not worth the money. very loud in a very little place. not romantic at all. you can't hear each other talk. thefoodis no better than somewhere half the price. for being an argentinian steakhouse, it seems odd that the menu shows the grass fed meat coming from mississippi of all places. we would not go back.

last night in the smelly no (sorry natives but don't deny that this place stinks). tried a lot of native restaurants and po boy sandwiches, all were good and all.. but i was over the whole seafood and nativefoodand was craving a good last meal! and boy did i find it! la boca's steaks gave me exactly what i was looking for -had the kobe steak and the sausages for appetizers. 10/10 highly recommend it. loved it so much that i tipped 32% of my bill ;)

this could have been great experience, because my family and i love great steaks and have eaten them all over the world. most of thefoodand wine was perfect, both in flavors and preparation, but the wait staff did something unforgivable.

my wife ordered the most expensive steak on the menu that night, the bone-in filet. she asked for it to be cooked medium. the steak that arrived was dry and over-cooked except for a bite or two in the very center near the bone. we asked our waiter to replace the steak.

we never saw the waiter again, but moments later one the hostesses returned with the steak saying that the chef said it was cooked properly. she pointed out that if you looked at the very center you could see that it was cooked medium. we were very disappointed by this, as the chef sent the hostess tell us that we, the customer, were wrong.

a properly cooked filet is the same color throughout, and is only a little more cooked on the top and bottom because this is necessary to get the maillard reaction (sear). i’ve eaten hundreds of filets cooked medium, and i’ve only seen two prepared this badly. i still frequent the other steakhouse because they made it right without insulting us. i’ll never return to la boca.

"blinded by the light". this is quite an unusual review in the sense that thefoodwas actually above par and the service was good...if you make a 6:00 or 6:30 reservation, make sure you reserve a table "not" in the sun. as a former advocate of la boca, i brought a couple here with wonderful memories of past meals and impeccable service. it's amazing how a "smug" hostess, who claimed that "this" is the only table available, can ruin an otherwise favourable dining experience. you should not have to use the menu as shade for 30 minutes until the sun sets ."completely unacceptable"!!!!

brought a party of 16 in for a special birthday meal. service was goodfoodvery good but when we went to pay our $1600 billthey would not accept a $100 gift card!!the manager said it was expired my son gave it to my husband for fathers day and we were trying to use it that november! he would not budge even though we brought in a very large party. we will not be back because of the way we were treated. la law states that no gift certificate may expire before 5 years! we wrote to them pleading our case but have had no response. don't ever purchase a gift certificate from this place!

excellent and i've been here 4/5 times.... i lived in chile for most of my life so various trips to argentina were made throughout my time living there. la boca has become my favorite steakhouse in new orleans, and ever since i moved here, my cravings for 'parillada argentina' have finally been satisfied. the location is perfect, the decor is simple with a few maradona posters here and there, truly focusing your attention solely on the food. from the appetizers i've tried the empanadas criollas (meat pies), chorizo (sausage), and provoleta. the provoleta above all took me back, as it's something that is not very easy to find. my only criticism about the appetizers is that, usually in argentine restaurants, you do get an abundance of meat when ordering chorizo or morcilla (blood sausage), where as the appetizer portions here are quite minute. also, i would love it if they added a molleja (sweet bread)/chorizo appetizer, or something of the sorts so that way you don't have to order a big platter if you're only two people. other wise, everything so far is great.

argentina is also very well known for it's italian food, many people who do get to eat italianfoodin argentina often say that it's better than what you find in italy even, so ordering pasta here wouldn't be a bad idea, even though i haven't personally tried it, because i love entrana (skirt steak) too much. i always order this cut when i eat here, i know it's boring, but it's my favorite and i can't get it cooked and seasoned like that anywhere else. it's just perfect.

the french fries are delicious and i've never had them like that before; they are seasoned with garlic and green onions if i'm not mistaken. it would be ridiculous to ask for ketchup, as the fries are full of flavor, and i can see as to why they don't offer it; it's just not necessary. if they were plain, old, boring fries without seasoning other than salt, sure, ketchup would be fine, but in this case, i don't see why on earth would you ask for it.

i have tried a desert and i think it was the pancake one, but all i recall is that it was extremely overwhelming and i did not enjoy it too much. other than that, great restaurant, definitely make reservations before you go and just enjoy and have a good time, enjoy the chimi churri sauce, enjoy the experience of choosing your steak knife (which is not a big deal, they just give you a tray full of knives and you pick one, you'd have to be mentally challenged or user 'jonvansmoot' to make this a complicated ordeal), and above all, enjoy that succulent steak.

terriblefoodand horrific service. we should of known when we were greated by a very rude maitre'd that we would not have a pleasant dining experience.. when the bread was brought to the table the center was frozen. we brought this to the attention of our waitress and were told "we are not known for our bread " and no replacement bread was brought to us. when our dinner finally arrived the steaks were only average and mine was very overcooked. the waitress was rude and argued that the steak was perfectly cooked. i ordered the kobe steak medium rare and it was totally brown/black in and out. rather than argue any more we paid our inflated tab and left vowing never to return.

great food, shoddy service. thefoodwas wonderful at la boca, which in any dining experience is the most important thing. our female waitress however, was a different story. maybe she was having a bad day but she took forever to take our drink order, tossed down our dishes with nothing more than a "there you are" and no eye contact and then she took forever to bring our check. the restaurant is small and is open to the kitchen which made for a very warm atmosphere but like i said, thefoodwas very good.
i loved the provoleta appetizer of argentinan cheese presented in a sizzling cast iron skillet. the empanadas de pollo were very good as well and made with fresh homemade dough. i got the kobe tenderloin and it was out of sight as were the grilled asparagus. would i go again? yes, but i would ask to sit in a different section and try my luck with another server.
