la margarita

my favorite mexican place of all time! i went there at least monthly when i lived in irving. it has been 5 years since i last went bit looking forward to going next while visiting the area. greatfoodand great drinks!

just ok. this was your typical tex-mex place if you ask me. service was good, everyone was friendly andfoodwas out in a timely manner. i had the beef and chorizo tacos which were good, but could have used some type of sauce to go with them. the chips were good, guacamole was ehh..ok, but the salsa was bad. the salsa tasted like tomato soup, definitely one of the worst salsas i've ever had at a mexican restaurant.

lunch - good choice. lunch time spinach enchi's are very good as is the accompanying tortilla soup. looking forward to a return during the dinner hour - will see if their name lives up to the libation!!

i've returned a couple of more times since my original visit. very much enjoy the menu item "build your own plate" with tacos, enchi's, tamale, burritto, flauta, choice of beans. good value, great flavors.

the only plate i've had that was less than enjoyable were the duck tacos. not really what you'd expect to see at a mexicanfoodrestaurant, which is why i ordered it. the duck meat was shredded and dry. however, if your interest is piqued, i would suggest asking the server if you could do a taste test before ordering. i'm so impressed with this restaurant, i'm of the opinion they would probably oblige your request.

thefoodwasn't too bad, definately not worth the money. the place is way too crowded for lunch hours. would not recommend this place to anyone. service was bad. try danal's mexican resteraunt down the street, much better food, price, and service. la margarita is overrated and they try to be too high class for the nasty city of irving

prejudice staff. the restaurant staff is very prejudice against their own kind and i bet even other races besides white people. i've eaten here twice and today i ordered something to go. both times i ate there our waiter was very dull and rude. my spouse asked for a margarita and he gets carded which is fine we don't mind. but he couldn't find it, and the waiter just looked at us with a smirk (this was our first time) and he left but said he'd be back. well my spouse found his id in his front pocket which is fine to laugh at but when we showed him the id he kept being rude and dull. he didn't even want to explain the menu to us. the second time it was the same thing all over again except we didn't order a drink. i still left the waiters 20% both times because i am a server at mi cocina. i know what good service is. and today i decided instead of receiving prejudice service then i'll just avoid it by ordering to go. i ordered myfoodat 2:37 and got there at 3:00. they said it would take 20-25 minutes which is fine i didn't mind. i waited until about 3:10 and i still didn't mind but the one thing that was aggravating is that nobody said hi or even acknowledged that we were there (i went withy my brother). two white males entered and they sat down at the bar and got greeted and taken care of right away while we were still standing in the front by the hostess stand. finally someone (the hostess) came out of the kitchen at 3:14 and charged us. i was rude and i don't even remember if she asked us "how are you" or even said hello. i just heard her voice and right after she was done talking i said "order for 'name'". it took her about 5 more minutes to get my order out which during that time she came out and went back because she probably forgot something. bad bad service. not even the servers came near us, they just avoided us. so this is my deal, they have greatfoodand i probably would have tipped her if the service was faster. it took over 30 minutes for myfoodto get done and get out and this is not acceptable for a tex-mex restaurant, i know, i work at one. another thing, no matter what race or how they act towards you, the server, hostess, or any other worker in the restaurant must give their best service with a smile to every customer that comes in. the only reason i tipped those two waiters is because i know how it is, this is how they make their living but that hostess has no excuse. i wish the managers at this place could teach their staff a thing or two about customer service skills.

after finding this place on urbanspoon we decided to give it a try. we didn't want to go to any of the chain restaurants and we weren't familiar with the area. after arriving we were kind of nervous as the strip mall it was located in seemed kind of less than attractive. anyway after going inside we noticed the decor was quite nice, the music was fun and at a nice level, and it was very clean. we were a little apprehensive as we were the only ones there but it was early. we were quickly seated and brought chips and salsa. our waiter was quite friendly and knowledgeable. when ourfoodarrived we became more relaxed as the presentation was lovely. thefoodwas amazing. i personally had the applewood smoked bacon chipotle fajitas while others in my party had the traditional tacos, duck carnitas, camarones al mojo de ajo, taco salad, and chile relleno. it was all very delicious! we finished the meal with creme brûlées. after we were done we realized the place had gotten quite busy as only a few tables were empty. wonderful experience and definitely will return the next time we're in irving.

from worried to amazed. six of us went sat, april 14, 2012 around 12:30pm. we almost did not even go in because we were unimpressed with the outside of the restaurant. then, after going in, almost left again - there was not a single customer inside. we decided to stay and ordered 6 different meals. we all agreed that this was some of the best mexicanfoodthat we ever experienced. between the orders, we had duck, shrimp, chicken, and beef. to a person, we were blown away. also, the creme brulee was very good.

the drive from east dallas will certainly be made again in the near future.

the queso is very, very good. i almost always order the fajita monterrey (chicken or beef covered in cheeses and tomatoes with onion i believe...). so good! the margaritas are great too.

this place is great! my brother and sister-in-law were in town visiting and i wanted to try a new restaurant. i googled "good mexicanfoodirving" or something like that and la margarita was one of the results. there were many glowing reviews so we decided to try it. when i saw it's location in the strip mall next to aldi, i was at first skeptical. this place truly is a hidden treasure! the decor is very nice and thefoodis even better! i had the pollo maria, chicken breast that was pan seared in sauza tequila. it came served on a big white platter/bowl on top of pesto mash with a mushroom sauce and some zucchini slices on top. this was truly a plated gourmet dish! my brother had a beef chimichangas that he said was the best ever and my sister in law loved hers too! oh yeah, the drinks were great too!

not too much atmosphere in the restaurant section, but thefoodis great, along with the mango margarita. family owned

i have been a very loyal customer for over 13 years and my wife and i love this place. my only complaint is that often, the hot sauce is too hot. they need to taste test it beforehand instead of just following their recipe as sometimes jalepenos are hotter than other times.

this is my favorite mexicanfoodplace in the dfw area. thefoodis excellent each and everytime i go there. they have a great staff, many whom have worked there for years. they have your typical tex-mex, but they also have more gourmet type dishes as well. i highly recommend this restaurant and am certain you will like it also.

don't judge a book by it's cover. the outside was nothing special - strip mall between new construction and a wing stop. inside was very well done creating a great atmosphere. thefoodwas fantastic and the presentation was excellent. we definitely will be back.

overall fun atmosphere, thefoodwas delicious but not my favorite. wasn't crazy about their salas...
