i've only been here once, and i'm not sure why...l8 is a hip, laidback, open air cafe in the middle of 44 stanley. they serve a wide range of gourmet coffees, sandwiches, pies, and burgers that go above and beyond what you'd expect of such a small little kiosk in the midst of the hustle and bustle of all the stores in compound. the names of the dishes are a riot too, with cool, zeitgeist-y, pop culture names like the 'vincent vega' or 'the dude' that'll have you feeling amused and nostalgic at once.
the chips are great (here with the yummy, veg lester burnham) and the specialty coffee, the l8 croc, has been my favorite in recent memory. a rich confection of belgian chocolate, cookie bits, and cream, it's more of a dessert than a midday pick-me-up, but what a dessert it is. my coworker was also a huge fan of the pies and got one every morning. to top it all off the guys are some of the friendliest, sweetest i've seen around. food, vibes, and service--what more could you ask for?
one warning: wi-fi available, but no outlets so mobile office with caution!
