday. came here the other night for my sister's birthday. not only was the food awful, the service somehow managed to be worse; very unfriendly and uncompromising. on top of that, here was a $3 service charge per person on the cake cutting, which is annoying but not a big deal. after asking the waiter to put everyone's charge on my bill, i found out he charged me for everyone and charged everyone else the $3. so we ended up paying the cake cutting fee twice. if that wasn't bad enough, he also charged me an extra $110 for service of a large party. never coming back here again.

not gluten-free friendly. i came here b/c it fell under the gluten-free friendly places in little italy and it had pretty good reviews. well, our server didn't even know what gluten was, so it was a little challenging trying to order safely. i felt i was a burden asking all those questions that celiacs need to know before we can safely eat out-- the server was not forthcoming of information due to her lack of knowledge, but did know enough to ask the kitchen. in the end, i was not even provided a gluten free dinner, as i had a reaction next morning. this makes me very angry. i would have up and left before ordering, however, we were with other people that don't have food issues. there were not very many choices on the menu for one that is also dairy free. my husband's meal was an ok meal, but nothing to write home about. the price was up there as well. it might be a great spot for people who do not have dietary restrictions but i would not recommend it for those who are gluten and/or dairy free. i would take this place off the gluten free friendly list.

meh. la roma was a little disappointing! we had a table of 6 on a saturday night, so yes it was busy but it took forever for our food to come out, at least 45 mins for simple pasta dishes. i got the tagliatelle alla pavarotti, and it was pretty bad. for $18 i expected more. the dish was way way to salty, barely any mushrooms and the salmon tasted like lumps of salt. everyone else at the table agreed their dishes were too heavy on the salt. my advice: if you want to eat a nice dinner in little italy don't go here, sorry!

disappointing. la roma to me will always be on the corner of somerset and bronson. that la roma was a great restaurant. the current la roma on preston is not the same at all in my opinion. last night i had the medaglione saltimbocca with vegetables. it was a poorly reheated effort with poorly applied spice and totally lacking in anything satisfying. it just wasn't very good at all. there are so many other restaurants to explore i wont be rushing back to this one.

delicious. what a fantastic dining experience. our group of 8 women chose to try this restaurant saturday night. the service was great and the food was so delicious. i had the smelts and the gnocchi. my niece and i could not decide on which ones to choose so we shared the 4 cheese and the sage butter gnocchi. well they were both divine. you eat slowly because you don’t want it to end. we all had a little taste from people’s plates around the table and everything was wonderful. even the coffee was good. thanks again.

subpar. the service was average. i ordered the veal with shrimp inside and it tasted awful. i tried the pasta which was decent, so just avoid the veal.
it was a bit overpriced. there are definitely better restaurants out there for me to spend my money on

i have gone to this restaurant for years and it used to be fantastic. not so any more ! my husband and i had terrible service and dismal food and the pleasure to pay $90 for it. the waitress completely ignored us, we had to get up a couple of times and look for her. she forgot to make sure that there were condiments on the table. the food was low quality and the 1/2 litre of mediocre wine $30. the desert arived 15 minutes after the coffee. she never even apologized. this one is off my list.

highly recommended. i live about a block up from preston st. so i've had the opportunity to try most restaurants in the area. i would by far say this one is my favorite. i've been there about 5 or 6 times now, had different meals every time, and have never been disappointed. i was in wednesday night with my girlfriend. i had the salsicce rosolate and she had the pollo marsala. she raved and raved about her meal and i can't say enough how great mine was. a little on the spicy side if you're not a fan of spicy food, i, however, love it! drinks are reasonably priced and for the quality so is the food. total, with a pint of creemore and a half litre of wine plus tip came to just under $100. atmosphere is beautiful, and my girlfriend was also really impressed with the fancy perfume left in the lady's washroom. service was impeccable as always. from what i could see they had a full house at the time and our server didn't miss a beat. as well, i'd like to point out that while the server was on his game, he gave us our privacy, which is rare i find in restaurants like this. i particularly liked how we were offered "the mobster" table right in the corner. if you bring a date definitely request this table. very romantic. i would recommend this restaurant to anyone! can't wait to eat there again! enjoy!!
