highly recommend la bocca! i used to work in tempe, so la bocca was a favorite lunch spot among our office, especially for lunch meetings with clients and out of town guests. i've tried pizzas, salads and bruschetta, and not once was i ever disappointed at la bocca. favorite items are the truffled mushroompizzaand the pear salad. their sangria is awesome also. the vibe of the restaurant is nice/trendy, and they have a great patio for days that aren't too hot.

don't understand the continual praise. i really want to like la bocca, but on both visits, i've been very underwhelmed. it hits on its assumed goal of coming off as a chic refreshment to the other options on mill, but it feels too pretentious for apizzajoint, even a wood-fired one. the wine and beer selection are very good, but i can't get over how incredibly average theirpizzais and how many people throw complements as if it is one of the bestpizzaplaces in phoenix. la bocca seems the equivalent of everyone in the room nodding heads in approval because it's unfitting to say that a place with such urban characteristics could be unflattering.

la bocca urban pizzeria & wine bar is a new, exciting, and unique restaurant located on mill avenue in tempe arizona. if you're looking for a place with great food and a nice glass of wine then you should definitely head to la bocca.
the décor is very chic and even the tableware is elegant. there is an outdoor patio, which is great if you enjoy people-watching and, during this time of year, arizona's perfect weather. the restaurant is dimly lit and has floor-to-ceiling windows. each table has a candle. there is a bar and lounge area and many tables to sit at depending on what you prefer.
the bruschetta planks, which are $12 and come with four in an order, are a great appetizer to start with. the hard part is choosing only four because they all sound great. the mediterranean plate is also a great thing to start out with. it comes with hummus, babaganoush, and house made flat bread.
i'm not lying when i say theirpizzais the best i've ever tasted. they have seven different pizzas to choose from, or you can build your own. the pizzas are fairly large and are more than enough for one person. you can definitely tell the difference between the quality of la bocca'spizzaand otherpizzajoints across arizona. la bocca uses fresh ingredients and gives you a wide variety of toppings to choose from.
although i've never tried their sangria, i hear it's amazing. they also have 4 peak's kiltlifter on draft, and it is ice cold. the beers are all reasonably priced, but the wine is a little expensive.
overall, i would highly recommend this place to anyone. if you're looking for a place with a cool and comfortable atmosphere, great food, and fantastic service then you should go to la bocca. you won't regret it!

good time. food tastes great. appetizers and drinks were great.pizzawas a little underwhelming. loud inside. outside patio was delightful although tables a little small for four adults. overall well worth the money. we had a great time.

craving good pizza!. ended up at la bocca late last night after being turned away at cibo at 9:15, bummer. i always get there bruschetta when i go here, but the boyfriend wanted to try something different so we went with the antipasti platter. it was pretty tasty, and they really hook you up. i was almost full by the time we finished it but theres always room for pizza. we ordered the margheritapizzaand added caramelized onions and truffle oil. when thepizzacame out there was hardly any cheese or basil, some slices didn't have either on them, pretty much just the crushed tomatoes. the crust is tasty but it's limp in the middle, so i had to use my fork for most of it. overall it was a good pizza, i just wish they would have gone a little heavier with the toppings. the service is always good when i come here, and i love the patio, it's always fun to people watch on mill. oh and the desert! you have to try the mint ice cream with chocolate chips. i don't normally like mint anything, but this is the real deal. none of that fake mint flavor, it's really refreshing after your meal.

really liked it.. went on sat june 20 before a show at gammage. server was very friendly and helpful - and comped my friends drink. we had the boca triopizzaand the pear and goat cheese salad. both were excellent. loved the dressing on the salad - very tangy. i also appreciated that they got us in and out quickly so we could catch our show. had a nice wine list and reasonable prices.

great pizza. the atmosphere is fun for group or a date . convivial and ever present is the owner julian wright, who is a veteran to the tempe food/bar scene. he has put his focus recently onpizzaand he has done a great job.

with a long communal table up by the bar, its a great place to stop by, split apizzaand grab a few small bites.

on a good nite, you will catch the kitchen trying new pizza's, and maybe you get to "try" one out.

this is the kind of neighborhood place everyone needs. i love this place.
