if you want poor quality beef and rude service..... the schmaltzy manager ricky lane welcomes you at the bar like you've entered his parlor. normally, this is a good thing, but he is an over the top personality, blowing hot air from the get-go. the appetizers were underwhelming, but this was less disappointing than the quality oflaboca's beef. later, seated at our table for entrees, we found ourselves placed in the back next to a boisterous table of young men bellowing, laughing obnoxiously, and fist bumping as they gobbled their steaks. we politely asked to move away and neither the waitress nor the mgmt wanted to help us. the second henchman in command minimized our distress and tried to convince us that these young men were just having a good time and we should put up. next, our steaks arrived and the rib eye, a $44 cut, had an excessive amount of fat, grizzle, and veins. the waitress, inexperienced and unconcerned, sent ricky lane back over. uninterested in any negative feedback, he spent 5 minutes rudely lecturing us about why our disappointment was unfounded. at one point when we asked if there had been a change of ownership, he squawked sarcastically at us, "are you insane?" it was unclear whether he was drunk or just extremely rude. the only professional, knowledgeable and courteous employee was the female bartender. avoidlaboca and their arrogant and incompetent staff.

last night in the smelly no (sorry natives but don't deny that this place stinks). tried a lot of native restaurants and po boy sandwiches, all were good and all.. but i was over the whole seafood and native food and was craving a good last meal! and boy did i find it!laboca's steaks gave me exactly what i was looking for -had the kobe steak and the sausages for appetizers. 10/10 highly recommend it. loved it so much that i tipped 32% of my bill ;)

easily some of the best steak i’ve ever had. went for the 14 oz skirt steak...so buttery and tender. we shared the provoleta appetizer, which is way bigger than 2 people need, but very tasty. the mashed potatoes were served family style and were worth every penny. service was top notch, and you even get to choose the exact knife you want, very fancy. we will definitely be back, laboca is well worth the price.

i've been in new orleans for about 2 years now and have for a long time wanted to get the chance to eat atlaboca, and i can easily say it far exceeded my expectations. lively atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable waitress and sommelier, and impeccable dining. my meal consisted of the flank steak special w/ avocado, and asparagus, accompanied by a glass of achaval ferrer, and i could not have been more impressed.

this could have been great experience, because my family and i love great steaks and have eaten them all over the world. most of the food and wine was perfect, both in flavors and preparation, but the wait staff did something unforgivable.

my wife ordered the most expensive steak on the menu that night, the bone-in filet. she asked for it to be cooked medium. the steak that arrived was dry and over-cooked except for a bite or two in the very center near the bone. we asked our waiter to replace the steak.

we never saw the waiter again, but moments later one the hostesses returned with the steak saying that the chef said it was cooked properly. she pointed out that if you looked at the very center you could see that it was cooked medium. we were very disappointed by this, as the chef sent the hostess tell us that we, the customer, were wrong.

a properly cooked filet is the same color throughout, and is only a little more cooked on the top and bottom because this is necessary to get the maillard reaction (sear). i’ve eaten hundreds of filets cooked medium, and i’ve only seen two prepared this badly. i still frequent the other steakhouse because they made it right without insulting us. i’ll never return tolaboca.

"blinded by the light". this is quite an unusual review in the sense that the food was actually above par and the service was good...if you make a 6:00 or 6:30 reservation, make sure you reserve a table "not" in the sun. as a former advocate oflaboca, i brought a couple here with wonderful memories of past meals and impeccable service. it's amazing how a "smug" hostess, who claimed that "this" is the only table available, can ruin an otherwise favourable dining experience. you should not have to use the menu as shade for 30 minutes until the sun sets ."completely unacceptable"!!!!

brought a party of 16 in for a special birthday meal. service was good food very good but when we went to pay our $1600 billthey would not accept a $100 gift card!!the manager said it was expired my son gave it to my husband for fathers day and we were trying to use it that november! he would not budge even though we brought in a very large party. we will not be back because of the way we were treated.lalaw states that no gift certificate may expire before 5 years! we wrote to them pleading our case but have had no response. don't ever purchase a gift certificate from this place!

my experience did not start well, but once my tastebuds processed the steak: all was forgiven and the happiness i was expecting fromlaboca continued... this is small restaurant and i'm glad we called for reservations because a line was forming from the street traffic. as with small establishments, certain menu items tend to run out and you don't find out until the waiter places the order which happened to me and it was easily remedied with the waiter's help. i had to return my salad because it had dirt and i can't stand the sensation of grit between my teeth. management apologize, but my brain was registering strike two....until the steak.... no more words necessary

best steak in new orleans. i make a point of going tolaboca at least twice a month because the steaks are just that good. the skirt is my normal stand by. i also always get the provoleta and the chorizo. the environment is intimate and cozy which only elevates the dining experience. i always recommendlaboca to people who are looking for a good steak and to try a unique restaurant.

beef lover's paradise. i ordered the bifelaboca with sides of fried brussels sprouts and baked corn pudding. sides were big enough to share. sprouts were exceptional. wife doesn't like sprouts and she liked them. corn pudding was excellent. i thought my sliced steak was heavenly until i tasted wife's beef tenderloin. hers was beyond heavenly.

from here on, this is the place i'll go in nol when i have a craving for the best steak in a 300 mile radius. everything was unique and exceptional!

best steak in nola. a chef buddy of mine recommended the place..laboca is hands-down the best steak in new orleans. the cuts of meat they use aren't the sexiest but it's cooked and seasoned perfectly. if you're looking for some delicious meats, laboca will definitely hit the spot. the grilled sweetbreads are phenomenal as well!

tops for steaks. or so say my husband and dad.laboca delivers some of the best steaks they've had according to their rave reviews. i'm a vegetarian, so all i can say is i do love their salads and sides. they typically have a pasta dish or two on the menu that i can eat. only thing to note is that the kitchen is very liberal with salt. staff are great, and i love the size of the restaurant - not too big, not too small.

absolute favorite. we eat atlaboca way too much, but we can't help it. it is just so good. each meal begins with a gaucho platter, consisting of various meats and sausages. the sweetbreads steal the show every time. a steak follows, usually the steak with avocados. it is impossible for such thin steaks to have so much flavor. the fries are usually on the side and garlic is hiding somewhere. the wine list is fantastic and the pisco sours are tasty. highly recommended.
