our go-to korean restaurant. the place needs a bit of updating and you do feel & smell a little bit afterwards, as it is not very well ventilated. but, they do do great korean food here. portions of the main dishes are quite generous and tasty. this place always give you 6 side dishes which you can top up, and they are all very tasty.
they do the best home-made kimchi here, and we very often buy a box of their kimchi to take home. consistenly good food which has kept us coming here for years now.

a korean restaurant that has been around for a long time. my adorable twins love to have marinated beef. i have been to kumkang regularly since i was pregnant with them. maybe that is why they like it along with the potato banchan. i order two beef for the twins when they are hungry since they fight when sharing. want delicious meat? go here.

i like having lunches here. mixed vegetables has been my go to menu... one person menus are like about $17 and the little sides that come with it are superb. it keeps my boring lunches exciting. anyone looking to have some variety in their lunches should check this place out.

very bad experience and service. i have been there few times before and today went with a group of friends. 10 adults plus five kids who under 4 another two kids just 1 yers old. then we ordered 11 meals in total, the lady said that we have to ordered two more otherwise they refuse to refill our side dishes. we explained that kids won’t eat much but they still insist coz their ridiculous policy. this is a not welcoming kids restaurant. definitely won’t coming back.

very bad service, we have been waiting for 30mins for 2 meals and been kicked out from the restaurant because they forgot to drop the orders to the kitchen. even 1 star is the best opinion we can give. why there’s no zero star??

beef stir fry with veges was pleasant : ) have not tried self-bbq yet. atmosphere is chill and was able to sit 10 of us together. asked for extra space as we had some big guys with us. living in the city has it ups, but there are not many asian places that can hold so many of us. fast service especially considering the full tables. would go more often but its not located in the city.

i was very disappointed of this restaurant. they have policy of 1 person had to order a dish! i came with 3 adults and 1 baby and 1 4 yr. i ordered 3 main dishes and they said i have to order 2 more. if i don't, they will only give 1 round of side dishes, i said, let it be, coz my baby does not eat rice ( he was only 3 months old) and my 4 had eaten, so he wont be eating so much. so they only gave us 4 dishes. we quickly ate and did not even finish our meal, we were so upset.  i complained to the owner and she doesn't speak english, then the daughter showed up and instead of being nice, she said it was their policy and i said the policy was not good. my baby was still 3 mth old, he wont eat rice, it could kill him. she said she did not care. i was like. i was very unhappy. in my opinion, as i love korean food and had tried so many restaurants in auckland. their food is below standard, over priced. overal;: my experience was not good at all. i rather go to another korean restaurant. definitely will not be coming back! service was so awful.

located on rosedale rd. many restaurants along the rd. one of the key players. food is delish. sizzling meat is very good. service friendly. ambience ok. spacious and cool during these hot days. this place got me into korean food.

so tasty. homemade kimchi is rare to comeby these days so whenever there is a craving for some fresh kimchi, i go there. i don't know why, but most places only serve pre-packed kimchi nowdays. homemade fresh kimch, sides, and hearty food makes it unique.

i was having a flu and craving for some hearty food. ended up here and ordered their yukgaejang (beef soup) and bulgogi. they serve a variety of side dishes together with the meal as well. food wise i found them to be average and price is a bit on the higher side.

so glad to have kumkang close to home! a staple restaurant for our family. the stir-fry range is scrumptious and the soups, especially spicy beef is just so good to have on cold days.

dined here on neighbour's recommendation (we moved to albany area recently).

definitely one of our favourite restaurants in the area!! tasty food in good portions. we had 2 soups + pork bbq. will be back to try other menus :)

probably the best korean places i have tasted... their chicken, squid and bulgogi bokkeum were all scrumptious and made down 3 rice... other meals such as al tang, bimbimbap, jogi jeongsik, yukgaejang, hanjeongsik baekban and korean pancake were all filling and full of flavour!!! it was the bomb.com

the young waitress very kindly greets us when i dined here with a friend. she is very approachable, friendly and helpful when needing anything, superb customer service. the other staff are okay. really enjoyed the big portions of bulgogi and bibimbap and the delicious side dishes with free refills. prices are quite expensive but overall due to the excellent customer service i received this has to be one of the best korean bbq restaurants i have been to. cannot wait to return. well done.

good food and nice staff. their soup range is well worth exploring and my personal favorite is spicy hangover soup. liked trying various sides.
